Through Life and Death

My name is Jaclyn Parker and I'm practically dead at this point. I'm laying down, sleep in my bed and I won't wake up. My mother still hasn't given up yet and is still trying to wake me up.

'Dammit, Mrs. Cavilera! I had so much damn homework I stayed up so late!' I thought as I slowly opened my eyes.

"Finally. The bus isn't here yet and I have to leave so hurry up." she said.

"Okay."

I got up, changed, grabbed my jackets, and packed my book bag. My brother, Julius, had our lunches, so I didn't worry about them. Once we got outside, the bus had just stopped and we boarded.

"You look sleepy, Jaclyn. Did you stay up again?" Allison Serrano said as she peered over her seat, in her green glasses

"Allison, I'm almost in college, so I have the right to."

"Really? You have the right to scroll through Instagram at devil's hour?"

"Actually she does." Julius said after throwing a paper ball at Ally.

"Julius?! Stop!" she yelled as the bys stopped.

My best friend, Rose Robinson, got on the bus. She was wearing her black boots, green and grey jacket, and jeans that looked almost identical to mine. She sat by me and pulled out a sketch pad and pencils.

"Hello, Jackie. Julius. Twins." she said as she began to draw and I watched.

I heard a groan and saw a brown haired girl sticking her head to the side of her seat.

"Hey, Zoey." I said.

"Hey." she said as she yawned.

Then, the bus stopped again. Ruby and Ty got on the bus. Ty was wearing his black Yeezys, a black pair of pants, and a hoodie that said 'Cali' written in a cursive font. Ruby was wearing grey leggings, a pink coat, and pink converses. Her converses are like mine, except mine are black and hers are pink. She took my red trench coat and examined it.

"Where did you buy this?"

"I didn't buy it." I said as I took my trench coat back. "My uncle bought it for me."

"Did you oversleep again?" she said as she grabbed my face as if she would kiss me.

"Maybe." I said as she let go of my face. "But it's not my fault. Mrs. Cavilera gave me so much homework I barely had enough time to sleep."

"Same." Ty said as he took off his hood.

Then, Ruby frogged both of us.

"Damn, Ruby!" Ty said, holding his arm.

"For fuck's sake!" I exclaimed. "How do you reach across the aisle?"

There was only one more stop directly before we got to the school. Chloe and Carter got on the bus. Carter was wearing a black coat and plain jeans. I thought he looked cute as he walked to the back of the bus. His sister, Chloe, was wearing a blue dress and sky blue leggings. When we got to school, we all went to our pods and did what we always did. We danced, joked, laughed and waited.
