Let's Break Into School
After she had cleared out a few more hallways and classrooms, the once cleared hallways quickly filled up with new, stronger zombies. The tight space and sheer number of zombies meant that the mystery girl couldn't kill the zombies like she had before, bit after bit she was pushed back until she stepped back into the door to the rooftop. She quickly opened it and ran outside before shutting it and looking round her to see if there is anything to jam the door with, thankfully she managed to find a random pipe to jam into the door keeping it shut.
She spent a few minutes catching her breath and thinking about what had just happened and her new predicament about food, water and shelter. Surprisingly enough a rooftop doesnt offer much of these, spent and looked at what was happening below her but it was even worse, the zombies had surrounded the school trapping her in even if she did escape from the roof. Dejected she slumped down against the wall and tried to get some sleep, but the constant crashing of arms against metal kept her awake, she spent the night freezing and wide awake, each time the zombies hit the door she flinched away because each hit could be the one witch breaks the door. It was a long night and by the time the sun came up she was more dead than alive, by this point the zombies had given up trying to break down the door had hadn't left it was like they were just waiting for her to try and escape...
Around mid day she could hear a quad approaching fast, this was the first humans she had seen since the beginning of the apocalypse, so she wasn't about to let this chance go to waste. As the quad got closer she could see it better, it was red and had 2 people and possibly and animal on it, but they were heading straight past her. She quickly stood up and started to shout and wave her arms like a mad woman, thankfully after a few seconds the quad started to slow down before coming to a stop. She could see them talking for a few moments and point at her a couple of times before the one who wasn't driving threw his arms in the air and then shrugged his shoulders, before the quad started up again and drove off. She started to cry seeing this as they were her only hope of getting off the roof alive and they just left her there like that. After crying for a few minutes she got up and went over to the door, putting her ear against it and listened, she heard nothing. She paced around for a bit before going back to the door and slowly opening it and looking in...
At first she saw nothing and heard nothing but after a few seconds her eyes got used to the darker stairway and she saw something that nearly made her pass out, lots of glowing eyes. See what most people didn't know yet was that like cats and some other animals they have something called Tapetum Lucidum which is found behind the retina and helps them to see in the dark but also reflects light.
She quickly shut the door and jammed the door with the pipe again, she saw at least 9 or 10 pairs of eyes on the stairs never mind how many were nearby so escaping on her own wasn't an option. Her only chance was if someone else came and helped her.
As William and Jack headed back to Annabel's house Jack kept telling William how he wasnt happy about leaving that girl stranded on top of the school but each time he said this William reminded him that they haven't had a good sleep since before this started and they need rest, sleep and better supplies before they even think about going into the school. Not long after that they reach Annabel's house and head inside, as soon as William walks into the kitchen a hand comes out of nowhere and slaps him across his face which quickly turns red.
"I can't believe that you left me for so long!I had to kill a zombie that broke in because you wouldn't answer your phone as usual!" Annabel shouts at him not even noticing Jack.
William doesn't say anything and just points to the counter where his phone is sitting, connected to a charger.
"I'm sorry but you were the one to say I should charge my phone while I was gone, and it was just one zombie it shouldn't have been that hard to kill, I already killed any strong ones nearby that I found. Also could you keep it down please, we barely got any sleep last night." He then goes into the fridge, grabs 2 beers and throws 1 at Jack who thankfully doesnt drop it.
"Well you didnt do a very good job at clearing them then, I had to burn it to death because even driving over it didnt kill it!" She shouts back still not noticing Jack who is just standing there trying not to laugh while drinking the beer.
"Ok maybe I missed one but at least you managed to kill it yourself instead of running to me like you tried to do, I wont be around all the time to help you so you need to learn how to survive before something happens to one of us. Now if you will excuse me and Jack here, we are going to go sleep for a few hours if we aren't up before 5pm can you wake us? We have something we need to do but because of 'less than ideal circumstances' we havent had any rest in a while."
Only now does Annabel notice Jack, after she realizes that he was there the whole time she doesnt say anything more about the zombie and goes into another room to do something. William finishes his beer and heads to the spare bedroom and gets Jack ready to get some sleep before heading to Annabel's room and going to sleep...
He wakes up just before 4:30 so using this extra time he quickly showers and puts on new clothes before waking Jack up and they both head down to the kitchen. Annabel had prepared a fry for them which didn't last 2 minutes and they got ready to head out again, this time William took the gun, axe and sledgehammer and gave Jack another axe, so he had an axe and the gun he got from the guards when Daniel hired all of them. Jack's eyes widened when he saw the gun but William just brushed him off and told Annabel that they might not be back until tomorrow again and to look after herself. She was about to argue with him again but before she could get a word out he started talking to Jack.
"I just hope we haven't left her too late, she wasn't looking too good last time and we need to make a pit stop to refuel before we go into the city again."
"She looked ok and hopefully she blocked the door, if she did that theres a good chance shes still alive."
When Annabel heard that they were talking about a girl her expression darkened before silently walking behind William, she quickly grabbed his ear and started pulling it.
"Why didnt you tell me you were going to try rescue a girl! Get your sorry ass out there before I throw you out and hurry up, you've wasted enough time talking already!"
William looks at Jack for a few seconds before walking outside, Jack follows him out and they head to the quad again in silence. They get on and drive out onto the road, but instead of going towards the town William takes them back to his house to go get fuel for the quad and some other things they might need. He comes back a few minutes later carrying the fuel, some rope, a box of nails and a hammer. He sets everything in the basket as they decided to have Ban stay with Annabel just incase anything happens to her, they set off again this time heading back into town it was around 5:30 when they made it back to the school. William parked the quad nearby and they both got off and went to where they stopped last time, however this time the girl never appeared on the roof, even after a few minutes they saw no sign of her. This disturbed them as going into the school would basically be suicide, even for William never mind a highschool girl who looked worse for wear the last time they saw her.
"This might be a problem, also how are we going to get up there the school is going to be flooded with zombies and I dont think even you would survive. We need another way to get onto the roof but we cant even go from another nearby building as they are all too small."
"What if WE dont need to get onto the roof, what if we just need something to get up there. What did we learn about animals and zombies in the shopping centre?"
"Look William if you are suggesting what I think you are then no. Just No. We are not sending Ban up there, so you know how many things could go wrong! There has to be an easier and safer way to find her, we don't even know if shes on the roof."
William then has an idea, he grabs the gun and looks at the roof, after looking for a few seconds he turns to Jack.
"Theres one question solved, she is still on the roof it's been jammed by a pipe, on this side. We know that the door is the only way onto the roof, during our time at school I tried many times to sneak up there but never found another way, but looks like I'm going to have to...hey Jack remember our Geography trip to the Cliffs of Moher? When he got to try rock climbing and you almost fell? I have a plan that will probably kill us but hey, that's nothing new is it."
"No. We are not going to climb up the side of the school, are you stupid! There are soo many things that could go wrong that going through the school might even be a better idea. I nearly fell multiple times and the only reason I didnt is because of the equipment, which we do not have. You were even worse than me, you Did fall even with the equipment, and you took 2 others down with you so no we are not climbing the school."
"...ok I get your point new plan, skip the ground floor entirely and break into one of the classrooms on the 1st floor, we can do so by using the nails to make foot holds so that we can stand long enough to break the glass, once inside we use the rope and nails to make a barbed whip, I get a table and push it along the corridors like a shield and you whip the zombies hopefully killing them, is that ok your majesty? Or should we just leave."
"Alright already, this plan seems better dont kill me for not trusting you. But how will we know what room to break into first, we could get inside and find a dozen or more zombies."
"We jump."
