A few drops landed on the page and Brian wiped at it quickly and then at his eyes, not caring about displaying such raw emotions. “Oh my God,” Brian said eventually as he folded the letter up and returned it to the envelope. He avoided looking at Jake as he struggled with his emotions. Jake decided to give in to his overwhelming urge to hug his nephew again and damned the consequence. As he moved closer to take his nephew into a hug, Brian turned his body and fell into him, circling his arms tightly around Jake’s waist. The floodgate finally broke open and it rocked him along with Brian to their core.

After dinner Jake made his way to the living room, straying a bit from tradition of telling them stories of their parents around the dinner table like he did every year on this day. He shooed his nephews into the living room and had them settle on the big couch in front of the television.
