The Wen Family

Wen Fei Fei burst out laughing uncontrollably. She looked crazy as her reddened eyes produced even more tears with lips smeared with blood. "You all accused me of infidelity yet you still have the guts to call him your Xie family's child. Have you no shame?"

"So what if I call him our Xie family's child? As a member of this family, I naturally cannot air my family's dirty laundry in public!"

Wen Fei Fei shook her head and wiped her lips. Arguing with such a person was pointless. She was so unreasonable and rooted in her own ideas. Was she really Xie Zhang Wei's mother?

"Why are you all here?"

Father Xie cleared his throat. " Xie Zhang Wei is gone and your carelessness has cost us a child. Since you've been with this family for years, we'd naturally be considerate on behalf of old times sake and not pursue this matter but you have to leave the Xie family and the Capital Planet completely."

She stared at each and every one of them calmly. This was it wasn't it? She had no plans on staying in this family full of white eyed wolves anyways.

She looked to grandpa Xie. He avoided her eyes. He'd been silent all this time but the fact that father Xie could say those words only meant he had his approval.

She nodded. "Okay. Anything else?"

Luo Ran spoke up. "Did you really sign off all of eldest brother-in-law's resources? Did you really leave none for your child?"

The rest looked on eagerly. Even at this point they were still after her husband's resources. Did they really have no shame?

She hummed with a mocking sneer. "It's all gone."

They all filed out the same way they came in. Luo Ran kept looking back reluctantly. She felt Wen Fei Fei was hiding some resources.

There was so much after all. Could she really bear to have kept none aside for her son? She finally looked away when her husband held her and walked out.

Wen Fei Fei slumped on the bed in tears. She looked around. The nurses must have left at some point when the Xie family came in.

She bit her lips till she started bleeding. Xie family. She was going to make them pay.

One week later, she was on a spaceship headed for Planet Xin, a third rate planet where the Wen family resided.

She'd met Xie Zhang Wei when he was much younger and carrying out a mission on this planet. She resisted the urge to burst into tears.

She'd really failed him. She left Planet Xin in the arms of her hero husband and came back empty handed and alone. She hadn't even brought her child to meet her parents yet.

He wasn't even named yet. She was really useless.

The spaceship finally reached Planet Xin and she alighted the ship with the rest of the passengers when the prompt was given.

She tugged on her scarf and adjusted her glasses as she arrived at the spaceship dock. Being the wife of a National hero, she was fairly popular.

The Wen family were all outside, awaiting her arrival. Mother Wen stood, teary eyed, in the arms of father Wen while her brother stood by the side, barely containing his anger.

The minute Wen Fei Fei saw them, she almost broke down in tears. She walked up to them and was engulfed in a hug.

Brother Wen was red eyed: "Sister...."

"My dear child. We heard the news, it's all over the Planets of the Federation." Mother Wen barely held back her tears.

Father Wen cleared his throat and said sternly, "She just arrived. Why don't we have this conversation when we get home and she has properly rested?" Although his red eyes showcased his true thoughts.

"Ah, look at me!" Mother Wen smacked her head. "Come, come, let's get you home. You look so skinny, it's been hard on you. I prepared all your favourites."

Wen Fei Fei just smiled wryly and said nothing.

BANG!

Wen Fei Fei's younger brother, Wen Xiwang, smacked the table in anger when she finished narrating the events of the past months to them.

Even Father's Wen's fists were tightly clenched at his sides and Mother Wen just directly burst out crying.

"How could the Xie family be so heartless?! Aren't they looking down on our Wen family too much?!" Wen Xiwang could barely contain himself.

He was one of the hot blooded younger generations that looked up to Xie Zhang Wei and recognized him as his idol.

He was so glad when his sister got married to his idol and always basked in the envious gazes of his friends.

He was already heartbroken by his idol's death and now he found out what despicable people his in-laws were.

He looked to his sister in sadness. Even him could feel this much heartache just from hearing about it, how much more she who had gone through the situation firsthand?

He clenched his fists. The Wen family was a civilian family and had little to do with the military. It was a fluke that his sister managed to get married into an influential military family and it directly shot up the Wen family's status into the elites.

Things were different now that his brother-in-law was gone. Even if they all turned a blind eye to it, they clearly knew that other people's attitudes towards them were beginning to change.

He was fortunate to be born with A rank potential. It was the best that has been seen in the Wen family for a hundred years and he was training to become a soldier.

His plan was to join his brother-in-law's troops when he graduated but now things were different. His brother-in-law was dead and the Four great Marshals were gunning for his troops. He knew clearly that if they couldn't get it, they would all opt for disbandment.

If only he could graduate faster then he could join the army and have the Wen family depend on him. Even if he wasn't super talented, he still had A rank potential and could operate an Intermediate Mecha.

He looked to his big sister again. She must be in so much pain. First her husband and then her child. He didn't even get to meet his little nephew. If only he worked a bit harder, he sighed sorrowfully.

Wen Fei Fei stared at her family members for a while before walking up to her room. Her heart felt hollow as tears streamed down her cheeks.

She had just laid on her bed when she noticed the piece of paper on her bedside table. Paper? In this era?

She reached out to open it and after reading the contents, her eyes shook.
