Chapter 22

I'm applying medicine to his back to help ease the pain but he groans at even the slightest touch I make,

"Sorry" I felt kind of bad he got hurt, I didn't want it to end this way,

"He'll be fine when you put more pressure into it" Miss Ashley giggles while checking some reports.

I take her advice and put more force, he bites his lips to suppress the pain. A blush creeps up my cheeks, he's very muscular and it was kind of tempting as I rubbed his back. I take my eyes off him and do my job diligently,

"Thanks Eris" he smiles to himself, I stop applying and take a seat in front of him,

"Sorry it had to happen" I was still feeling guilty,

"Hey stop apologizing, I wasn't looking." He places his hand on mine and I instantly look into his eyes, those beautiful emerald eyes that held a blue in them. A smile creeps up my lips,

"You're such a dork" I remark and he laughs wholeheartedly,

"You're the first girl to tell me that" his eyes dazzle me and I'm lost in them. In this familiarity I cannot explain. But it's there.

The bell rings and we had another test. He wears his blue round neck and jumps off the bed, he smiles and takes his leave. I wash my hands and take my leave too.

I pass by the cafeteria and look at the spot where he fell, there was no water where he fell and then it hit me,

"That idiot!" He faked it and he's going to have a piece of me later. I rush to class to have my test and though it was easy I couldn't help but feel uneasy.

I walk back home and when I do get home I collapse on the couch too tired to do anything other than that. The sun rises and sets and we're having maths test. Students were happy and students were sad.

I was happy and so was Daylon.

We walk out of class,

"Maths test was a breeze!" Debbie squeals and I give a satisfied smile as a reply,

"Hey Eris" he calls me, "thanks for everything" he's really grateful,

"Not a problem, we're friends after all" my words made him smile, "how's your back by the way?" And my words made him panic,

"It still hurts but it's getting better" he lies trying to feign discomfort,

"You liar!" I aim a punch at his face but he does a back flip away from me, "so much for an injured back! Get back here!"

"Eris I can explain!!!" But I didn't want his damn explanation. I chase him until we couldn't run anymore but I gave him a piece of my mind. And my fist.

The next day comes and we are preparing for our music tests, I was practicing my notes and revising my lines. I didn't want to screw up.

Daylon asked me to help him with his music test and I agreed to play the bass for his song, he gave me the name of the song and I had to practice it along with mine in a short amount of time. He did promise to give me something for it but you know that boy, who knows what he's planning.

Debbie performs A light to call home by Julia Brennan and her performance was a stellar. Her angelic white chiffon gown made her appearance heaven on earth and there was a particular set of eyes that couldn't be removed from her figure. Bryan just happened to be a sucker for her.

"That was beautiful Debbie, I see a good grade for you!" Mr Vincent praises her for her performance and she is over the moon, "Lilac, Terra and Verra, you're up" he signals.

Lilac and her cotton candy girls come up to the stage to perform a ballet to the song Someone you loved by Lewis Capaldi. The twins wore a pink attire and she wore a dazzling white with shiny stones. Her make up was touched up and I admit she looked beautiful.

Like a white swan.

"Bravo girls!" He claps, "I could see and feel the emotions in your dance!"

"Thank you Mr Vincent" she bows and heads to her seat, "I'd like to see what you'll do" she whispers to me and laughs cruelly. She was trying to make me scared but I wasn't going to take it. I take in a deep breath and exhale, I shouldn't be afraid.

The music is in me.

"Eris, it's your turn" Mr Vincent was excited, he wanted to see what I had planned.

After a short while I come out in a black dress and some heels and I take my seat behind the piano. I tuck my hair behind my ear and place a bottle of pills and a glass of water on the piano.

I sit there for a while with my head hung, everyone starts to wonder but Mr Vincent was still waiting, even our sound technician was wondering what was wrong with me.

I raise my head and people could see tears flowing down my face, I sniff loudly and grab the bottle of pills and take an overdose. Then I begin.

I perform Undo by Sanna Nielsen and I'm playing a heartbroken girl that's committing suicide. Everyone's immersed in the song probably because I poured everything I had in me.

My family. Cody.

No one expected me to sing this kind of song, and reach those kind of notes. A strong wind blows into the studio taking everyone by surprise, everyone thought it was a special effect but I'm very sure it was someone else. An angel to be precise. At the end of the song, I drop from the chair pretending to be dead.

For a split second Daylon thought I was dead and wanted to run to me, there were tears in his eyes. He feels a thump in his chest and images of the dream flash through his eyes. His breathing picks up and he becomes unsteady, he couldn't understand why he was feeling like that.

"Bravo Eris! Bravo!" Mr Vincent was crying and trying to wipe the tears away but they kept flowing, "A+!!! Oh God" he blows his nose, "round of applause everyone!"

Everyone begins to clap, I get up and adjust my hair with a smile, I take a small bow and wipe my face clean. I was so excited right now, I spot a feather on the piano and pick it along with my fake pills and the glass of water.

She was with me. I felt her but I couldn't see her. How I wish I could see her again.

I take my seat and I'm greeted with a bear hug,

"You were amazing!! How did you do the wind and all?!?" Debbie bombards me with questions,

"Special effects" I lie and giggle, "was I that good?"

"You made Mr Vincent cry! Girl you were good!" She playfully hits my shoulder,

"Daylon you're up" Mr Vincent says after he'd calmed down.

Daylon gets up from his seat and heads to the stage, I didn't have time to change so I just followed him to the stage with the dress on,

"So you're helping him?" Mr Vincent has this smirk on, I smile and nod, I grab the bass and ready myself. Bryan gets to the stage and stays behind the drums and he grabs a semi electric guitar.

"This song is to someone special" he begins, "because she makes me feel special" everyone coos. Lilac has stars in her eyes,

"It's me" she whispers to herself, she's currently the happiest girl in the room.

He looks around with a smile, "Eris" his eyes finally rest on me and everyone coos loudly. I'm flustered,

"No, are you okay?" I couldn't believe what he was saying, I was laughing nervously. He drags me away from the bass to the center of the stage, "what's wrong with you?" I couldn't stop smiling,

"Nothing" he beams and starts the song. He's performing I like me better by Lauv for me and everybody found it cute and catchy. Debbie was recording everything to use it against me later, she was smiling like an idiot the whole time.

Lilac's heart broke and she became the saddest person in the world and the only sad person in the studio. She thought Daylon would sing for her but ended up singing for me. She didn't understand why he didn't like her but always stuck to me.

Daylon kept me at the center of the stage and he wouldn't let me go to my bass to play until it was time for the chorus instrumental, and when that was done he'd drag me back to the center to dance with him, in essence, it was crazy.

I was laughing like a maniac because it was super funny and super fun. He was doing this to make fun of me. But on one hand the words of the song really hit me, the emotions and feelings, and when he hit that falceto, it was all for me.

"Excellent!! What a performance!!" Mr Vincent praises and everyone gives a standing ovation, "A+ to you!!" He throws kisses at us,

"I really do like me better Eris" he says to me with a beaming smile,

"Daylon you" I shake my head and hug him, he returns the embrace and spins me, "stop!!" I beg him and he does, I punch him in the shoulder with a smile and embrace him once more.

I had someone.

We take our seats and I couldn't stop thinking about what just happened, Debbie coughs and I turn to her,

"How do you feel Eris?" She grins like a maniac, I couldn't say anything but blush and look at my feet. This was too much for me. She waves her phone in front of me and I heave a heavy sigh

I knew this weekend won't be easy for me.

Other kids perform and it's Bryan's turn, he takes in a deep breath as the instrumentals start, he turns his cap backwards holding the Mic tightly,

"She just wants to flirt so I flirt right back" he starts and everyone goes 'aahhhhh', he's performing Flirt by NEFFEX and it was for a special girl. Basically every teenage boy knew that song

Debbie is now a burning candle as her crush sang and bust moves all for her, I grab my phone and press the record button as I cheered Bryan on. Sweet payback.

He drags her to the front of the stage to dance with him and from the looks of it she's about to pass out from the cuteness overload. And over blushing.

"I see what these two Boys are doing here!" Mr Vincent grins to a point of no return, "you shameless boys!" Everyone laughs at his remark and Bryan and Daylon give a mock bow,

"It's not our fault, our girls are special to us" Bryan holds Debbie's shoulders,

"Our?" We both echo and Daylon comes to hold my hand,

"We're friends aren't we?" He gives me the best smile on earth,

"Yeah but that doesn't mean you own us!" I retaliate,

"Yeah!" Debbie pushes Bryan away and folds her arms in protest,

"So should we try other methods?" Bryan asks and everybody grabs it and burst out laughing. They both give a stupid smirk and my sister and I are flushed,

"Why you?!" I try to punch Daylon and she grabs a guitar about to smash it on his head but like ninjas they dodge it and run away.

And the whole scenario plays. We chase. They run.
