Third is my second attempt at creating a novel with game elements so I suggest not expecting too much from the book but I also don't want anyone to underestimate it. Give it a chance and if you like it consider adding Third to your library, if you enjoyed it, however, you could vote using your power stones so the novel would be able to reach other readers.

Dire Situation

In a dimly lit room, one could see a shadow of what seems to be a person as it floats eerily. Zooming in one would notice the person's unkempt appearance and the horrifying secret behind his levitation.

His neck was wrapped in a rope that is connected to the ceiling. Under his feet that are dangling in the air was a stool that has been overturned. Without prior warning, a beam of light dashed through the open window and entered the person. Instantly the man's body stirred as he violently tugged at his bindings just like in horror movies. With a 'squeak' the rope breaks causing the man to fall to the ground.

"Lui Jundao, former professional gamer, orphan..." The man murmured as the hair covering half his face failed to conceal the light coming from his eyes. The original owner of this body is the name that Lui Jian just mentioned and the subsequent words were his details. Right now he occupied Lui Jundao's body as the latter died from asphyxiation or loss of air.

Lui Jian's ears suddenly twitched as he took a position behind the door. Not soon after he did so footsteps could be heard going in his direction. From the sound, Lui Jian could tell that there were two people and that both of them were ordinary people without cultivation. If this was before, Lui Jian could have killed this duo with a glance but the price of his reincarnation was the loss of his cultivation base.

"Plus, my body aches all over, clearly whoever killed Lui Jundao made him suffer first" Smiling bitterly Lui Jian decided to focus on finding a solution to his predicament. Suddenly in his mind, he remembered a cultivation technique that could raise his strength to the first layer of the Houtian realm temporarily. However, such an overbearing technique usually took a heavy toll on the caster's body and may even cause damage to his foundation but given the situation, Lui Jian still chose to take the risk.

Arriving at the door, Lui Jian heard the duo talking about something as a set of footsteps gradually disappeared into the hallway. The other guy opened the door partially as he turned around to reach for two containers of gasoline but as he was about to do so a gust of wind came from behind him before he slumped to the ground.

"This body is so weak..." Lui Jian groaned as he dragged the unconscious man into a corner of the room. He did a quick search and found a wallet and keys from this person who was dressed in a black suit. When he was done Lui Jian assumed his previous position behind the door as he waited for the man's accomplice.

However, things didn't go as Lui Jian expected. The man's partner happened to pass by his apartment window as he was going back and saw that his body is no longer there on the ceiling. The man knew then that something was amiss so he carefully approached the door to Lui Jian's apartment while simultaneously fishing out a pocket knife from his flap pocket.

He prepared for the worse as he took a deep breath before slowly opening the door with his other hand. Unfortunately, he didn't expect that the attack would come not in front but below him.

- Kacha! -

With a single kick, Lui Jian managed to break the bones of the person's lower limb. This caused the man to lose balance and Lui Jian took advantage of this opportunity to rain blows on the man. Though the man tried his best to fight back, Lui Jian's movements were just like those of real ghosts as he moved around him coupled with his injured leg that caused him to lose his mobility the man soon lay on the floor black and blue.

Grabbing the man by the collar Lui Jian asked about the mastermind behind Lui Jundao's demise. Unfortunately, even if the man wanted to tell him, he can't since he doesn't know the identity of the people who wanted Lui Jundao dead either. However, Lui Jian already had a rough idea of who it could be.

"It should be that politician's son. Isn't this situation like those in drama novels?" Lui Jian joked but his expression was grim.

From Lui Jundaos's memory, he gleaned that the reason for this professional player to now be a former professional player was because he offended that politician's son. Even though Lui Jundao had the bad trait of being arrogant inwardly he is just like any common person that would stand up when he came across people in need.

In one of the tournaments, his former team attended Lui Jundao experienced just that. He saw the politician's son harassing an unknown woman so he stood up to him which caused the privileged kids displeasure. From then on, Lui Jian's life these past few months had been hell, he got kicked out of the professional scene, and bad rumors about him started circulating that caused him a hard time finding a job.

"How ruthless! That kid doesn't even want to let Lui Jundao go and send people to dispose of him. If that's the case they deserve what's going to come their way." Lui Jian smirked as he looked at the suited man beside him. He reached out his hands to the man's face which confused the latter. He looked at 'Lui Jundao' only to see his smile turn to an evil smirk as the hands atop his head glowed with an eerie red light.

In no time the man turned into a shriveled corpse as Lui Jian's pale face showed obvious signs of improvement. The technique Lui Jian used was something that he got from a demon cultivator back in another world. It can devour anything and plunder anything and its only weakness is that it can only be used against ordinary people and cultivators. Originally, Lui Jian doesn't want to use this technique for fear that the power would corrupt him and turn him into a mindless killing machine however the cruelty of that politician's son made him change his mind.

"With this, my cultivation would be faster and I could also use the soul power that I plundered to repair my soul which would allow me to see more of Lui Jundao's memories." Lui Jian also performed the technique on the other man that he knocked out and disposed of their corpse. Afterward, he used the remaining time of the night to absorb the essence he plundered from the duo. Lui Jian didn't sleep as he learned from Lui Jundao's memory that he was to attend a job interview in the morning.
