Chapter 35: More Problems

Cade had been in his office taking care of pack business when the call from Rose came in. She’d told him about a job interview with a tech company that had a matchmaking app. The job was to advise on matchmaking algorithms. It was something she could do, and Cade had been optimistic she would get the job.

It was a little further from her house, but he said he’d do what he could to support her. He’d meant it. She was his mate and he would do what he could to protect her. They were partners even if she didn’t know it. It was the least he could do since he couldn’t marry her for real. The instinct to protect her was still strong even if they’d never mated.

He picked up his phone and if the call had come from anyone else, he wouldn’t have answered it. “Rose?”

“Keegan is sick.”

“Is everything okay?” Cade asked getting to his feet.

The concern in Rose’s voice had mobilized him.

“I can’t take him to daycare and I have that interview in an hour, Cade.”
