Cheng Xin saw that the clothing worn by the residents of the Solar System State wasn't the shiny style, but rather the kind that was very simple and comfortable.
Some of them were even wearing straw hats, but they looked elegant and not like farmers at all, and somewhat resembled the agriculture university professors Cheng Xin had seen before.
Ai AA muttered, "The media says that North Mo Farm uses migrants for labor, that there are incidents of people locked in small, dark rooms, and of human rights violations."
"Now it seems, they just bully citizens that don't travel abroad much, spreading smear campaigns everywhere!"
The more Ai AA talked, the angrier she got, "Why do Jiang Yu and Rediaz, both such strong figures, not argue back?
"If they opened up these farms for everyone to see, there would be no such misunderstandings!"
Cheng Xin, returning from the beautiful view outside, said, "Perhaps they just can't be bothered to explain. In the early years of the Crisis Era, Sophon was the same, disregarding human calls because of disdain for humanity."
Ai AA cupped her chin, "I just can't figure out what these people are thinking."
"The men of our time were not just ornamental," Cheng Xin said, "especially when it came to intelligence and strategy, inspiring both admiration and fear."
Ai AA, however, said, "I prefer the ornamental kind. How goes that old saying?
"Ah, lest they sell me and I help them count the money."
Cheng Xin chuckled and continued to greedily look out the window; every Common Era person has a dream of an idyllic paradise, a dream of being close to nature.
She was no exception.
Especially after seeing those ripe, huge apricots on the trees, Cheng Xin could not help but swallow her saliva.
In the past, she wasn't particularly fond of apricots, but only after seeing these apricots did she realize that since waking up, she had never once eaten any fruit. Fruit juice was readily available, but the most she could get were fruit particles.
Eating fruit particles and the sensation of eating real fruit were distinctly different.
Thus Cheng Xin found herself craving apricots, which she hadn't been very fond of before.
It was right in the season when apricots ripened, each one orange-yellow, hanging on the trees, looking more tempting the more she looked.
Ai AA saw what Cheng Xin was thinking. Since she hadn't tasted freshly picked apricots either, she stopped the car and asked a kindly-looking old grandfather if they could pick a few apricots to eat.
The old man generously agreed and picked a large handful for both Ai AA and Cheng Xin.
Even Ai AA felt a bit guilty, "Grandpa, it's too much; let us pay you some money."
The old grandfather waved his hand, "No need, no need, it's just a few apricots."
Then he asked, "Were you invited to see Sophon break the wall?"
Cheng Xin nodded, "Yes, aren't you going?"
"You should hurry then, it seems to be starting soon." The old man smiled, "What's there to see? Isn't it always the Wallfacers winning by a large margin?
"The Trisolarans aren't too bright, breaking the wall over and over without end."
After saying this, the old man waved at the two young women and continued to inspect his apricot orchard.
The old man's words didn't affect Ai AA's mood at all; the two quickly washed the apricots in a nearby clear stream and hurried on with their journey.
Back in the car, Ai AA laughed, "What a steal; you might not know, this kind of fruit that grows normally according to the season is a high-end food! Only the wealthy can afford it."
Cheng Xin tasted an apricot, sweeter than she remembered, with thinner skin, and more delicious than the apricots in her memory.
After a twenty-minute drive or so, the two saw a very large grassy area between two farms.
```
This meadow is very beautiful, with tall woods in the distance and a small blue lake.
There are various little flowers in the meadow, swaying to and fro as the breeze blows, as if waving hello to Cheng Xin and her group.
There is a cobblestone path laid out in the meadow, with lots of grasses growing between the stones, making them seem at one with the beautiful meadow.
The path winds all the way to a low hill by the lake, where there are two pavilions connected by a covered walkway.
Cheng Xin and Ai AA fell in love with this place the moment they laid eyes on it.
Compared to these scenic views, the urban forest of New Beijing City seemed too crowded and lacking in beauty.
The two walked along the path to one of the pavilions, where about a dozen people were already inside, either sitting or standing.
A few individuals, though simply dressed, wore materials that could emit a shimmer—these were the hurried officials from PDC and the Star Defense Department.
They paced back and forth, appearing somewhat anxious.
Several other people, clearly distinguishable as men and women, were officials from Desert North Farm; they seemed more composed and were brewing tea for everyone.
After the arrival of Cheng Xin and Ai AA, they all nodded in greeting to Cheng Xin.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yu was in the other pavilion, sitting there, cradling a three- or four-year-old girl, teaching her how to make a flower crown.
Ai AA had seen introductions on the net— the little girl was Jiang Que, Jiang Yu's daughter, known as the Solar System's little princess.
Next to the father and daughter, there was a big-headed robot.
The robot looked quite dorky, with all its features displayed on a single screen panel.
Such design was common in robots a long time ago, but modern robots all have three-dimensional features.
However, the expressions conveyed by lines and symbols on this robot's panel were very vivid, and it gave off a very cute vibe.
Especially its large head and stubby limbs, which looked a bit foolish and clumsy.
But Ai AA explained, "It is said that this is a robot specially designed by Jiang Shiliu for his sister, with the most advanced computing power in the Solar System. Though it seems silly and cute, it's said to be unbeatable in a fight, even against a J75!
"Oh, a J75 is an older model of combat equipment in the Solar System State."
Then, Sophon's airship came roaring in and stopped in front of the pavilion; Sophon alighted from the airship, "Sorry to have kept you waiting."
Jiang Yu gestured for them to take a seat, and while teasing his daughter, he leisurely finished making the flower crown for her and placed it on her head. Only then did he let the robot take his daughter away.
The little girl was very cute, and as she started down the corridor, Ai AA crouched down with a big smile, "How about a hug from your sister?"
Jiang Que promptly refused, "No!"
Ai AA stuck out her tongue, "Just as standoffish as a Wallfacer."
Several officials from Desert North Farm glared at Ai AA, but she ignored them.
Jiang Que looked at the adults around her and finally fixed her gaze on Cheng Xin, "You have a classical sense of beauty that's different from modern beauty!"
Ai AA laughed, "What a big talker for such a little one, and quite the compliment."
Jiang Que played with her flower crown, "My dad always praises my mom like that."
Ai AA, with a sudden burst of curiosity, "What about your mom? Did she come too?"
The young girl shook her head, "My mom is even busier than my dad. Besides, my dad says he doesn't feel safe leaving me with her; he was afraid I would starve in Jupiter City, so he brought me to Earth."
