The Royal Bracelet

“Father! How could you?” Tracy yelled as she flew into the castle angrily.

“Courtesy! Young lady!” King sabastine warned with a calm but serious tone.

“Greetings !” She said, realizing for the first time that her father was having a meeting with the members of his cabinet.

“Men of this great kingdom, we are done with today's meeting. We will address any unresolved issue next time. “Thank you!” The King concluded the meeting. The men flew away one after the other, leaving only the King and his daughter.

“What is it that couldn't wait until after the meeting, Tracy?” The King asked as he flew to her.

“Dad! How could you give what belongs to me to my kid sister?” She blurted out angrily.

“I don't understand you, child!”

“The royal bracelet, Dad!” She yelled. Why was he pretending not to know what she was talking about?

“Oh! That!”

“The last time I checked, your mother gave you that bracelet before she passed on, but you rejected it because you thought of it to be so old-fashioned and outdated.”

“But Dad, I was just a kid then. I didn't know what I was doing,” Tracy defended.

“Yes, true. But you see child, the royal bracelet has a rule attached to it: once rejected by any person, it must never be worn or given to that person and that rule must not be broken.”

“That's not fair, Dad!” Tracy yelled.

“I am your first child and that is my birthright. Why give it to someone else Father?”

“I am sorry Tracy, but it's already a done deal, and I can't change it or take it away from her.”

“Sister!” A feminine voice called out happily. The fairy flew towards Tracy and hugged her tightly, but Tracy did not reciprocate.

“Where have you been for the past two days? I missed you! Why weren't you at my birthday party? Did something happen? I was worried sick when I looked everywhere for you but couldn't find you.”

“Are you…?”

“Oh, please shut up!” Tracy snapped at her, and she gasped in fear.

“Don't you ever ask me those kinds of questions again. I am not accountable to you little thief!” Tracy spat out disdainfully.

“That's enough!” King Sebastine commanded with his scepter raised.

“We are sorry, father!”

“That's okay, tomorrow is the day when all fairies in this kingdom shall gather to see you display your the mastery of your magic and I expect you both to be practicing and not fighting.”

“Both of you are dismissed. I have a large event to prepare for tomorrow.”

Tracy sneaked out of the castle that night when she saw how engrossed her Father was with planning the event.

She needed to take back what rightfully was hers certainly and damn the consequences.

She never knew how special the royal bracelet was until she heard some maids gossiping about the magical it was.

She eventually headed to the sacred book library of the kingdom, where all magical books were kept.

When she got there, she gently opened the door to avoid waking the already sleeping bookkeeper. When she got in, she began to search for the book that spoke about the royal bracelet, and eventually, she found it: The Secret Of The Royal Bracelet: An Ancient Guard.

“Finally!” She muttered inaudibly. She opened the book but saw that all the pages of the book were blank when she opened it.

“What!” She gasped loudly and woke the sleeping bookkeeper.

“Who's there?” The bookkeeper asked sharply. Tracy got frightened and dropped the book, making a thud.

The bookkeeper flew towards the sound, while Tracy immediately flew out of the library before he could catch up with her.

He searched thoroughly to see if there was anyone, and didn't find anyone.

Then, his attention was caught by a book on the floor. He flew to it, picked it up and was surprised to see which book it was.

He laughed lightly as he imagined the look on the person's face who sought it, when he/she saw the book was blank. The book had a secret spell that made every word written in it visible, and only the King and the bearer of the bracelet knew it. It was an uncommon spell that couldn't be learned or taught. The people who knew it just knew it and couldn't explain how; they just knew it by heart.

Ariella waited up for her sister to return before she went to sleep, but after long hours of waiting and no signs of her sister, she dozed off. While she slept, she had an unusual dream.

***The Dream***

“Ariella, get ready! It will happen soon! Get ready, chosen one! Get ready, strengthen yourself for the battle ahead is mighty.” An old woman, whose face and entire body were white, cried out to her. Ariella stared at the old woman, confused, and couldn't mutter a word.

***Back to reality***

Ariella woke up and gasped out in fright. What sort of scary dream was that? Who was that old woman, and what battle was she talking about? She wanted a peaceful life and a kingdom, not a battle. She had no heart to hurt someone with her magical powers.

“May the Great protector forbid chaos." She prayed earnestly.

She tried everything she could to go back to sleep but couldn't. The old woman's words kept ringing in her head. She suddenly remembered her mother and wished she were around to comfort her as she always did when she was alive. She really had plenty of things to tell her. After much thought, she picked herself up.

Her sister was also someone she shared her burdens with, but that changed months after their mother died. She couldn't pinpoint what caused her sister to hate her but no matter how much Tracy hated her, she was still going to love Tracy until the end of time.

Tomorrow was the day to display how well she could use and control her powers as a flower fairy. She was a flower fairy just like their late mother, while Tracy was a fire fairy just like their father.

She knelt beside her bed and prayed as her mother had taught her.

“Guardian of the righteous and innocent, please, shield me from evil, strengthen me, protect me from my enemies, give me victory over them, and help me fulfill the destiny you have given to me. Thank you, for I know you will grant the heart desire's of your child.”

Seeing that she couldn't find sleep despite all her attempts, she flew to the royal castle hall where all royal ceremonies were held and began to decorate the entire place by using her magic to create raspberry pink and white roses, giving the hall an exquisite royal look.
