“So why don’t you come in here where it’s warm? I’ll make us some tea, and we can sit down and talk things out.”
“Don’t you want to have a cigarette first?”
“Yeah, I do. But I think it can wait. Will you get in here? I’m freezing even if you’re not.”
“Oh, I am.” Sean hurried inside.
Arliss grabbed hold of his arm as Sean passed.
“I need at least a hug.”
His request was plaintive, almost that of a little boy. Upset as he had been, Sean could not deny him. He closed the door quickly, shutting out the sleet and the cold wind, and took Arliss in his arms.
