Sam interrupted, "Are you saying the beast always howl at night? What about when it attacks? Did it howl too?"

"Of course it did!" One lady with the flush yellow robe answered. "Whenever it did, we already know there are people who climbed up in the mountain to kill it!" 

Sam clarified, "So you're saying… when people attack, the beast will roar and bite off their necks and stomach? And it never once goes silent when it retaliates intruders?"

All five ladies shake their heads. Sam pinch his nose. "Then that's even more strange."

"What's strange?"

"What about the children? When did the first child disappear?" Sam shifted the topic. The five ladies stared at the ground, pondering on his question.
