Lin Yi has a great ambition. His goal goes beyond simply reaching the highest level of the CCG. In this world, there are both light and darkness. The CCG represents the light, while the ghoul world represents the darkness.

He also aims to establish a significant presence in the ghoul world.

Initially, his plan was to subdue Rize Kamishiro. However, dealing with this unpredictable woman proved to be too difficult. He contemplated whether or not to reveal himself to the Anteiku shop in advance, as it would facilitate future contact.

Killing individuals like Asaki Fueguchi and Touka Kirishima would only create enemies with the Anteiku shop without benefiting him in any way.

Touka, Kaneki, and Asaki Fueguchi managed to escape and return to the coffee shop.

Upon seeing the heavily injured Asaki Fueguchi, Hinami Fueguchi and Ryouko Fueguchi immediately embraced him, overwhelmed with emotions.

Back at the shop, Yoshimura forbade any further involvement from the shop. However, Touka, impatient as she was, disregarded his instructions and had no choice but to rush with Kaneki on a rescue mission.

Yoshimura had his own standards and didn't allow members of the Anteiku shop to harm investigators and civilians. If they insisted on taking action, they would have to face the consequences, even if it meant risking their lives.

Now, seeing the group return safely, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Touka, what exactly happened?" Kaya Irimi, observant as she was, knew Touka's abilities. She understood that Touka could handle peaceful situations, but dealing with investigators and even the ghoul Yamori would be impossible.

Touka hesitated for a moment, then explained in detail what had occurred.

The group fell into silence.

Especially Touka and the others, their eyes focused on Kaneki.

The investigator had likely already recognized Kaneki's true identity. In other words, the entire Anteiku shop was likely exposed.

"Manager, it's all my fault. I can turn myself in," Kaneki gritted his teeth and spoke up.

"No!" Touka and Hinami exclaimed almost simultaneously.

After all, Kaneki had gotten involved in this matter because of the Fueguchi family.

"There's no need for that."

Yoshimura, who had remained silent, shook his head and finally spoke. He had never encountered an investigator who showed such goodwill before.

For investigators, the conflict between ghouls and humans had always seemed irreconcilable.

"If we act irrationally at this moment, it will only be seen as a confession. It's better if everything continues as usual."

Yoshimura's eyes held depth. "Perhaps he could become our friend."

Their once silent hearts suddenly stirred. Yoshimura had been content with staying in the peaceful zone and protecting it; maintaining peace was enough for him.

But Lin Yi's goodwill made him feel that their ideals were very similar.

Perhaps peaceful coexistence between humans and ghouls was possible.

On the other side, Lin Yi ordered the arriving CCG members to handle the scene, while he himself went directly to the hospital.

When he arrived, Kureo Mado had already been rushed into the intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment, and Koutarou Amon's injuries were not severe, just a broken leg. After receiving simple bandaging, Amon was waiting outside the ICU.

When Amon saw Lin Yi's arrival, he managed to stand up with the help of crutches.

"Senior, thank you!"

"No need to be polite. How is the old man?" Lin Yi asked.

Amon shook his head. The doctor hadn't come out yet.

Lin Yi acknowledged his response with a nod and waited alongside him.

"If you have any questions, feel free to ask me directly."

"Senior, you advised me and Senior Mado not to get involved in the affairs of the 20th ward. This indicates that you already knew about the existence of ghouls in the 20th ward. Why did you turn a blind eye?" Amon finally spoke up, unable to comprehend many things. Since Lin Yi mentioned it, he decided to voice his concerns.

Lin Yi interrupted him.

"Amon, this world is not simply black and white. I didn't want Mado to get involved because the old man... he is too extreme."

Amon fell silent. He had followed Kureo Mado for some time and couldn't refute this point.

Indeed, Mado possessed an almost pathological obsession and a murderous intent towards ghouls.

"Do you know why the 20th ward is called the Peaceful Zone?"

Amon shook his head.

"Because in the 20th ward, there is a group of individuals who maintain order. Although they are ghouls, they abide by the principle of not harming humans."

Amon's eyes widened, feeling like he had heard something unbelievable.

"These ghouls mainly feed on the corpses of humans who committed suicide. With my abilities, I can confidently tell you that if the CCG is truly prepared to deal with this group, they need to be ready for war."

"War?"

"Yes, war!"

Lin Yi reiterated.

Amon fell silent, hesitating for a long time before finally managing to stand up and bow.

"I understand, Senior Lin. I will keep today's events a secret."

Lin Yi nodded.

At that moment, the door of the intensive care unit opened, and a sweating attending physician emerged. Lin Yi quickly approached and inquired about the situation.

"The patient is now out of danger, but the injury to his right leg is severe. It has affected the bone, and he won't be able to engage in any strenuous activities in the future, or it could result in permanent damage."

Both Lin Yi and Amon fell silent.

For an investigator, being unable to partake in strenuous activities meant the end of their career.

But for Mado, what difference did it make compared to death?

"Hehe."

After a long time, Lin Yi smiled.

"For the old man, it might be a fitting end." Lin Yi shook his head and left.

The attending physician had explained that the patient was still in a coma and needed time to recover. Lin Yi could only plan to visit another day.

Amon stayed behind to take care of Mado.
