After running away from the hospital for god knows how long...
"I... I think we've lost them..." Since Ye Fan was still injured because of Luna, coupled with the fact that he had spent most of his energy bringing Ling Feng back to life, he was completely out of breath.
"You're right, but even if we didn't, they still most likely won't do anything to us here." Since they were back in the heart of the capital city where it was completely crammed with people walking through the streets, Ling Feng concluded that Kedron wouldn't dare do anything to them here even if he had chased them all the way here.
"I... I see... but how did you manage to summon fire from your hands anyways?" Ye Fan couldn't help but ask.
Even though Ye Fan was familiar with most of the Martial Arts techniques and styles out there, he's never heard of one where someone can create an explosion out of nowhere, summon fire out of will, and spawn in some green looking transparent barrier around them.
"If you know, you know, otherwise don't ask too many questions." Although Ling Feng respected Ye Fan, he still doesn't intend to tell him or anyone else that didn't know about cultivation that he was a cultivator.
But what surprised Ling Feng was that although Ye Fan wasn't a cultivator, he still had a magic artifact on him.
After all, since magic artifacts were pretty rare, at least they are rare as of right now, most cultivators wouldn't even have a magic artifact of their own until much later down the road when forging magic equipments was much more common.
Luckily since Ye Fan had that magic artifact on him, and it was fused with multiple magic arts like Infernal Burst, and multiple defensive attributes like Qi Fortification, Ling Feng was able to use them despite his low realm and inability to currently refine qi.
Just as the group was standing around still catching their breath however...
"W-where did my grandfather go?" Suddenly realizing that Lai Ho right behind them, Lai Meiyun asked in an extremely nervous voice.
Both Ling Feng and Ye Fan who had witnessed her Grandfather being grabbed out of the fire by Kedron didn't say a single word to her and just stared at Lai Meiyun silently.
However...
*SLAP*
Lai Meiyun suddenly slapped Ling Feng.
"YOU GUYS KNEW ABOUT IT BUT DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING DID YOU!" Lai Meiyun yelled out loud and started tearing up, causing everyone who was walking on the streets to all turn their head towards them.
"Listen, I had also left my most trusted subordinate over at that hospital as well, there was really nothing we could've done about it even if we tried." Not wanting to gain more attraction from everyone else nearby, Ye Fan tried to calm Lai Meiyun down.
But it seemed like Ye Fan's attempt to comfort Lai Meiyun was futile, as Lai Meiyun's tears started to stream down even more, causing everyone to start bickering at Ling Feng and Ye Fan.
The moment Lai Meiyun heard Ling Feng's words however, she slowly started to calm down.
"No matter what, I'll save your grandfather within one week tops, I swear on my name." Ling Feng announced in a confident tone.
While Ling Feng didn't want to get involved with either Kedron or Ronald again until he was significantly much stronger, he hated being indebted to other.
And taking into account that the Lai family was the one who had introduced Ye Fan to him, he considered himself to be heavily indebted to the Lai family.
So after managing to calm Lai Meiyun down and dispersing away from Ye Fan and Lai Meiyun for now, he quickly went to a place with a natural abundance of qi around and started to cultivate in order to prepare for next week.
***
After temporary renting a mansion in the capital city for a little bit and talking to Kedron for a few hours, Ronald was currently sitting alone in the living room of the mansion thinking about the conversation he just had with Kedron.
One of the reasons why Ronald has not ever once encountered or even heard of these 'Overseers' before in his previous life was because his dad had specifically ordered them to not interfere with the development of the Kuangge family over at China no matter what, unless if stated so otherwise.
This was mainly because his dad didn't want the world to know that the Kuangge family in the US and the Kuangge family in China were in relations to one another.
As for the reason why his dad didn't want people to know?
No idea whatsoever.
If he had to guess though, it was probably because this stupid world wanted Ye Fan to flourish or something like that, and Ye Fan wouldn't of been able to do so if these 'overseers' had decided to show up this early on in the novel all of a sudden.
Also apparently the original Ronald had knew about these overseers beforehand, which was the reason why Kedron was surprised when Ronald didn't initially recognize him.
Anyways, since Ronald had decided to kidnap Princess Sophia in this life, therefore causing her and the Queen to live in the Kuangge's family manor now, his dad had ordered three of the Overseers to take care of the problem without leaving behind any traces.
But since the Leighton family was a Royal family, it was practically impossible to do.
So the three overseers concluded that they should just ask Ronald for help instead, which is the reason why Kedron was currently with him right now and will stay by his side until it's guaranteed that Princess Sophia is gone from the family manor.
Now of course, Ronald didn't really mind that he had Kedron by his side since he could tell that Kedron was absolutely loyal to the Kuangge family, but he was honestly slightly pissed off that he didn't know about him beforehand.
After all, if Ronald had known about Kedron beforehand, he would've just asked him for help instead of going through great lengths just to save Lin Minyi.
But oh well, what's done is done.
The only thing that Ronald had to worry about now was Ling Feng.
Since Ling Feng was considered a protagonist as well, and one that Ronald knows for a fact will undoubtedly change the course of this world therefore indirectly ruining his future plots...
Ling Feng MUST die.
No matter what.
So with that in mind...
"System."
[Yes, host?]
"You said that you don't care what I do to Ling Feng, right?"
[That's correct host, but it's suggested that you shouldn't try to do anything to him.]
"You've told me this before, but why's that again?"
[As previously mentioned before host, since you have the Villain's Aura bounded to you, Ling Feng will still eventually survive no matter how strong you are.]
"Right... but let's say that instead of me trying to kill him, what if I get another protagonist to kill him instead, like Ye Fan. They're both considered Sons of Heaven after all."
[...]
[Hypothetically speaking, it is possible, but it would be hard to do so.]
"And why's that?"
[Just like how your Villain Aura can easily befriend other Villains that also have a Villain Aura and are considered Villains in the novel, Protagonists can easily befriend each other as well despite their major flaws.]
"You seem to know quite a lot about protagonists despite only ever having met one other protagonist besides Ye Fan."
[I'm just basing it off of how the Villain Aura works.]
"Is that so... well it seems like that's where our opinion differs, but anyways, as long as it's a protagonist that tries to kill him, then it could potentially work, correct?"
[Yes, host.]
"I see..."
"Kedron." Ronald suddenly called out.
Then after waiting for a couple of seconds, Kedron suddenly appeared behind the couch that Ronald was sitting on seemingly out of nowhere.
"What's up?" Kedron asked in an informal but respectful manner.
"Did you get any valuable information out of Lai Ho yet? Specifically any classified information that this country may pertain." Since Lai Ho was a former Lieutenant General for China's army, Ronald decided that while he currently has Lai Ho locked inside a torture chamber, he might as well learn something new about China that he didn't know about already.
More knowledge didn't typically hurt after all... until someone learns that this was just a novel world, and everything they've come to known and love will end after Ye Fan finishes his stupid adventures.
"Not yet, he's quite a stubborn guy after all. So we're just drowning him in acid water at the moment." Kedron shrugged.
"Well that is to be expected anyways, so just continue doing whatever you're doing, but make sure you don't end up accidentally killing the guy. By the way, I have another task for you to do."
"What is it?"
"In the hospital that we were just at about a couple of hours ago, there's a girl that goes by the name of Iris. She has long brown hair and light brown eyes. She's also extremely beautiful so you will definitely know who I'm talking about when you see her. Well anyways, the reason why I'm telling you all of this is because..." Ronald paused for a brief second before announcing his next words.
"I want her dead."
