The day it all began

Ito Riku did not plan to be saddled with an insane wolf child this day. In fact- he planned to have a nice walk home and immediately head to bed.

His steps softened the soft murk of the gentle mush that lay across the ground. The worn steps of him that had walked before lead him until they suddenly stopped.

A fresh new patch of grass grew over his footsteps- obscuring his view. Even sweeping through the taller grass he couldn't find the prints.

A great sigh escaped his lips as he walked blindly through the thick trees. Just his luck! This path didn't look so scary when he was coming home in the afternoon- but near midnight it was horrifying.

The trees looked taller during the night. Casting long shadows across the ground until everything was enveloped in shadow.

Showering blindly through the narrow cut through the trees- he started to complain aloud.

"Dumb boss! If he hadn't have kept me overtime for his stupid task I wouldn't be in this mess!" Riku growled. He squinted into the darkness- seeing his footsteps and the gentle path slowly reappearing.

"That's a relief!" He sighed as he made his way back to the path he had found.

He started to jog- wanted to get out of the forest as soon as possible.

His foot caught on something large- like a large rock of some sort. His balance was lost and his face collided with the grassy flooring of the forest in an instant

He began to feel a soreness pulsating from a small spot on his forehead spot. Riku groaned and lifted his body slightly before cupping his bruised forehead.

"I'll definitely have a bruise there tomorrow- what did I trip on?" He looked over his shoulder- prepared to bark at an inanimate object- but he nearly fainted when he saw what he had tripped on.

A girl- fiery orange hair and skin pale with illness that made her appear to be lifeless.

He screamed as a dark thought crossed his mind.

"Am I at the scene of a crime??"
