Subtle Thieves

Wen Yu spent all his time in the sticky environment, trying to see if he could break through this elastic binding. He couldn't even tell how much time he'd spent in here and he was beginning to go crazy.

The only sounds that accompanied him were faint gurgling sounds and a steady pumping sound that became erratic every once in a while.

He didn't even feel hunger. Was this really hell? Was he going to spend the rest of eternity like this?

The angry young master finally amassed what little strength he could and focused all his energy on hitting against the elastic wall. It was useless. He couldn't even see what the elastic wall looked like.

He soon eased into unconsciousness. He'd used his last bit of strength to struggle against the troublesome wall.

Wen Fei Fei patted her stomach when the little one finally stopped kicking and stared at the picture frame by the bedside with vacant eyes.

She'd looked over the news reports repeatedly. Xie Zhangwei had carried out an attack on the three military strongholds of the Federation and while his actions were enough to brand him as a National traitor,

His subordinates had managed to quell the people's doubts with proof that three of the four Great Marshals of the Federation were attempting treason.

It still wasn't enough to take out the old men though. They had people in high positions willing to take the fall for them and then they feigned grief and blamed themselves for her husband's death.

Saying if only they'd paid more attention to the traitors in their ranks, then they would have been able to stop them and one of the brightest stars of the Federation wouldn't have had to risk his life.

She'd smacked the table in anger when she'd watched it. How shameless! Did those men really think everybody had holes in their brains?

They didn't even bother to fake their grief for too long as they were already hollering to split her husband's troops amongst themselves.

Her eyes turned red as she looked on at Zhang Wei's picture. She was already seven months gone and their child was due in two months.

Those wolves were waiting to see the potential of the child as the position of the family head depended on his gifts.

If he managed to have an SSS rank spirit potential like his father then he'd be cultivated, even SS rank was exceptional. She didn't dare to think of what would happen if his potential was below that.

They were already two SS rank great grandsons and an S rank great granddaughter. The parents of these kids were already eyeing Zhang Wei's resources like dogs eyed shit.

Those resources belonged to her child! He lost his father before he was even born and yet they wouldn't let him keep this bit. Heartless beasts!

She felt hopeless. Those wolves would dare to eye her son's rights only because she was weak and her family standing wasn't high enough.

When Xie Zhangwei was here, they ran over themselves in order to get in her good graces but the moment something went wrong, they turned around and spit on her and Zhangwei's child. What a good family!

She'd been drowning in her own grief for weeks. Crying and sleeping, only to wake up and cry again. It was an unending cycle. It was time to stop.

Zhangwei might not be here anymore but she had something that tied them both, a product of their love. She couldn't let her son be born to a crying mess of a mother.

She was going to nurture her child carefully and when the time was right, he was going to be a star that will shine so bright it will burn the eyes of those pretentious old geezers.

Wen Fei Fei rubbed her stomach to calm herself as she stood up and freshened up. It was time to weather the storm.

She walked down the stairs gracefully and came to the great hall where the entire Xie family were already gathered and arguing their throats hoarse.

All this for something that didn't belong to them. She'd see how they'd bypass her and grab onto these resources!

They went quiet when they noticed her and looked at her with guarded looks like she was going to steal their treasure.

She scoffed. Who the real thieves were, they all clearly knew.

Someone coughed, father Xie's younger brother, Xie Zhi Yuan. "Niece-in-law, the military resources is due to be delivered in six months, have you thought of how to allocate the resources? They are so many talented younger generation after all, it'd be a shame if they aren't properly nurtured."

Father Xie immediately slammed the high quality, reinforced, concrete table and it split into two halves. He might not be as talented as his son and was only an A rank Spirit master but his spirit energy was already at the Magenta stage and carried quite a bit of force.

"When is it your turn to eye my son's resources? You're only yapping about sharing it fairly because two out of the three talented young ones are your grandchildren. Do you think we all have mud in our brains?"

"So what if I'm doing this for my grandchildren? As a member of the Xie family, you're supposed to think about the family first. What are you being so stingy for? It's not as if you do not have a grandchild with an SS rank spirit potential, why are you being pretentious?"

Father Xie was so angry he kept stammering and pointing at his shameless younger brother. He was so lucky fighting was prohibited in family meetings else he would have turned him to meat paste.

Xie Zhi Yuan just humphed and looked away. Want to retain the position of family head in your family? You have to see if you have the ability first!

At this time, Luo Ran stepped forward gracefully and curtsied before everyone. "If I may speak, I do not think it's right to keep fighting at this time. We lost an important family member and are all high strung with grief so we shouldn't let this little matter get in between us."

Wen Fei Fei sneered at the pretentious woman. "If you knew you would offend why did you bother to speak then?" Was she trying to put her on spot? "Why didn't you just shut up and sit quietly?"

Luo Ran gasped and Xie Hanwei stood up to hold her. "Wen Fei Fei don't go too far. Luo Ran was only putting you into consideration and giving you a way out."

Wen Fei Fei laughed coldly. "Giving me a way out? Of what? Do I look trapped? Did I ask for her help?"

She looked to Luo Ran who had a complacent smile on her face. Ever since the shameless woman gave birth to little Xie Weida and he was tested to have an SS rank spirit potential, she'd been acting unbridled in the Xie family.

Did she really think she was everything because of a mere SS ranked child? She kept acting like the entire galaxy was her stepping stone to greatness.

Wen Fei Fei was truly dumbfounded by this woman's stupidity. Did she not know that the brightest flowers attracted the most bees? Just look at his name!

This kind of mother would confidently push her child into a quagmire of problems. Poor Weida, born with so much potential but might be ruined due to the enemies his mother would attract on his behalf.

She shook her head as she stared at grandpa Xie. "What must be done, this granddaughter-in-law naturally knows."

She turned around and walked away, anyways she wasn't promising them anything. If not that Xie Zhangwei had signed the rights to his resources to her, they wouldn't be this courteous.
