A Month Together

"How have things been with you two?" Jimin asks Taehyung.

Taehyung shruggs his shoulder and half smiles at the question.

"What's wrong?" Jimin asked worried. "I thought you guys were getting along."

"We were...I mean we still are, but he is seriously such a hard nut to crack! Like I have tired my best to lighten his moods and maybe even make him laugh once in a while, but he is like a rock. Nothing penatrates him! He just studies all the time, and hardly says a word!" Taehyung says pouting.

"Well, I mean that's how his kind is Tae. They are not social creatures and he has a lot of course material to study. I mean he is only a first year but his major is a loaded one. Maybe just be patient with him, and just keep doing small things for him. I'm sure he appreciates it." Jimin replied.

"Wow, what happened? You used to hate the guy!" Taehyung said surprised.

"I did not hate him! I just.... didn't like him. But now that I have seen what it's like to deal with a dark creature, I understand the need to be patient. Plus he doesn't seem to dislike you, he just doesn't know how to reciprocate your affection is all. Just keep being yourself!" Jimin answered.

"How are things with Yoongi hyung?" Taehyung asked almost singing the end of the question.

Jimin gave him a suspicious look. "Fine." He answers shortly not wanting to give too much away.

"Just fine? Not great? Or romantic?" Taehyung asked wiggling his eyebrows.

Jimin gave a quick poke to the ribs causing Taehyung to let out a giggle. So when Jungkook walked in he felt like he was interrupting a private moment. His eyes go a little wide seeing Jimin tickling Tae, and he turns around embarrassed.

"Oh! Uh sorry I should have knocked first." Jungkook said.

"Jungkookie! What? Why would you have to knock?" Taehyung asked sitting straight again.

"Oh well you guys seemed to be having a moment." Jungkook said back still turned to the two friends.

Taehyung and Jimin glanced a t each other confused. They both started laughing and now Jungkook was the one confused. He turned slightly to look at them.

"What?" He asks.

"You think me and Jimin are like together?" Taehyung asked still gently giggling.

"Uh well yeah. You spend a lot of together and you are very affectionate." Jungkook said.

"Oh gosh! Jungkook me and Tae have been best friends since we were babies, we grew up together! There is no romantic feelings between us, we are just really close and comfortable with each other." Jimin says standing walking toward the door.

Jimin opens the door further so he has room to pass Jungkook who is still standing in the door way.

"Don't worry Kook, he is all yours!" Jimin said teasing and winking at Tae and walking out.

Jungkook watched Jimin walk out. "All mine? What does he mean by that?" Jungkook asks.

"Oh nothing Jungkookie! Don't listen to him!" Taehyung said laughing awkwardly.

'Damn you Park Jimin!' Taehyung said cursing to himself.

Jungkook shrugged and sat on his bed unloading all his work for the evening.

"Aw Jungkookie again? How can you seriously still have so much work even now?" Taehyung asked almost pouting.

"I thought I explained to you already." Jungkook replied, not harshly but just cranky.

"I know, but I kind of wish we could hang out sometimes too! We had so much fun when we went to the arcade!" Taehyung said sitting on his bed turning to Jungkook's direction.

"Oh, well maybe if we plan something I can fit into my schedule." Jungkook replied not looking up from his notes.

A smile whipped over Taehyung's face at those words. He felt excited that Jungkook was willing to make time for him.

"Really you would do that?" Taehyung asked.

" I mean if it matters that much, I guess I can fit it in." Jungkook replied nonchalantly.

Taehyung was so excited he jumped up and hugged Jungkook tightly from the side. Jungkook was not surprised by such actions anymore. Living with Taehyung for the past month had taught him that Taehyung would hug him even if he told him not to.

It didn't exactly bother Jungkook but the first time it happened he flinched because he wasn't sure what Taehyung was about to do. He didn't realize it but Taehyung was slowly changing him. He hadn't been harsh with Taehyung in a while, and in fact he hasn't had as many brooding moment either.

He was exhausted for sure which resulted in the occasional cranky day, but would easily pass as soon as Taehyung said or did something cute. Which was pretty much a constant state for Taehyung, and Jungkook was surprised by how unbothered he was. His mom would call once a week to check on him and even started asking about Taehyung as well.

Once when Jungkook and his mom were video chatting, Taehyung came back from the store announcing the arrival of the much demanded banana milk. Jungkook's mom was curious about her son's roommate, so Jungkook turned his phone in Taehyung's direction. He didn't tell Taehyung that he was on camera, so Taehyung was just going on and on. Ms. Jeon held back her coos as she say watched Taehyung restock the little fridge with Jungkook's favorite drink.

Taehyung even broke out a little tune as he was putting things away, and when he stopped humming he heard a soft clapping sound. Taehyung froze and turned on the balls of his feet to see Jungkook holding up his phone in his direction. He saw a middle-aged woman smiling through the screen and faintly smiled in return.

Taehyung bowed quickly and apologizing and greeting her.

"So you are Jungkook's roommate?" She asked.

"I'm, yes ma'am. Sorry for what you just heard and saw, I didn't know Jungkook was speaking with you." Taehyung replied apologetically.

"Don't apologize! I enjoyed your little show! And I see you take very good care of Jungkook, thank you for that!" Ms. Jeon said. "Pass the phone to your roommate Jungkook, I want to get a closer look!"

Taehyung slowly came forward taking the phone from Jungkook.

"You are so handsome!!! What's your name?" Ms. Jeon asked.

"Kim Taehyung!" Taehyung replied happily.

"And you are a fairy right?" Ms. Jeon asked.

"Yes ma'am!" Taehyung said smiling.

"You are stunning, I don't think I have seen a fairy like you before." Ms. Jeon said.

This made Taehyung blush.

"He is a special kind mom!" Jungkook spoke up as he was reading through the book in his hands.

Taehyung looked up a little surprised that Jungkook was aware that Taehyung was a little different.

"Oh that's right! My Jungkook did some reading before meeting you! Anyway Taehyung I am so happy to meet you! I hope we can talk again!" Ms. Jeon says waving goodbye.

"Yes I would like that! It was nice meeting you Ms Jeon!" Taehyung said smiling.

Jungkook took back the phone and started talking to his mom again. Taehyung was still a little stunned by the whole encounter. He just talked to Jungkook's mom and she spilled that Jungkook had research about Taehyung before they met for the first time. He felt his blush grow as he turned back to putting away the groceries.

Since then any time Jungkook had a video chat with his mom she and Taehyung would also talk a bit. It was clear that Ms Jeon really liked Taehyung and that made him feel so happy. Jungkook seemed unfazed by it all and usually just went back to studying.

So today right on schedule Jungkook's video chat alert went off, and Taehyung did a little excited dance. He squeezed next to Jungkook on his bed as Jungkook answered. Ms Jeon appeared on the screen smiling happily to see the two boys.

"Hey boys! How are you?" She asked.

"Ms Jeon! Hi!! We are doing great!!! How are you?" Taehyung said excited.

A moment later Jungkook's brother appeared as well.

"Oh hey Taehyung!! How's it going?" He asked waving.

"Hey JJ! How's school?" Taehyung replied.

This back and forth went on for several minutes with Jungkook holding the phone silently. He had been completely forgotten about but he didn't seem to mind, he just went on with his reading as the others kept talking. They talked and laughed and Jungkook just sat there ignoring them.

"Jungkook?" He heard his name and let out a 'huh' to acknowledge he was listening.

"You should bring Taehyung with you for a visit soon! Maybe over a weekend!! Since we are only about an hour away!" Ms Jeon said.

"If he wants to sure." Jungkook replied not turning away from his book.

Taehyung and Ms Jeon both happily smiled and gave each other a thumbs up. It seemed unsaid between them but Ms Jeon could tell Taehyung had a little crush on Jungkook and she really liked him, so she was happy to get close to Taehyung. Taehyung was surprised how nice Ms Jeon was toward him, and figured the female Amaroks were probably more friendly.

"Taehyungie, when are you free dear?" She asked.

"I have to meet with my parents and the council on Saturday this week but I am free Sunday!" He replied.

"That's perfect!!! I will cook a really good dinner for you guys! All of Jungkook's favorites! Is there something you would like to make?" Ms. Jeon asked.

"Nothing too spicy mom, Taehyung doesn't eat spicy foods." Jungkook spoke up still reading.

Ms Jeon paused for a moment and Taehyung turned and looked at his roommate a little surprised. Any time Jungkook made a comment like this it always took him by surprise. He didn't think Jungkook paid attention to such small things, but then he would make these random comments showing he actually knew things about Taehyung.

He would just sprout random thing she noticed, but didn't think much of it. Jungkook would look up occasional from his school work and watch Taehyung doing something and his brain for some reason would store that observation. Jungkook didn't really think it was a big deal, but it always made Taehyung feel really happy.

Ms Jeon smiled at Taehyung whobwas blushing a little now.

"Ok, no spicy food! Anything I should know Jungkook?" She asked.

"We can't stay too late, Taehyung gets tired kind of early." Jungkook added still not lifting his eyes from his book.

"You sure know a lot about Taehyung hyung!" His brother teased getting an elbow to his arm from his mom.

He laughed before walking away.

Jungkook at that moment looked up but just shrugged and went back to reading.

"Well, I am excited to have you guys over! Taehyung I can't wait to show you all of Jungkook's baby pictures!" She said trying to get a reaction from Jungkook.

Nothing. He didn't react at all. She just rolled her eyes. 'That boy is so oblivious' she thought to herself.

"Ok boys, I'll let you go back to what you were doing! See you sunday!" She said waving goodbye.

"By Ms. Jeon!!!" Taehyung said waving and pressing the hang up button on the screen.

He turned and ran his arm through Jungkook's.

"I can't believe I get to meet your mom and brother in person! That's so exciting!!!" Taehyung said happily.

"Mhm." Jungkook replied.

"Aye, Jungkookie come on be more excited!" Taehyung whined.

Jungkook sighed setting his book down and raising his too fists up and shook them slightly.

"Yaaaaay." He said in a monotoned voice.

This made Taehyung laugh.

"Seriously Jungkookie you are like the least enthusiastic person I have ever met! Anyway, I think your mom likes me!" He said resting his chin on Jungkook's shoulder.

"I guess so. She talks to you a lot and I think just calls now to see you." Jungkook admitted.

"Aw are you jealous?" Taehyung teased a little.

"No. I don't mind, she smiles a lot when you guys talk. I want her to be happy, and talking to you makes her happy so it makes me happy." Jungkook said picking up his book again.

Taehyung blushed again hiding his face in Jungkook's shoulder. He knew he definitely liked Jungkook a lot, but didn't expect Jungkook to ever reciprocate his feelings. Jungkook had told him from the beginning that their kind didn't date. But Jungkook never pushed Taehyung away whenever the older would show affection toward him.

In Jungkook's mind he figured all light creatures were like this, that maybe it was normal for them. He had seen Taehyung be affectionate with Jimin in a similar way, and he was told they were just good friends. Since Jungkook didn't have any friends who are light creatures before he figured Taehyung's actions were just how things were. So he never read much into them, and it didn't bother him.

Occasionally he would find a little thing did cute and would give a small smirk, but again he didn't think much of it. He didn't know how to really be emotionally attached to people, even his own family. So whenever Taehyung was affectionate with him he just guessed this was a normal thing for other people. Even when Yoongi would make the occasional joke that Taehyung was whipped for Jungkook, he didn't really understand what that meant so he ignored it.

Needless to say, Jungkook was pretty oblivious to most things. Taehyung himself was just happy that Jungkook never pushed him away. He was happy to sit with his head resting on Jungkook's shoulder as the other studied. Being around Jungkook made him happy.
