"Thank you, but by any chance do you know which room I have been allocated to?" I asked in a polite manner.
I wasn't going to make any more enemies.
The young woman sighed briefly as she pointed a finger at me.
"Young, arrogant, fearless, powerful yet selfish".
"Excuse me?".
"By the look of your face, you must be a Forbidden. Your door room is number three. Just make sure you don't disturb the room next to yours, she is a very troublesome lady" These were the last words she said to me, though her eyes darted towards me as she walked away.
She looked human for a bland appearance like hers.
I ignored the comments she said while I quickly hurried to the west building.
It was a five-minute walk from the courtyard but many Gods seemed to disregard me as I entered the building.
Some left the tightly packed hallways and others locked their doors.
It was enjoyable to see others fear me, especially when it meant I had an influence on others.
The inside of the building was basic yet modern.
A red carpet was laid out as strings of ribbon hung from chandeliers.
Vases and exotic fruit were on display like expensive diamonds while a glass cupboard was filled with trophies and photos of the Gods all huddled together as if they were one big happy family.
The wooden floorboard was old yet functional but I glanced towards two staircases leading to the different areas of the building.
Two girls were leaning against a pillar, giggling to themselves and in this building only girls lived here as I hadn't passed a single male on the way there.
It was a wise decision although something troubled me as I came in.
I heard two girls talking about their allocated colour symbols.
Priestess Salma did explain to me that on the first day I entered the castle I had to choose colours that would represent my assigned role.
This meant that my room must also be the colour I had chosen.
On the first day, I had to choose either a mint green or a vivid violet.
Of course, none of these colours suited me and so I chose gold and midnight black.
Priestess Salma did not like my colour choice as gold indicated prosperity and luxury and the colour black represents strength, seriousness, power, and authority.
She didn't want me to stand out as being 'too powerful' although it felt like she wanted me to stay hidden from the crowd like a shadow.
I climbed up the staircase and I held my hand on the rail.
Sounds of laughter bellowed in the halls of young girls.
When I reached the top I saw a map on the wall of different rooms and services.
My room was on the right and about sixteen doors away. As I began my search for the room I noticed how the hallway was narrow than the castle's one.
Some girls even complained about the building itself.
"I heard one of the boys is hosting a party in their room" A fae-looking girl smiled greedily.
"No way! Who is it?".
"It's Azure. Apparently, Damien made him angry so he is holding another party just to make himself feel better".
"Isn't that the third party this month?".
"Yea I guess so. Rumours have it that Azure is fighting the courage to invite the Goddess of Darkness herself".
"Her!? Isn't she the one who defied the king at the ceremony?".
"Of course it is. Sometimes I wonder why that freak doesn't crawl in a ditch and die there" The Fae girls laughed as she flicked her hair to one side.
"Tell Azure I won't be going to his party and next time learn how to whisper" I passed by the girls and they all jumped in fright.
The girls gazed at me in panic, wondering what my next move would be.
The Fae girl held her breath as I could hear the murmurs of Gods through the halls of despair.
No one looked at my eyes and yet they still stayed quiet.
"Please forgive us goddess of darkness. We didn't mean to offend you" A pink frilly-haired girl spoke in a low tone of voice as if she was a mouse.
The way she spoke to me felt as if I was the monster here and that I had done something wrong.
Why was everyone afraid of me?
"I hope so" I gave them the death stare though their eyes gleamed in agitation.
I didn't want to stay there any longer so I continued my search, trying my hardest not to look back.
My skin felt like it was being pricked by thousands of small thorns although eyes were watching me since they were all like hawks.
I just need to get to my room before I tumble into any more problems.
I was never going to be welcomed here.
After walking for a couple of minutes I finally arrived at the sixteenth door which was covered in specks of black with gold swirls, twirling in symphony.
The door next to me was covered in fireworks of different colours that flashed in amazement.
Our rooms were designed by our roles and each door was different from the others.
The numbers on the door were not in order and yet they went up in different patterns.
The number on my door was sixteen yet it took me twenty doors just to reach my room.
Except there was the fifteenth door that gave me the chills as I went past it.
While every door had a pattern the fifteenth door was plain and only had a white colour to it.
Scratches of nails were dug into the door as if an animal with large claws had tried to scratch its way in.
I took deep breaths and glared at my door.
This will be my new home.
