SHARED DREAMS

In Shana's cozy room, bathed in the soft glow of fairy lights, Shana and Lyra sat perched on the edge of Shana's bed, their conversation weaving through the air like a gentle breeze.

As they talked, they recounted the encounters with random students they had met earlier in school. Each interaction had been a mix of nerves and excitement, as they navigated the unfamiliar halls and faces of their new school.

"So, who do you think was the most interesting person we met today?" Lyra asked, a playful grin tugging at the corners of her lips.

Shana pondered for a moment, her brows furrowing in thought. "Hmm, I'd say that girl from English class, Emily. She seemed like she had a lot going on beneath the surface."

Lyra nodded in agreement, her eyes alight with curiosity. "Yeah, I noticed that too. There's definitely more to her than meets the eye."

Their conversation was interrupted by the faint sound of a car horn outside, followed by the familiar melody of Lyra's mom's car.

Lyra's eyes widened in realization, and she glanced at Shana with a sheepish smile. "Looks like it's time for me to head home."

Shana nodded understandingly, rising from the bed to walk Lyra to the front door. As they reached the entrance, Shana opened the door to find Lyra's mom waiting outside, her warm smile lighting up her face.

"Hello, Mrs. Reynolds," Shana greeted with a friendly smile, her voice filled with genuine warmth.

Mrs. Reynolds returned the smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners with affection. "Hello, Shana dear. It's always a pleasure to see you. Thank you for having Lyra over today."

Shana's cheeks flushed with a hint of embarrassment at the gratitude. "Oh, it was my pleasure. We had a great time."

Lyra stepped forward, giving Shana a quick hug before turning to her mom. "Thanks for picking me up, Mom."
