Chapter 41

A local news anchorman was on the screen, with a photo of Regotti to one side of him. The reporter said, “We’ve just received information from a trusted source with the DEA that reputed mobster and member of the Grimaldi organization, Anthony Regotti, was gunned down outside of a hotel on the north side of Chicago. While details are slim at the moment, it appears that he was leaving the hotel with two other men when a gunman approached him and fired three shots, before escaping into a nearby building. Two shots hit Regotti in the chest, the third in the head. So far, there is no information about who the gunman was, or why he shot Regotti. We will update you as we learn more.”

“It took long enough,” Wayne muttered, but the smile on his face belied his grumpy response

Rae dashed into the living room seconds later. “Turn on the…Okay, you have. Did you see that Regotti’s dead? I know I shouldn’t be happy about someone being murdered, but in his case—”
