Interception

===================

To pressure Sitwell, Pierce waved towards the shadows.

A tall man wearing a black Kevlar combat suit and goggles, with messy hair, emerged from the darkness. Seeing his metallic arm, the bald brother knew he could no longer refuse; his heart was filled with anxiety and a hint of resentment, but he didn't dare to show it and quickly lowered his head in obedience.

...

Thanks to his good performance in sending Doom "to hell," Hammer Industries received recognition from the Department of Defense, securing a five-year major contract.

Besides the originally planned twenty robot soldiers, the military handed over a new order to Hammer Industries for four types of robot soldiers—land, sea, air, and Navy SEALs models—with ten units each, requiring delivery within six months and an upgraded 2.0 version within the year.

As Daisy walked into the S.H.I.E.L.D. underground parking garage while on the phone, she had already instructed Danger to draft a research plan to slowly guide Hammer Industries' technicians to create a new model of robot soldier named 2.0, which was more like 0.2.

Stark became the world's richest man, and no matter how much he defended it, one fact he couldn't ignore was that the Stark family's capital accumulation was built on war.

The generals only cared about results; money meant little to them. Daisy was not talking about flying rifles or walking bombs. Do you like robots? I'll make robots! The substantial profits had already made Daisy consider which model of a private jet to buy.

Caught up in her thoughts, she saw a familiar face out of the corner of her eye—a familiar bald head coming towards her.

"Agent Sitwell? Is there something?" Daisy quickly said a couple of words, hung up the phone, and asked somewhat curiously.

"Indeed, there's a bit of an issue." Daisy had nominal authority over the bald brother's combat division, and the two had many official dealings, so finding a reason to talk was easy. The bald brother picked a complex mission and wasted five minutes chatting with her.

Daisy was puzzled; what was up with this guy? Her senses picked up that the bald brother's heartbeat was extremely fast. If it weren't for the timing, Daisy might even think he had injected himself with the Extremis virus.

Pierce, monitoring remotely, kept urging, and his tone became increasingly stern. The bald brother had already imagined a bunch of sniper rifles targeting him and, with great reluctance, stomped his foot and abandoned all concerns. Biting his back teeth, he softly said, "Hail Hydra!"

Daisy was momentarily taken aback. According to common knowledge, Hydra usually operated with single-contact methods to maintain the tradition of growing two heads for every one cut off; it was very normal for different factions not to recognize each other face to face.

Viper thought nobody at the scene recognized her that day, and Daisy had thought the same. Unfortunately, they overlooked the bald brother's "ambition"—he had memorized all the major leaders' profiles, which triggered today's situation.

Although Daisy didn't understand the specific reason behind it, shouting a couple of words was no loss for her. To consolidate these Hydra members, she had even practiced in private.

With a look of finding her organization, she excitedly replied, "Hail Hydra!"

Her tone was excited, with a half-hidden exuberance, and even carried a bit of a Bavarian accent, sounding especially authentic! Her voice also resonated with a special power, very infectious! Even bringing Red Skull over might not match how well she shouted. But she wasn't stupid; being in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s parking garage, she also made sure to keep her voice low.

The bald brother heard her clearly, his heart was full of joy, and he even realized that Daisy's pronunciation was better than his, filled with power—proper Hydra through and through! He even felt he should ask Daisy for tips on how to shout with more vigor.

Sitwell felt relieved, but through the listening device on him, Pierce in the distance had a dark expression on his face.

He desperately wanted to drag Daisy in front of him and scold her—so young and promising, with a boundless future, how could she be so misguided as to join Hydra? What's so good about Hydra?!

Forcing himself to suppress his emotions, he pretended to be excited and instructed the bald brother, "Bring her out; we need to talk face-to-face."

Daisy, unaware that Pierce's paranoid delusions had reached a critical stage, saw the bald brother's seemingly kind face telling her about a mysterious person wanting to meet her. She decided to go along to see what Pierce was really thinking.

"Alright, lead the way." In order to appear poor recently, Daisy had not been driving her sports car, instead using the Chevrolet issued by S.H.I.E.L.D.

As she drove out of Washington, she chatted with the bald brother.

When he brought up Viper and hinted at defecting, Daisy realized where the problem lay.

"You know Viper? That doesn't make sense... Get down!" She hadn't finished speaking when a rocket missile whooshed from the roadside.

Daisy quickly maneuvered the car to dodge; she was timely in her reaction and her driving skills were impeccable, allowing the rocket to whisk past the car.

The bald brother was terrified, and Daisy searched for the hidden assailants.

A continuous "bang bang" of gunfire erupted as two SUVs charged from either side of the road. Each vehicle carried three gunmen, each with an M16, their movements highly trained, and they weren't there to talk; six men started firing wildly at the Chevrolet.

Another vehicle, a police car, raced from behind, but seeing the murderous look of the driver, it was obviously not a police officer.

The police car accelerated madly, while the two SUVs moved to pinch her in the middle.

Daisy's car wasn't Nick Fury's bulletproof vehicle; in an instant, it was riddled with dozens of holes. Her right hand was on the steering wheel, and her left hand pulled out a handgun, returning fire at the gunmen.

In the rapidly moving scenario with poor visibility and angles, she fired three shots and only managed to kill one gunman.

Daisy was confused; who was attacking her? She had already admitted she was Hydra, so why were they still attacking her? Were these guys anti-Hydra vigilantes?

"Ouch!" While she was considering whether to reveal her strength and fight back or to flee, the bald brother suddenly cried out, having been shot in the shoulder.

Just then, two more cars caught up from behind, one of which had Grant Ward sitting in the passenger seat. He was also an excellent shot, taking out the Hydra impersonating a police car. This handsome and charismatic man loudly shouted to Daisy, "Run, I'll cover you, go!!"

He brought five or six subordinates, and together they opened fire, briefly suppressing the gunmen sent by Pierce.

Daisy was utterly confused. She didn't know how Ward had suddenly appeared, and everything about today felt bizarre.

These guys were not uniting to stage a play to deceive her, were they? After all, they were all characters with amazing acting skills, but seeing the bald brother's gritted teeth and pained expression, she felt it was unlikely...
