The prince's fears

Enrico's POV

I'm worried that the dangers ahead will be stronger and thinking of losing my wife is not the best ending on my part. I don't want to see her in a perilous situation again.

She held my palm and didn't look at me. "I know you're worried that I might be in a dangerous situation again. We already talked about this, right? So please… no discussion about this. I want the witch kingdom to be on our side and we will come home after this. Period," she replied.

I sighed and kissed her forehead. I knew she would respond that way. I grab her waist and pin her down. I made her face the backrest.

I cuddled her and felt my wife's warmth. I don't want her to see this ugly side of me. I want her to believe that I'm supporting her.

"Hey, I know you're afraid. Just trust me, Enrico. We still have many centuries to be together," Kiara utters.

What she says makes me feel better. I kiss her nape and speak. "Uhm. I will spoil you rotten from now on, my duchess," I whispered.

She turns her body around and looks at me. My wife nestled her face on my neck after.

When we reached our next destination, it took us two days. During the times we camp outside, I never saw Kiara being disgusted or having a hard time dealing with insects that bite her porcelain skin.

We arrive at the last village before we enter Mist Mountain. This village was known for hunters and livestock businesses. You can smell the scent of different animals for meat supply.

"We'll just stay here for tonight, and let's start our journey on that mountain. I will ask Sam and some of the soldiers to wait for us there," I stated.

She nods and yawns. I smiled and drew her hand. We chose this inn because it's far from the houses and they have hot springs as well.

"I really want to soak myself before going to bed. Order some wine and meat as well," Kiara says.

I nodded. I speak with the receptionist and she waits for me at the stairs. I notice that she's flirting with me because of how sweet her voice is. After placing my order and getting our key, I went to Kiara.

She wraps her hands around my arms. "You're taking hearts in every place we go. Should I make you ugly, honey?" she remarked, looking back on that receptionist.

That made me laugh. The sourness in her face proves that my wife was jealous of that lady who tries to flirt with me.

"As long as it's okay with you to have an ugly husband, I'm fine with that idea," I replied.

She stops just three steps before we reach the second floor. Kiara looks at me and I know she realizes that I wasn't joking as well. I smiled and stole a kiss from her pinkish lips.

"Tss," she says. She kisses me back.

As soon as we reach our room, she takes off her shoes and dress. I wrap my arms around Kiara before she takes off her underwear.

She turns around and meets my eyes. "What's wrong, Enrico? Are you tired from traveling? We should've used your wind ability if you like for faster travel," Kiara suggests. I shook my head.

"I'm okay. I just want to hug you; that's it, Kiara."

She nodded but wasn't convinced by what I said. I turn her around and look at her beautiful body.

"I wasn't joking, Kiara. By the way, what are your plans for Lou and Kate? Especially for the things they did?" I ask.

She was surprised that I suddenly asked about them out of the blue. Kiara sighs.

"If I become honest with this, I want you to kill Kate yourself," she stated.

I look into her eyes and see how serious she is. I think my wife is still insecure about her. She laughs.

"I will take care of them. They killed my father. I'll seek justice for him."

Her expression was tainted by sadness and hatred. "My dad is one of the best dads that a child could wish for. I lost him too early. Our children need such a grandpa but evil people steal those days from them," Kiara says.

I'm still sending a trusted person to trace as much evidence as possible. I blame myself for what happened to my father-in-law.

I failed him as well after he placed his bet on me. We went to the hot spring that is exclusive to our room. She soaks herself first and moans. I guess it feels good for her.

"I'm sorry for what I did. I… I am one of the reasons why Marquis Noah meets his demise that early," I commented after soaking myself too. She looks at me and I know she's trying to calm my mind.

"Do you really love me, my lord? Are you not blinded by your royal family's pressure or because I already gave birth to our quadruplets?" Kiara asks.

I held her chin and met her eyes. I have to give her an honest answer, which she can find in my mind and heart too.

"The curse is already gone. I'm no longer their puppet. I finally learned about the sacrifices you make, especially when I'm under their spell. Therefore, losing you won't be an option for the sake of the kingdom." I paused.

I give her a sweet kiss. I want her to feel my sincerity. We gasp.

"I can give up my title and go rogue if it means to be with you and our children. I will make them pay for what they did to me and to your dad, I promise, Kiara."

She moves closer and embraces me. "I'm glad I didn't give up easily. I knew one day you'd see my sacrifices and appreciate me," Kiara whispers.

Taking a bath together feels good for the two of us. I wrap my hands around her. She leans her body against mine. I kiss her neck.

"I love you, my duchess. Never forget that from now on, Duchess Kiara Reeseworth Callix…" I mumbled.

She held my hand and intertwined our fingers. She kissed the back of my palm and turned her body a little bit. My wife gives me a kiss.

"I love you more than you even know."

I smiled and kissed her forehead. I don't know what trials we have to face in the misty mountains, but I'll protect my wife. We will succeed and become allies of the witch clan.

"Are you worried about our way to Mist Mountain?" she asks. I look at her. I think my wife reads my mind.
