The Second Assessment Training

The first assessment was over. Although it was a form of screening, none of the pre-enrolled cadets were sent off.

The kids who managed to get this far would definitely not be dumb. Imagine going as far as the preliminaries and spending some months here only to be sent off before the real assessments began.

The pre-enrolled cadets were currently gathered in a large field, awaiting the masters from the Academy.

Although they still had their seniors to guide them, a master from the Academy would be in charge of giving general instructions and supervising their progress for the next phase of the assessment.

Nothing has been said about the virtual Mechas yet but the kids were patient.

High up in a place the cadets couldn't see, two spirit masters stood side by side. One in the Platinum phase and the other in the White gold Phase.

The one in the White gold Phase looked up at the other one with a fawning smile.

"Elder Gu, that tiny one over there seems to be the one who impressed the principal with his answer."

Although they could be considered to be at least a mile away, seeing this far was no problem to spirit masters who had assimilated to their level.

The Platinum phase Spirit master, Elder Gu, narrowed his eyes on Wen Yu's little figure, currently looking around the field with an indifferent expression.

He looked away with an unimpressed humph. "Shameless! So young but already knows how to scheme. Going as far as to hide his true phase with an item in order to deceive the masses."

The other guy nodded along. "Yes, yes, only kids like him would be deceived by this move. Even if he showed excellent thinking capacity and adaptability in the exams, with potential so bad, he can only be a dog for the strong."

Elder Gu swayed his head from side to side, looking thoughtful. "That item on the kid seems to be really valuable. I wouldn't have been able to detect it if not for my high assimilation."

"The kids all say he was able to deflect spirit energy of the Azure phase but looking at his potential, I bet it was due to that item, " The other one continued.

"That item seems to be not so simple, " Elder Gu inclined his head, "Go back and inform the principal that the kid is nothing but sugar coated garbage. He shouldn't waste his time."

The other one nodded quickly and his figure disappeared in a flash. Elder Gu waved and his figure also disappeared only to reappear some meters close to the field.

He clasped his hands behind his back and slowly walked up to the platform.

By now, the kids were all secretly sighing in relief. They'd been waiting out here for hours but no one showed up, they could barely mask their aggrieved expressions anymore.

"It's Elder Gu." One of the grumbling cadets finally recognized the Spirit master before them and excited murmurings filled the air.

The pre-enrolled cadets have been in Lingxiu Academy long enough to identify some key figures and this Elder Gu was one of them. He was a Spirit Master in the Platinum phase!

It was quite a surprise to some that, being a high leveled Spirit master, the Elder was actually not a Mecha operator.

He was actually a Mecha engineer and one the was highly sought after in the Federation. He was also said to have an eccentric character so the kids were quite amazed to see him here.

Was he really going to be their supervisor for this stage of the assessment? The elite kids were still able to curtail their excitements but the commoner kids were directly hopping from happiness.

This was a famous Spirit master ah. One that directly worked with the Federation to research the latest generation of Mechas!

Wen Yu observed the man on the stage with clenched fists. A Mecha engineer in the Platinum phase, the man was basically walking gold! Must be nice to be so highly sought after, who would dare openly go against him?

He didn't even need to lift a finger before the Mecha operators come rushing over themselves in order to buy his favour!

But, if his character was indeed as the rumours stated, why was he here? There was no way Lingxiu would bother such a highly sought after master over some pre-enrolled cadets.

Wen Yu's eyes trailed over to the platform and accidentally locked with the Spirit master's. The man immediately sneered and looked the other way.

'...' Why did the master act like there were deep grudges between them? He thought back to all his encounters in this life and he was certain he'd never met this man before.

He shivered slightly and his hand subconsciously went up to tap the energy dispersing ring hanging on his neck and hidden behind his uniform.

How unlucky. Attracting this master's ire without even doing anything. Just one look and it felt as though his life expectancy has been cut short, how troublesome.

In the end, the Spirit master remained silent and ignored them all before another fairly popular Spirit master in the White gold phase walked up to the stage and took over.

Elder Gu's eyes trailed over the cadets once more before landing on Wen Yu again. "Despicable," He humphed before his figure flashed from the stage.

Wen Yu: '...' What really did he do to anger the Spirit master?

The cadets finally received information on what was required of them. The second training was going to be focused on honing their discipline and basic survival skills.

Meaning this phase of the assessment was more outdoorsy. They were going to be moved to camps on one of the personal minor Planets belonging to Lingxiu Academy.

Some kids trembled in excitement. Although the Planet wasn't mentioned, they were still very happy to leave the walls of Lingxiu Academy. Some of them were already taking this as a sort of relaxing vacation.

The Spirit master ignored the pleased looks of the kids and directly instructed them to get prepared. They were leaving in two days.
