Peerless Genius

Wen Yu grit his teeth and directly turned around to leave. There was no use in remaining here, he'd just be waiting for trouble to come smack him in the face.

The stupid rumour had already made him a target. He was just like fresh meat in a den of hungry wolves.

He'd just gotten to the door when a kid in the Academy's white and gold uniform came right in, blocking his way out. A little girl, also in white and gold, was right beside him.

The kid scrutinized him for a while before raising his chin and asking. "Are you Wen Yu?"

Wen Yu: '...' If I say no would you leave?

Qi San came forward with raised chin. "What do you need our big bro Yu for?"

Wen Yu again: '...' Qi San ah Qi San, did no one ever tell you that pride comes before a fall?

Whilst Wen Yu was internally panicking, his face remained cold and aloof. Anyways if the kid used spirit energy it would have no effect on him.

His only worry was that things might get to physical blows. His body was too frail, he wouldn't be able to withstand it.

Wen Yu's eyes trailed to the brooch on their chests and he was stunned. Xie Jingcai and Xie Youya. They were both a year older so they must have gotten in with the last batch.

No wonder he never saw them around. He'd been wondering what happened to them all this while.

He clasped his hands behind his back, holding his milk packet tightly as he nodded calmly. "What do you need?"

Xie Youya stared at him in suspicion. "Are you really Wen Yu?"

If you weren't sure of who I was how could you so confidently block my way? Can you not see the name tag on my chest? So infuriating. Wen Yu pursed his lips.

"Did you really deflect senior sister Hong's spirit energy?" Xie Youya spread out her spirit consciousness. "I can't detect your spirit energy phase at all."

Wen Yu nodded sagely. "As should be." He was only bluffing ah. How could she detect his phase? His spirit energy was so low it was basically nonexistent!

Xie Jingcai said nothing and just calmly directed a wave of his spirit energy at Wen Yu.

Nothing happened to him. Wen Yu stood there calmly with his hands behind his back but the cadets around him including Qi San and Huo Lan had been blown back a few steps.

Collective gasps filled the air and Xie Jingcai's eyes shook. Was the boy really a peerless genius? Many people may not know but he was already at the middle stage of the Green Phase.

It was one of the best in his set. Even the talented pre-enrolled cadet, Han Zihao, with SSS rank potential was only in the early stage of the Green Phase at this time!

Murmurings filled the air and Wen Yu took this time, when they were all distracted by their thoughts, to leave the canteen. He was never going back there again!

Qi San and Huo Lan followed right in time to see him pulling the brooch off his chest.

His name was popular now but not every one knew what he looked like. Not a lot of kids visited the canteen anyways and he was sure the ones back there were hardly paying attention to his face the moment Xie Jingcai walked in.

Qi San scratched his head. "Big bro Yu why did you take off your brooch? How would people identify you now?"

Wen Yu gave him a cursory glance. "A bright light would only attract moths. You need to learn when to lay low and do the unexpected."

Huo Lan jumped. "Oh I know. This must be the definition of the saying 'playing a pig to eat the tiger."

BAH! What pig? What tiger? He was only trying to save his life! Wen Yu thought but nodded at Huo Lan anyways.

Qi San sighed. "As expected of a peerless genius like big bro Yu, so insightful. Mere mortals like us can only stare in awe."

Wen Yu's stomach grumbled: '...' So embarrassing. He'd only had crackers and two packets of milk today. It was a little past lunchtime but he really didn't want to go back there.

Qi San's eyes widened. "Big bro Yu, you must be hungry, you didn't get to eat anything before that annoying senior came in. No need to stress yourself, this little brother would get food for you!"

Wen Yu: Y....Y Qi San had never looked so adorable to him as he did now. Maybe the kid's straightforward personality was not that bad after all.

He sipped on his milk with renewed strength and disintegrated the empty packet with his bracelet right after.

Qi San rushed back into the canteen whilst Huo Lan accompanied him back to the dorm.

When Qi San joined them in the room, his meaty hands were full of food, snacks and various tiny gadgets.

Wen Yu was stunned. Why did he have so much on him?

Qi San dumped his loot on the table and gestured to Wen Yu. "Big bro Yu you won't believe it. The moment I walked back into the canteen to get food for you, those other kids all rushed to me giving me all sorts of gifts for you."

Wen Yu frowned and walked over to grab the box of food first. "Why would they give me gifts?"

Qi San pouted. "Of course it's to curry favour with you. Look Big bro Yu, you better not forget us your loyal roommates now that you've become a big shot."

Huo Lan nodded along as he looked through the various gadgets. This was all good stuff ah, as expected of kids from elite families.

"Return them."

"Of course!" Qi San nodded and was about to carry the stuff over to Wen Yu's bunk when he paused. "Return?"

Wen Yu nodded with puffed cheeks as he chewed on a spicy meat bun. How could he dare to take the stuff of those elite kids?

Some of these were precious stuff given to them by their families. If it ended up in his hands, he'd only get in trouble.

Besides, these kids probably wanted to use him as a meat shield for when they conveniently go and seek trouble with the seniors. So vicious!

He watched on with a cold look as Qi San and Huo Lan, with eyes full of unshed tears, packed up the gadgets and returned them to the owners.
