A shocking discovery

When I got to my room, I immediately brought out my violin-carrying case that was hidden in a corner of my room.

It's been ages since I touch the Violin.

I opened the case and brought out the violin and bow.

It looks new as the day my dad gave it to me as a birthday present.

My dad tolerates my love for the violin more than dancing.

He was even willing to use his influence to get me admission to Juilliard, the best music school in the country but I choose dancing over it.

I secured the violin between my shoulder and chin. And the bow with my right hand. My left fingers pressed on the strings.

I started playing a piece I learned years ago.

The first touch of the bow and my fingers on the strings made my heart jump in my chest.

I missed the melody of the violin.

The music carried me away as I continued to practice the piece.

Maybe I can ditch being a dance teacher and rather join an orchestra.

My parents will approve of that.

I paused when I heard a clap.

"That's so beautiful Adeline."

I placed the violin and bow carefully on the bed and gave Brittany my full attention.

"You are so talented, Adeline. How can you be a good ballerina and a contemporary dancer and also a good Violinist at the same time." Brittany praised.

I smiled.

"Says Miss perfect who is good at everything" I teased.

"But I am not a good dancer or violinist. That's the only two things you can beat me at." She arrogantly said.

"Touché"

There was a trace of tears on her face. She wiped her face with the back of her palm.

Violin music makes everyone a sobbing mess.

"It was so beautiful, it's giving me a romantic vibe. Are you going to play this piece tonight? "she asked.

I nod.

Her eyes widened with excitement.

"Great, he will love this," She says with a dreamy stare.

"Who?" I curiously asked.

"You will soon meet him" she didn't drop a name.

"Okay" I shrugged.

"I got this for you since you love wearing my clothes now" She laid a red dress on my bed.

I was taken back "You know I am wearing your clothes?"

She laughed. "Of course, dummy I know. Because I have a lot of clothes doesn't mean I will not notice when someone is wearing them."

I rolled my eyes at her.

"Thanks anyway," I said eying the dress. It was beautiful. I was eager to try it on.

"I can pick out clothes for you instead of mom, since you don't like her fashion taste" She offers.

"No thank you, stealing your clothes is actually fun."

She laughed. "Suit yourself"

I picked up the violin and bow and resumed my practice.

She got the hint and left.

I practice for a while until I was confident I have mastered the piece.

I placed the violin and bow in the case when I was done playing.

I took a shower.

I wore the red dress.

It looks so good on me, hugging me like a second skin. Highlighting curves I haven't noticed I got.

I matched it with the black heels my mom got me.

Thank God I haven't gotten rid of the clothes my mom bought for me.

I did my makeup and hair and was ready to go.

I decided to have a final glance of myself in the mirror.

"Hey Addy"

I gasped, getting startled as my brother, Charles, face appears in the mirror.

"Charles!" I turned to face him.

He bestows me with his charming signature smile.

He laughs. "Wow you do know how to wear a dress after all Addy. I was beginning to think you are allergic to wearing dresses.," He teases me.

I gave him a playfully blow to his arms but the impact was strong than I intended.

"Ouch," he groans in pain, rubbing his rubbed. "Addy! This how your welcome your charming brother!"

I smirked. "Take it has a welcome gesture," I shrugged.

"What are you doing here? I miss you." I hugged him.

"Shouldn't you be in Rome?" My brother is spending his summer vacation travelling around Europe.

"I was in Rome ready to woo a beautiful Italian girl when Dad called to summon me here, making me missed a once in a lifetime chance of having an Italian hot sex. Dad is insufferable sometimes," He rambles.

I laughed at his frustration. "Italian hot sex huh?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yuh," He winks at me and I chuckled, nearly blushed.

Any girl with blushed profusely if my brother give winks at them.

Unlike me my brother also got the good genes in the family. He is a perfect blend of our parents. He got my dad's brown warm eyes, and his handsome aristocrat features and he got my mother perfect striking platinum blonde hair.

He is a perfect Ken doll.

So basically I got throw into a good looking family and it hard not to feel the odd one out.

"I got you something," he said.

"Turn around"

I did and I faced the mirror.

"Your hair looks hot!" he compliment me.

I smiled.

He placed a beautiful necklace around my neck.

"it's beautiful" I admire the necklace.

"Thanks." I appreciate his nice gesture. My brother might be my favorite person in my family.

"Have you seen dad?" I asked.

He shakes his head and sigh with displeasure "No I am avoiding him at all cost,"

"Don't worry he isn't going to drill you about dropping out of medical school so you could enroll in Harvard law school." Even though my brother has made quite the achievement. He finished his pre medical degree at nighteen and was in first year of medical school at the age of twenty. My parents aren't really happy or proud about it like they are supposed to be. My parent are rather pressuring Charles to be a lawyer like they have been pressuring me to be.

My father wants his only son be like him. A powerful lawyer who will join Brittany to run their law firm in the future.

But Charles interest is in operating the human brain and not wearing expensive suit to argue in a court. He wants to be a neurosurgeon.

"Dad is going to be busy interrogating Brittany's boyfriend. It seems he will be coming over. " I tell him to ease the worrywart expression on his face.

His eyes shun with interest "Brittany has a new boyfriend?"

"Yup, it seems like" I recalled Brittany said something about her boyfriend coming over when I was playing the Violin.

My brother's brown eyes flash with interested. "Rate him. Would he be a ten or just a nine. like her ex boyfriend"

I laughed. "I don't know"

My brother and I are so fond of rating every guy Brittany dates.

"I am yet to see him but I am sure he is going to be a ten. Brittany always updated her taste in men," I pointed out.

"Let's wait and see" he said.

Brittany new boyfriend can be a ten but I am sure he got nothing on William, the love of my life.

"I have to go face the awful confrontation with dad. It unenviable." He said with a dreadful face.

My dad can be scary when he disagree with you on something.

"Good luck," I wished honestly.

"See you later" He winks at me and walked out of the door.

When he left I decided to practice for the last time before heading downstairs.

After playing. I place the bow and violin back in the carrying case.

Took a few drags of breath to keep me relax.

I then curled my fingers around my violin carrying case handle, lifting it up.

I walked out of my room and headed downstairs.

When I got near the spiral staircase the doorbell rang, but I ignored it.

I took a few steps , and got to the middle of the staircase, and I suddenly raised my head.

My eyes flung wide open.

"William"

He was standing at the door. Looking perfectly handsome in a black suit different from the one I saw him wearing at the coffee shop.

What's he doing in my house?

I got the answer. My eyes weren't prepared for what will follow.

Brittany came out of nowhere and suddenly hugged him

And then she kissed him, the love of my life.

My sister is kissing my William.

Color drained from my face as my mouth hung open and my eyes doubled in its socket. A pang hit my chest.

I stood frozen at where I stood like a sculptured statue.

"Adeline" Brittany climbed up quickly to meet me. She held my hand and drag me downstairs.

"Adeline, meet my fiancé, William" She smiled widely.

"Fiancé?"

I drop the violin case to the floor.

My heart hammered so hard against my chest and it felt like I am having a heart attack.

My stomach churned and I threw up my breakfast.
