1. Sweet Liquidy Encounter

"When you meet someone for the first time, that's not the whole book. That's just the first page."

With a great overwhelming feeling, I set off my foot on the land of America called Miami, "The Magic City" three days prior to the beginning of the sessions. Despite a number of scolding disapprovals from my mum, I got able to dispose off the misery in my life by getting away from my hometown 'Seoul' in South Korea. Taking off my foot in Miami, the first thing I needed to do was arrange my things in the three bed dorm and meet my best buddy Yeontan after 4 years who's studying his last year of engineering. He was to help me find a part time job in this busy place.

Although getting a full scholarship in Florida International University for studying Masters in Finance, I still have to pay 30% of the hostel fee and last semester's fee. With a meagre amount of money from my savings, I want a part time job ofcourse to get along in my life.

Amazed to see such a huge campus with all the facilities and arranging everything in a couple of hours, I called Yeontan and decided to meet him. Everyone loves exploring new places, right! Well, I am not an exception and on top of that I was so excited to meet him, we decided to meet at a starbucks nearby and chitchat.

"Hey Lee Sang-Tae shi (shi is used for addressing someone in korea), Anneyeong" (hello in Korean) Yeontan waved at me merrily outside starbucks.

We met with warming hugs at the entrance of Starbucks. Were we just about to enter the spacious and aromatic place when first incident occurred on the first day of my arrival. While we were getting pass the coming out a busy girl on her mobile and a cup of hazelnut caramel macchiato in other hand on our way in, it turned out to be a havoc. I got bathed with the whole drink by that girl and made a huge mess of myself and the place. The whole attention was at us in an instance.

That girl too rushed with a napkin to clean my shirt blabbering with ''I'm Sorrys" and just "It's okay " came out as a reply.

I looked closely at her guilty yet cold expressions but stayed silent, picked the cup and the name read 'YOHANA'

YOHANA'S P.O.V.

Ugh! what a disturbing day I'm having. First got scolded by mum and dad and now this mess. Already annoyed with them, splashing the drink on a stranger added guilt to my anger. Telling her everything, I usually calm down myself by her words. Although it was quite normal for me to get yelled at by my parents but today, to be off-limits, I was called a worthless child. They were regretful of having me and the drinky incident became the cherry on top to make my day worse.

"You should've just listened to them then." Vanessa, my only friend I rely on spoke up. Its not like I don't have friends. Of course I do, infact I have many than usual being a so-called millionaire. Yes, I am one and I'm not at all proud of being one. Daughter of Filip Matthews, the owner of Giant Matthews, one of the leading companies in Florida. Money brings everything, wellwishers, attention, fame, and I don't like any of them. Not being a child who works up to their standards, I always get yelled at for everything I do.

"Yeah, like we think and wish alike." I jerked up. " You know me, right! I always do what I desire not what my "sweet" parents want. And you know too what THEY want. They want everything that make their business grow not caring what I love, what I want." I justified which resulted in her nodding to my statement understanding me. "Life is like a profit and lose statement for them, Anything I do never makes them profit so I get scolded up Lol, Like I care now." I shrugged.

She is the only one who understands me next to my elder brother Ryan, who is my favourite person on this planet. Despite being a year older, she is the one that calms me down and is my closest friend. You can call us 'Hanessa' when we are together.

"Now, what you gonna do?" She asked.

SANG-TAE'S P.O.V.

After cleaning everything up from the 'Sweet Liquidy Encounter' with that stranger, we went to central park of the city and chatted a lot, more like refreshing our past memories.

"I still remember the day when your dad ran away with that adult movie actress." Regretting it the moment he said that. He knew already that's the worst memory I ever had 7 years ago. Him running away, all the embarrassment and misery following that incident for years. I lost many friends, the love and care from my mum. "Sorry." Came in an instant from him.

" Oh don't worry. I don't care about all that anymore." I replied with a reassuring smile.

"But how did you get away from Seoul? I thought aunt will never accept you studying abroad and after getting a job offer? Really?" He asked amazingly.

"Just like that." I replied smiling at the memory...

Flashback

"Yay! I got it, I got it, I got it." I exclaimed merrily. Finally I got selected in Florida International University with full scholarship for doing my masters. I was so contended with this news.

"Why are you acting like you won a lottery." My mum came out of nowhere looking uninterestingly at me.

"Yes, its a lottery for me." I replied brightly. Light in her eyes returned when she asked, "How much, how much? One million won, Two million won, How much?" Thinking about money, ofcourse.

"Omma, not everything is about money. Right now my only lottery is the scholarship in FIU in Miami." She was back to herself, uninterersting in everything but money.

"It means you'll not listen. You got an offer from such a high paying firm and still you want to study further. What's good in this, you'll be again doing job." Her voice rising. "Just listen to me and accept the job offer. Not like you did anything for me, now getting a chance, why always irritate you mum!" Typical her.

"Maa, what have I not done for you till now? all you think about is money and comfort. Never gave a penny from cafe to support me and my studies and giving me lectures!?" Finally breaking off my good boy shield. "I will go, won't ask for money. I have some savings left with me. You enjoy here your comforting life." My eyes rolling.

Flashback ends

Enjoying my day with Yeontan, my day ended with a good news of having a part time job in this busy city as a cashier in Versailes Bakery from Monday.

Sunday arrived. I woke up with a mess in the room. Seemed like I have new roommates. One of them named Daniel approached me and met with a refreshing smile and the other one, Brian was more of a cold one who just nodded at me.

The whole sunday went with shopping with Yeontan, he wanted some material for his final project and some necessities. In the evening, he took me to a famous restaurant bar with a tuning atmosphere and tasty American food. As we were enjoying our food, I saw something quite adorable. . A couple was singing Taylor Swift's song Love Story and suddenly the guy knelt down on one knee at the lyrics.."he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said.." to propose the girl. The whole environment got filled with yays and wows but one mishap occurred. The guy lost the ring somewhere and received many boos from people, and then a girl came front and pulled out a ring from her finger and gave to the guy to continue his proposal. That gushy incident got so many cheers for the couple and girl, who when turned around, came out to be the one from starbucks incident, 'Yohana'.
