Unlike Shu, Kaito wasted no time in ending the fight quickly. He snapped his finger as waters ascended from the small creaks on the ground with force. The waters were then floating behind him while his eyes were glowing blue. He then clenched his hands as the water, forming spears that were spinning rapidly and aggressively. He moved his arms forward as the water spears flew towards his opponent.
‘He has no chill!’ Halvor screamed in his thoughts.
Halvor cast a spell that enables him to teleport in short distance. He dodged all of the spear attacks successfully, but one. A water spear pierced through his knee, as he endured the pain to prevent himself from shouting. He erased the spear and covered the wound with some kind of black fire to prevent his leg from being infected.
“Damn it...” He groaned in excruciating pain.
Ordinary human weapons may not be able to harm the godlings, but gifts from other godlings could. Only a godling can kill or injure another godling despite their gifts being from different pantheons.
“I warned you. Entertain me more.” Kaito crossed his arms while waves of water were forming a basilisk-like creature behind him. He closed his eyes, as the waves of basilisk-like waters made their way towards Halvor.
“Give… me… a… break… please…” Halvor begged quietly before forcing himself to stand up and endure the pain in order to do something about the terrifying attack.
He attempted to form a barrier, similar to Guanyu’s gift, but it was broken immediately and swallowed by the attack. He teleported back on the ground, coughing all the water that he swallowed through his mouth and nose. He was immediately sent flying into the air by a giant water fist, giving him no time to recharge and come up with a plan. He was then stabbed by multiple miniature water spikes in midair before falling on the ground roughly. He was bleeding tremendously.
“What a disappointment.” Kaito commented before summoning another wave of basilisk-like water behind him.
“Give me a break!” Halvor yelled while tears were flowing from his eyes, as he released a beam of magical energy at Kaito.
Kaito dodged the attack to the side swiftly, unexpected by the attack. It surprised him because it was new, but it was nothing compared to the solar beam by Atsuko. He swung his arm as water lasso visibly appeared and grabbed his opponent by the neck. He pulled Halvor towards him before delivering a kick, summoning a watery boot, sending him flying into a wall.
Kaito scoffed, “Disappointing as always, Odin. You don’t deserve that codename.”
As Halvor was about to unleash another magical energy beam, Kaito knocked him unconscious with a water fist. He won the match, but wasn’t satisfied with it due to the difference between the power level of him and the weakling. He wasn’t breaking any sweat nor taking the spar seriously. It was inevitably boring for him, compared to his fight with Shu last month.
‘Seriously, boy. Is this how mortals are nowadays?’ An unknown voice echoed through Halvor’s mind again.
Halvor heard the voice, but he was too weak to wake up from his unconsciousness due to the devastating blows he suffered from Kaito. His mageíakinesis was too weak. He stood no chance against the third strongest godling.
William sighed, “Yet another disappointing fight! Has none of you, weaklings, ever improved on your gifts!? Pathetic! You want the higher-tier godlings’ respect, then become better! Don’t be such a weakling!”
Corey rolled his eyes, “What a helpful pep talk.”
“Shhh.” Ezekiel silenced his friend as he didn't want to be in trouble, especially when Aster was in the same room as them right now.
Aster chuckled, “Did those two matches scare you, Habagat, Loki? You should be. You are witnessing the true power of the superior godlings.”
“It’ll be nice if you just shut up for once, copycat.” Corey insulted Aster just to get him shut up.
Aster growled, “You can talk crap all you want, Loki. But your cockiness and arrogance will wipe out from your face when Lamashtu faces you.”
“Scr-“
Ezekiel's shoulder bumped him, “Corey, quiet down. Save your anger for later.”
“Tsk. Whatever.” Corey clenched his hands, not of anger but fear for his match. He wasn’t to be a fighter. His gift is meant for physical combat, but rather deception and cunningness. He doesn’t understand why the Fatherland couldn’t see his capabilities in other fields than physical combat. They underestimated his capabilities in infiltrating enemy lines or whatever that doesn't directly involve fighting.
“Contemplating about your existence? How sad of you.” Maskim insulted Corey.
Corey was about to yell at her until a shockwave from the two punches of Torvald and Alcaeus snapped him out of his anger. He hadn’t realized that the match had already started.
Alcaeus and Tor were trading devastating punches against each other. The difference is that Torvald kept on flinching and wincing from the punch while Alcaeus remained unfazed. Unlike Torvald, Alcaeus has also trained muscle durability in order to resist devastating attacks such as this. He has also trained to slightly ignore the pain. He has a massive advantage over Torvald in both strength and durability.
“I can tell by punches that your strength has improved a bit, Thor.” Alcaeus spun his arm before delivering a punch at Torvald, sending him flying into a wall. “But it isn’t enough! You need to try harder!”
Torvald coughed before standing up and relocating his broken jaw, “I-I’m trying!”
His entire body was covered in blue lightning for a second due to the anger and stress he was feeling, but he cannot manipulate it like Aster for some unknown reason. He then ran towards his opponent and leaped into the air to deliver a double ax handle move, but Alcaeus dodged the attack and delivered a headbutt which caused another shockwave.
“Come on, Thor.” Alcaeus is eager for Torvald to defeat him in order to see the weaklings in a good light, but it wasn’t working due to his opponent’s lack of strength and power. He felt mad that the Fatherland didn’t bother to train him because his gift was a C-tier.
Torvald picked up a 180 pound dumbbell and threw it to Alcaeus. Alcaeus simply caught the dumbbell, but he didn’t expect the next move. Torvald punched him in the stomach which slightly sent him flying a few feet away, making him kneel in one knee as well. Alcaeus was impressed because he didn't notice the attack coming after being distracted by the dumbbell. It was honestly clever.
The audience were surprised by the unexpected strength Torvald displayed, especially the higher-tier godlings. Alam was even impressed, wondering if it was a wise decision to not let his men train Torvald. He’ll have to put this in mind when discussing the godlings in the meeting later.
Alcaeus wipes the blood off his mouth before smiling, “That was impressive, Torvald. You distracted me. That was probably the strongest thing I have ever felt.”
“Th-“
“However, you’re still lacking.” Alcaeus lifted the dumbbell in the air with his foot before delivering a roundhouse kick at it.
The dumbbell flew at incredible speed and made a painful contact with Torvald who didn’t see the attack nor didn’t have time to dodge it. The speed of the dumbbell flying towards him was like a blur to him. It was impossible to dodge it. He was having a hard time breathing, but he nonetheless got back up. Once he did, Alcaeus was in front of him already.
“Train harder next time, Thor.”
Alcaeus incapacitated Torvald by hitting both sides of his neck with a hand chop. Torvald fell on the ground which caused his body to be covered with lightning again for a second. Alcaeus walked out of the arena, disappointed that Torvald hadn't improved on his strength, but at the same time, he was satisfied that Torvald could put up a fight now unlike before.
‘If you had the power of thunder within you, you wouldn’t have lost to that bastarðr!’ An unknown voice spoke in Torvald’s head.
Torvald wondered who spoke to him before fainting.
“Mhm… unlike the two matches, it was pretty entertaining despite being shorter than the other two!” William shouted. “I hope the next match won’t be disappointing as well!”
“Yet another weakling down. How unfortunate.” Sethos said.
‘I’m definitely going to die.’ Ezekiel then stared at Aster whose eyes were glowing yellow while electricity was sparkling around it for a second.
