Chapter 312 brushed past her

He wrapped his arm around her waist, and his hand gently stroked her back. "Are you still angry with me?"

"Not really."

Although Gu Ruochu was sad when he left, sullen Mrs. Huo and Nanny Zhang comforted her, and her mood had improved significantly.

However, Huo Nanchen knew that she still had a knot in her heart. He carefully concealed the gift he had bought for her.

"It would be great if we could have a baby." Even Huo Zirui was expecting a child. He wanted to have a child with her. Huo Nanchen suddenly took her hand and pressed his cold, thin lips against hers, slowly turning them hot.

Each touch made her tremble. His sweet voice echoed in her ears.

This was the third time Gu Ruochu had heard him bring up the idea of having a baby. Her expression was a little stiff. There were too many unresolved matters between them. It wouldn't be ideal for them to have a child in their current situation.

Gu Ruochu scoffed softly and freed herself from his hold. "I'm going to the set. If you want to drop me off, we should get going."

"Are you full already?"

Gu Ruochu curled the long hair on her shoulder and nodded lightly.

He got up and reached out to stroke her hair.

He then deviously presented her with the gift box he had been hiding from her. It was a gift that he had picked out meticulously. He wondered if she would like it.

"What's this?"

"It's for you."

Gu Ruochu hesitated for a moment before taking it. She lowered her head to hide the joy that was surging through her heart. The gesture had come out of the blue.

She did not want him to see the change in her expression, so she turned around and went upstairs to open the gift. As she made it up the stairs, a warm grin appeared on her face.

Huo Nanchen watched her back as she went upstairs and smiled proudly.

Behind the kitchen door, Mrs. Huo and Nanny Zhang covered their mouths and pulled their heads back. They looked at each other and smiled before quietly leaving.

At last, the couple appeared to have put aside their differences.

When Gu Ruochu came downstairs, a huge quarrel had broken out. Huo Zhenggang, who had returned to the house late in the night, had just found out about Gu Li and Huo Zirui. He flew into a rage in the living room.

"Say that again!"

"I want this child." Huo Zirui enunciated each word. Huo Zhenggang furiously banged the table. "As long as I live, I will never allow you to marry that woman! You should think about aborting the child. The Huo family does not need such a cheap bastard!"

"Cheap bastard?" Huo Zirui's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Gu Ruochu is also a member of the Gu family. Father, do you want to repeat those words in front of Big Brother?"

"Shut up!" Huo Zhenggang could not believe that Huo Zirui had dared to contradict him. He angrily rebuked him, "How can you compare Gu Ruochu to that woman? If you don't understand, shut up!"

Huo Zirui did not back down. He felt that his father was applying an unfair double standard and continued to confront him.

Gu Ruochu and Huo Nanchen walked over. They did not intend to stay and watch. "Father, we'll be leaving."

Huo Zhenggang was so angry that he only waved his hand in response.

Huo Zirui saw Gu Ruochu and looked at her with a hint of hatred hidden in his eyes. Gu Ruochu returned his gaze with a cold stare and brushed past him.
