Luna's First Task

I still didn't believe that I was a she-wolf with white fur even after I turned to my normal shape, I still wondered how it could happen. None of my parents was a werewolf, that was what my mother once told me; but was that true? I never met my father in my whole life, though.

I wiped perplexity out of my face in uneasiness as I sat on the bed of my chamber provided by the royals. Not only did they annul my chastisement, but they also treated me like I was their asset when they found out my identity as a werewolf.

This bedroom was even bigger than the chamber I stayed in previously; not only the grand bed, I was also indulged with the awesome vanity table and wardrobe with many clothes inside it.

However, the King's words in the hall still danced in my head. "She is the Luna we have been waiting for.'' What did he mean? To my knowledge, Luna should be a daughter of an alpha.

I sneered at myself for that thought. How could a witch's daughter have an alpha's father? However, even my shapeshifting into a she-wolf was a miracle; so, could it be that my father was also a werewolf?

I stood to my feet and bit my finger in nervousness at my own speculation. It was not only about my status that made me confused but also how I could return to my world.

"Miss Xima….it's me, Amber." Amber's excited voice pulled me out of my daydreaming. Even Amber now referred to me with that honor, Miss. "Miss Xima, I bring you your dinner as you might be starving now." Her voice was louder.

"Yes, wait!"

I stepped toward the doorway in spite of the reluctance I felt in my heart as I didn't want to eat anything tonight. After that nightmare, I could not even think of filling my stomach; what I wanted was sleep to forget the reality of my true self.

Amber's smiley face greeted me as the door slid open. My eyes found a tray with meals on it which she held and served in front of me.

"Ms.Xima…It's His Majesty who ordered me to serve you this food. This is one of the best cuisines in our kingdom which I am sure you will like."

Even though I had lost my appetite to eat, I couldn't disappoint Amber who had sent it to me. That fat woman looked at me with her eyes lit in excitement as if she did something big for me.

"Thanks, " I muttered while receiving the tray. I forced a smile on my lips.

She bid good night as soon as she had moved the meals to my hands. I watched her back until it vanished in the next corridor before I closed the door.

It was yesterday night the last time I had my meals but it was weird that I didn't feel hungry. Was it the effect of being a powerful she-wolf? I needed no food to quench my hunger.

I woke up late this morning when Amber came with a beautiful royal gown I should wear to see the King today. My eyes didn't flicker, admiring the beauty of it, a long dress reaching my heels with round neck and elbow-length sleeves in peach, my favorite color.

Amber helped me with the make-up and hair-do. She put a white-flower crown on my head with curly red hair and brushed some powder on my freckled fair face, then pink eyeshadow to sharpen my green eyes.

"You look gorgeous, Miss." She praised me as soon as she finished her task. I only smiled at her compliment.

This was the first time I used make-up and wore a fancy gown in my whole life. Living in poverty in the village with my witch mother who had no stable job, I never got any exposure to luxury.

I should not be melancholic at this moment, otherwise I could be in tears and ruin my makeup. My lips parted into a small smile which reflected through the mirror.

Amber was busy taking care of everything behind me so it was good that she didn't catch that I was in sadness for a while. That woman was like a friend to me. She would be able to read what I had in my mind.

"Miss Xima, the guards who will send you to the meeting hall have been waiting outside. You can leave now." Amber reminded me.

"Alright,"

I rose from my seat and walked to the door while lifting both hems of my dress, to avoid my steps on it. Amber assisted me at my back; it was like I was in a wedding. That wild imagination hit me which left a grin on the corners of my mouth.

"I'll take you to the King, Your Highness." One of the bodyguards announced as soon as the open door revealed my figure.

What did he say? That was how a royal was referred to, Your Highness. I had the urge to ask why he called me that way, but that man had extended his man, showing me the path to the meeting hall.

I entered the hall with my heart, not in fear but nervousness. This time, I was not judged for my mistake but a surprise was probably waiting for me inside.

Everyone's eyes set on me who was slowly striding toward the center in front of the King's throne while struggling with my gown which was sweeping the floor. I knew not any of them who were standing in line welcoming me but one young man, Kane.

He looked super handmade in his warrior costume with a sword leaning against one of his arms. His eyes set straight ahead of him, unlike the others who stared at me.

"Welcome to our palace, Luna!" The King greeted me as soon as I stopped right before him and bowed. "You may need to introduce yourself to the royal members."

My lips hesitantly stretched into a smile before I mentioned who I was to the people in the room. Their eyes still lingered on me as though I would vanish if their eyes blinked.

"My name's Xima," I introduced myself with a blush of shyness on my face as I was surrounded by many people I was not familiar with, still I didn't mention my full name.

"She is our Luna." The King continued, followed by people's applause; I was elated for the warm welcome from the royal families and bent my head down. "Luna, you will be in charge of your first task which is to search for my son, the Prince of the Kingdom, Aragon, along with Kane."

My head instantly jerked up. The King's declaration blew me with shock; he treated me nicely because I was a tool for him to pursue his goal. My eyes moved to Kane who didn't say anything, freezing in his spot. That dashing young man didn't even feel bothered to spare his glance at me.

"What would you rather choose, entering the mysterious realm or the real world with many villains inside it?"
