The red fort

In the border between The Kingdom of Omi and the land of the dragon born Inaria, stood the red fort. The fort was built in the wilderness that acted as a border between the two kingdoms. Unlike the three other Kingdoms of Eru, Omi and Wize, Inaria was a kingdom with people Known as the dragon borns, half human half dragon. They were the known descendants of the great dragon that lived deep in the planets volcanic core, which entrance was located in Inarian capital. Twenty years ago, a war erupted between the four great Nations, that was later dubbed the great Calamity . The war which lasted for three years shook all the four great Nations to their core. The war which was due to the high level of enslavement of Dragon born, mostly by the kingdom of wize, and the great ambush that lead to the death of general Karen Litinhn of the Omi royal family, when on a mission in Eru, at the hands of Eru's rogue family, the Wildes. This events lead to a War that ended with all four Nations eventually facing each other in a bitter conflict. The war lasted for three years and Only stopped after the Battle of Drazdan which also saw the rise of the four god swords, but that will be a story for another day. After the war, Inaria closed it's borders, not allowing anyone in or out. The Kingdom of Omi feared the dreaded dragon born would return, they had always had the thought they were trying to build their army. In other to prevent a surprise attack that will definitely sweep them away if they were caught unaware, they built a fort in the wilderness of Pyra. The fort which was now called the Red fort due to the red like sand in the wilderness that always covered the outer walls from the various storms, was home to over one hundred military personnel, all responsible for watching the borders, although things were not that active due to Inaria shutting all points of entry, it was not totally impossible to seek into the land of the dragonborn. Once in a while, the patrol unit will catch criminals and even some smugglers, trying to smuggle something in or out. People don't just learn their lessons easily. Especially when the lesson was from two decades ago.

In the fort a woman was walking in the hall way with a young man by his side, the woman had the Blue shirt on and ash skirt with a ash jacket. Her hair was blonde and her glasses somehow made her beautiful face more enchanting. The woman although was in her late thirties, she was still the undisputed, beauty champion in the fort. No contest as far as the male officers were concerned.

"When are the next, unit taking the place of Mori's Unit arriving?" the Lady asked the man beside him.

"Today commander." The man beside her replied

"Today? She asked Why didn't you tell me?"

"I told you yesterday Commander."

"Did you?" She asked.

"Yes I did," The officer replied.

"Sigh, My mind must have been somewhere else. It has been a while since we've had something of this nature happen over here. People used to be afraid to come close to this place but now, we have more reports of different activities more than ever. It was as if the war never happened." The commander complained

"Did you also participate in the war commander Lara?". The officer asked

"Yes, I was just fifteen when the war started", she narrated.

"Back then the minimum age for joining the military was Eighteen but six months into the war it dropped to fifteen and fourteen became the legal adult age. I joined immediately and acted as a runner in the war".

The Officer widen his eyes in shock. That she actually participated in the war, at such a young age at that, was a shock.

"Runner?" The officer asked in confusion

"What's a runner?" he asked

"Well that will be a strory for another time, Commander Lara replied with a smile, where are they going to arrive?" She asked as the officers was about to reply a new young officers Joined them. She immediately saluted before speaking.

"Commander Lara, the new unit have arrived, they are in the yard." A young lady stated

"Oh that's great, get them to settle in room six for the gents and twelve for the ladies, and tell their Captain to see me immediately he's done settling down, understood?"

"Yes commander" the lady replied and went on to deliver the order.

"Let's go Officers Roni, we've got alot of work to do" Commander Lara said and started walking away.

In the yard Eighteen officers were seen coming down from their mounts after they had arrived at the Red fort. They had travelled from the Capital which made their arrival such a big deal since only the elite were usually based there. As each member came down from their mounts those in the yard watched them, some with curious gazes and others with a mix of emotion that raged from, what makes them special, to, those from the capital always feel like they are something.

One of the officers that had just arrived stood right in front of those staring at them, and as if he noticed what was on their mind he took a deep breath like he was smelling the air.

"Nothing smell as bad as a Jealous loser." He stated.

His word caused a lot anger amongst those who heard.

'What is he trying to say ' they thought

"Who are you calling a Jealous loser" a voice called out and a huge man stood in front of the officer that spoke.

"Did I mention your name somehow?" he asked

"Wait, which was it, was it Smell, Or Bad, Maybe it's Jealous, but I think everyone here probably thinks it's Loser" The officer stated.

"You..." The huge officer was about to grab on to his shirt when a voice stopped them.

"What are you doing Dave?' A woman suddenly asked.

"First lieutenant Duis the man stated, I was just about to teach this man a brief lesson for insulting me" The man said.

"You will do no such thing Dave" Lieutenant Duis replied "unhand him, now?"

"Why should I?" Dave asked

"Do you really want to do this now Dave?"

"You should really Listen to the lady" the Person Dave was grabbing said.

"You can still talk uhn."

"That's enough Dave Jane said. If you don't unhand him right now I'll make sure to report you for indecent behavior and with your record I'm sure you are not going to get a slap on the wrist this time". "Now, for the last time let him go" Jane said.

Dave freed the man and started walking away.

"Thanks for that the young man said after he was freed, but you didn't need to help".

"Don't thank me, although Dave is annoying, he still doesn't do things for no reason, if I get you being disrespectful to any of the officers here again you'll have to answer to me" she said.

"You're fierce, I like that, but that won't always, help you in the future." The officer said with a smile.

"Where's your Captain lieutenant?" Jane asked ignoring his last comment. She looked at the other members and notice their Captain was not there since none of them wore the captain uniform and she also wondered why none of the tried to stop the fight that was brewing earlier.

"He's on his way" The officer replied.

"I'm first Lieutenant Michael Tulley by the way" he said stretching his hand. "But you can call me Mickey."

"I'm first Lieutenant Dius Jane, she replied taking his hand. And you can call me Lieutenant Dius" she added

"For now..." Mickey said making Jane frown.

"For always" she replied.

"It's definitely for now" Mickey Said again

"Can I ask you a question" Mickey asked Jane

"You can go ahead" she said but in her mind she was praying for it to be a question that won't tempt her to strangle him.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Mickey asked

His question made everyone who heard turn to look at him in shock and surprise. Even his teammates who had ignored almost everything that had happened earlier looked at the first lieutenant like he has gotten crazier than usual.

Jane on the other hand stared at the young man and she could not help be shocked.

"N- no" she replied as she stammered.

"Hmm Mickey said, I understand why, no one wants to be with an ugly duckling". Mickey replied

Everyone stared in shock, and his teammates were the only ones to sigh in relief, "he's back to his normal crazy." They thought.
