Life of a beta tester

The game Glory has been active for about 10 or so years now and 3 years in a pro scene was established. When that happened the success of the game only grew higher as time went on. We went from local to national to worldwide. Of course, I didn't sign on to the company until year 4, I was a part-timer back then.

Now...I'm what you call, what's the word? Fixer? Yeah, a fixer of sorts. You know how there's this one guy be it in the mob, or a management team, or a local guy, the one guy you can call for anything and everything.

Got a guy who's putting the screws on you behind the scenes, you call that guy. You have a "pest" problem and you need an exterminator you call that guy.

Well in the Glory Company when "unsavory" conduct is in the works you call me.

My name is Kaulon Chau.

Kaulon Chau

Main Class:???

Sub-Classes: Whatever gets the job done, EXCEPT anything with guns. No Spitfires or Launchers and F Mechanics!

Occupation&Skills: Glory Company beta-tester and coder, all-around troubleshooter. The guy the boss calls when there's a problem. Decades of gaming and arcade experience. Over a decade of coding and software testing. Handled "sensitive" matters regarding the company.

Hates the class Mechanic with a passion.

I'm gonna tell you about the matter at hand, about how an employee got greedy and breached conduct to the point he's going to be blacklisted forever in Asia as a gaming developer, or at least in China.

3 days ago this employee behind our backs replicated account cards with Admin rights on them and sold those account cards to varying parties.

You're not surprised, are you? Of course, we have a card machine here, part of our jobs. After seeing cards we didn't recognize in the log pop up across the servers we traced it back to this guy.

Liuxu Liu

Main Class: Summoner

Subclasses: Warlock, Witch

(Former)Occupation: Software coder, gaming developer for the Glory Company.

Soon to be blacklisted in China and if possible all of Asia. and will not likely find work in the gaming industry without changing his name.

The guy who got too greedy.

How did we find out it was him? Idiot didn't scrub the log history on the card machine and even used his own ID card to sign in and create the cards. Then again maybe we caught him before he had a good cover story thought up.

Either way, screw him. Boss called him into the office and I could swear I could hear the guy sobbing. Liu said he sold the cards to random punks across the darkweb and mailed the cards to dead drops, no face-to-face.

Management was pissed, we're only a few days away from our 11th year of Glory and the new server release, with many other things on the way. Bad for PR ya know, did I mention I hate PR work, PR in general? Boss wants this handled in-house.

So the boss called me told me everything, he wants it handled quietly and without exposure.

My usual response is "No problem boss." "I got it handled boss." "BRB Boss." under the best circumstances. But it's already been 3 days damage has been done with those accounts and even I can't promise things will be quiet when it's all done.

You're my best man, and the only one I can count on for this, he said.

We have 6 account cards out there, all of them with admin rights and functions, and what's more, I have 3 days at a 3-day disadvantage.

So circumstances aside, it was business as usual, Boss would handle the PR and cover up any incidents as best he could and I would try to track down those account cards.

For this job, we had to modify one of the other admin account cards to have an override command that could null other admin cards. But to get it to work I had to find the card users in-game and somehow make their HP drop to 0 for 1 whole second. That won't be easy, but I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Now entering Server 6

On a snowy field, loaded in his dark wardrobe. Dark pants, along with a vestment with messy wrappings and headband donned on his forehead, brushing up his black hair.

This is my work partner. The deadliest assassin in the office, at least when I'm using him.

"Alright..." Chau said as he admired his blade.

3 days until Server 11 and the 11th year of Glory.
