Jun Muyang or the devil as he was known to his friends was sitting in his home office wondering whether he should go in to work, give an economics lecture at Crown University, the best university in B city or stay home and watch the woman's next move.
That foolish woman may not know it yet, but she was in more danger than she could anticipate. Her actions had put her in the direct cross hairs of the rebels and they would not hesitate to take her life if the opportunity came by.
Would she be able to protect herself and that innocent daughter of hers? he wondered. In silence, he contemplated how best to help her.
Perhaps he could hire bodyguards for her.
Or maybe he would advise her to hire those bodyguards for herself.
'Perhaps you should just mind your business because she is nothing to you.' a small voice whispered in his head.
Indeed, she was nobody to him.
'But she saved the lives of so many people. And she almost died while doing it. It would be unfair if you do not give her a simple warning.' another voice said.
That's true, she did the empire a big favor. He should do it as a favor for the emperor his mother's cousin.
'You will get pulled more and more into her life and drama.' the voice which disapproved warned.
'But its a good deed. She is a good person whose life is worth saving.'
With that thought, Jun Muyang made up her mind to help her. He would warn her be more careful and avail protection for her family.
His phone buzzed and he picked it up, It was another message from his mother asking about his love life.
He scoffed and ignored it.
Another buzz, he checked and it was a message from his grandfather asking him when he was planning to introduce his girlfriend and their child to him.
His phone hit the floor so hard.
He picked it up and checked to see if he had misread the text but it was the same thing. In addition, a picture of the foolish woman next door and her daughter coming from his house was attached.
He picked up the phone immediately and called his grandfather,
"Muyang, we already know everything. You don't have to explain much, I am just happy that you have finally relented and got yourself a woman.
You kid, you even exceeded my expectations and gave me a grand child. I can now give my ancestors a proper greeting after my death."
"It's not mine." he stated bluntly.
"Don't even think of denying it. You have already harmed poor Chi by not marrying her even though she had your child. You cannot shame our family by denying it.
From the pictures alone, I can tell that the child is a Jun, she has our nose."
"Old man, I think you are losing your eyesight. Take better care of yourself, I will ask Wenzhe to schedule an appointment with the family doctor immediately. I have other things to do."
With that, he hung up and called Wenzhe upstairs. The only one around him that could give information to his family was his secretary.
"Wenzhe, where did my grandfather get a picture of the neighbor coming from my house?"
Wenzhe who was innocent in this case was very shocked to hear the question.
"It's not me young master. I can swear on my family."
Jun Muyang started drumming his fingers on his table. He calmly analyzed the situation and then picked up his phone.
The picture his grandfather had sent was expertly edited, it could not be the work of Wenzhe.
He opened Weibo and saw his name trending in fourth place. He went to the only obvious source of gossip in the empire lately, the mighty little peep star. Lo and behold.
The Mighty Little peep star had posted,
[Sad news for the single ladies of the empire, rumor has it that the gorgeous Professor billionaire CEO Jun Muyang is off the market. The lucky woman is the one and only Lady Chi Lian of the fallen Chi family. Perhaps the Chi's have given birth to a Cinderella after all.]
Below the post was a picture of Chi Lian leaving Jun Muyang's house with Mei-Mei in her arms.
Another picture was of Jun Muyang standing close to Chi Lian inside the house. Their faces were so close that it looked almost like an intimate moment.
That darn paparazzo! he banged his fist on the table.
"Wenzhe, " he called harshly, "Sweep my house for bugs."
