Chapter 41: Shotgun Wedding

Rose let out a brief of relief when the social worker left. As far as she could tell, the woman had found nothing odd about their arrangement, but things were heating up. She would need to take action and she wondered if what she was thinking was a good idea.

“I’m going to work,” Cade said.

“Can we talk after I get Keegan to school?” she asked.

He’d agreed and now she was waiting on him returning home. The house was empty, and she jumped at the littlest noise. She loved this place and when it was time to leave, she’d miss it. She’d made her house into a home for her and Keegan, but something was compelling about living in the woods.
