Chapter 3 - The unexpected

"Asaal you scared the poor hell out of that girl!" Adora yelled at him in frustration while he stood there motionless.

"It's not my fault she got scared" He ignored my presence and walked over to the couch where he had slumped like an old bear.

That was Asaal?!

He was a tired-looking God with a restless face.

He had medium-length hair which was tied halfway up as it was a greyish colour.

His skin was the colour of peach and his eyes were like a river of blood.

I didn't know what to expect of him as he reminded me of someone who had enough of life itself.

He had bags under his eyes and a black dot under his right eye.

He wore a black thin jacket and a dark greyish shirt.

Yet I was fascinated by one part of his body.

On the lower part of his neck was a large tattoo of lines and symbols running through it and it made me wonder what those tattoos meant.

No words were engraved on his chest but only the black ink of lines that swirled around like a sea of ink.

I wanted to touch his tattoos but it was rude of me to even suggest such a thing.

Where I lived only one or two citizens had a tattoo and they weren't as beautiful as Asaal's one though.

"What are you looking at?" He caught me glaring at his chest and my face flushed red in embarrassment as I didn't know how to reply.

"O..oh sorry I was just curious. I will see you girls around" I covered my face trying so hard not to scream from humiliation.

I hope I never see Asaal ever again.

"Who is that girl?" Asaal asked Adora as she sat on the couch next to him.

"Oh, that is Adriana Darcia. She is the new Goddess of Darkness everyone was talking about. She is quite fascinating if you ask me. She reminds me of Medea don't you think?" Adora smiled to herself as Azami picked up a couple of objects from the corner of the room.

"Hm. I guess you can say that" Asaal leaned back on the couch humming himself to sleep.

I stormed down the hallway of the castle as I tried my hardest to think of what to do next.

It was already getting dark and I had nothing else to do but find the room I was going to stay in.

Many Gods had already walked passed me and nearly all of them were terrified of me and I even caught a glimpse of a boy running away from me as I was trying to find the bathroom.

This place defiantly wasn't as welcoming as the first time but it's better if Gods don't end up speaking to me.

I already made a joke out of myself for staring at someone's tattoo as if I never saw one in my life before.

The castle was huge and it took me hours just to find out that I was going around in circles.

If I was the king I would put up some directions so no one could get lost in his goddam castle.

There were about hundreds of knights stationed inside the castle and there were even more outside as if they were protecting us from something.

As the clicking sound of my heels followed after me my dress swayed side to side as a gust of wind escaped for shelter inside.

It was a winter's month so I would've expected someone to at least lend me clothes as they didn't allow me to bring any clothes with me to Olympus.

Yet I had to find the library so I can use my time before dinner to learn the secrets of the city as much as possible.

Adora explained how there would be Gods coming after me but to me, all of them were trying to avoid me.

None of them even glanced my way, so who was it that I had to be careful from?

Then it hit me.

Azami was talking about these Gods called Chaos, War and the others who would be on my tail.

I can rule of Chaos for now as they wouldn't be coming back until a year but what worried me was this Damien God.

I have to find my mother and if these Gods want me for something much more dangerous then I had to find allies quickly before I would become Damiens's next punching bag.

My mother's name was Lamia Cromano and she was an extraordinary woman.

When she was a young girl she was a general who worked for the king of the mortal lands until she was injured in battle and couldn't fight any longer.

I never knew who my father was but my mother never wanted to speak about him and said it was better off not knowing who he was.

Two days before her disappearance I watched her opening a small golden box with birth certificates and a photo of a man inside.

I couldn't get a glimpse of his face but I could tell from the way she looked at him that it was my father.

That night mother cried until sunrise, she was mourning the loss of my father but except of telling me all about him, she wanted me to avoid him as if he was never there.

Could my father have anything to do with my mother's disappearance?

Did his death torment her to leave?

Did my face remind me of him so she left?

Was she hiding something more than just my father's death?

My own thoughts became nightmares of theories.

She always tried to hide important information from me and now that I think about it my mother never truly told me anything about her past.

The only reason I knew so little was that I used to rummage through her things at night to find any sweets.

But instead, I found a letter about her discharge from the army as she had lost an arm due to a blast.

Mother told me she lost her arm due to a certain disease and we didn't have enough money to buy a big house in the city yet she was able to afford a mechanical arm and be able to buy her secret stash of expensive alcohol.

Secret money, dead father and Olympus.

This all has to add up to something bigger and me leaving now is not the best time, I needed to collect more information and know what is truly happening in this world for these types of things to be happening.

If I could somehow get my way into one of their little community groups I can get as much information as I can from them.

With all my evidence in check, my first plan is to make some allies and see if they have any valuable information.

Azami kept quiet most of the time and Adora gave me useful information yet I could see right through her.

She needed something from me and so she gave me important details that she knew would make me believe that I could help her.

Now I was heading towards the library so I could collect my thoughts there without someone trying to pass out when looking at me.

But something felt amiss…

"You must be the new God" I heard a voice from behind me.

I turned around to see the most beautiful girl I had ever seen before my eyes.

She was like the brightest star in the sky and just looking at her could bewitch you.

She had the most luscious of hair and eyes that sparkled and shimmered like diamonds.

She wore a beautiful dress of baby pink with patterns of white flowers.

But she had the typical standards of blue eyes and blonde hair.

Which was quite a shame but just by looking at her you could tell she was the goddess of beauty.

Her hair was silky and long like pieces of gold thread.

"Yea that's me, what is it to you?" I looked her up and down.

"I was just curious to see if you were just like Chaos" She smiled innocently which made me feel uncomfortable.

"I am not her so go back to wherever you came from" I rolled my eyes continuing my way to the library until a couple of girls stepped in front of me.

Things were about to get ugly.

"I just wanted to have a chance to talk to you. Every newcomer deserves a chance don't you think?".

"Depends if there being threatened or not" I chuckled a little.

The girl laughed with an uneasy smile as she slowly walked towards me as her friends circled me like ravens waiting for their next meal.

"So what did you do?" She ordered giving me the cold shoulder.

"What are you talking about?".

"Don't pretend you don't know. What did you do to make Dabria choose you over her little sister?" She eyed me.

"I said I don't know the shit your talking about" I was about to yell right at her face but her friends had different plans for me.

"Listen new girl I don't want to hurt you. Maybe we can be friends but all I want is answers from you".

"Answers from me? Sorry darling but you will be disappointed to know that I know nothing" I tried to barge through the girls yet they held onto my shoulders and pushed me onto the ground.

Shit that hurt!

"We can either do this the easy way or the hard way. I am the leader of this whole community and my advice is for you to be gone. Gods like you shouldn't even exist, because of evil types like you many of us had to suffer your consequences" Her bothersome heels clicked on the marble floor while she grabbed a piece of my hair inspecting it carefully.

I gritted my teeth in irritation as I had no power to let go of her grasp.

If I did her friends would come to attack me as they were a pack of hungry wolves.

"Let go of me!" I shouted.

Her friends began to laugh hysterically, one of them even threw a piece of paper at me but I was smart enough to not see what ridiculous comments they would say about me.

The girl bent down making sure her knees didn't touch the floor as she didn't want her 'dress to get dirty'.

Beauty was defiantly someone you didn't want to be friends with.

"Your hair is a bird's nest, your skin is too pale, your eyes are too narrow and your clothes are tackier than your personality" She scoffed at my face.

"At least my personality isn't as shittier than your ugly bitch ass face" I spat at her face as her friends shrieked in shock.

Some of them began to slowly back away from us and the others were in pure surprise as they couldn't even utter a single word to each other.

I felt proud of myself but I could feel beauty's skin boil like a raging volcano as she wiped the spit off her face.

She tried to compose herself yet she was on the verge of choking me to death.

"You are dead meat. Do you think you will survive in this city? No one is going to accept a freak like you who only hurts innocent Gods and mortals" She began to shake from fury as she breathed in and out trying her best to stay calm.

"I am not a freak. What kind of lunatic like you hurts an innocent girl like me who hasn't done anything wrong? To me, it seems like you are the monster here because you are worse than Chaos herself".

Beauty leaned towards my ear as she gently whispered words I didn't want to hear.

"I am Alina Goddess of Beauty and it is my job to eradicate treacherous, despicable and hideous creatures like you from this world. You can hide as much as you want but you will never be safe here" Her breath smelled like freshly picked lavender flowers.

I wanted to slap her face here and now.

"Well then, you better catch me" I laughed.

I stood up slamming myself into the girls as they all shrieked in pain falling over like toppling towers.

"Get that witch!" She cried out.

I ran as fast as I could panting for breath as I looked behind me to see how far they were from me.

Some of the girls were still on the ground yet Alina was at me like a lion.

I used all my strength to push myself forward as I darted towards every corner I could and even pushed some guards along the way.

My breathing became unstable as I tried my hardest to keep on going as Alina was still trying to catch up to me.

I could feel the wind rush against my skin as the adrenaline of excitement enlightened me.

I never felt this way before but things were already getting much more intriguing than I thought.

Alina pushed aside every person who got in her way as her eyes were fixed on me.

I jumped over every object that tried to stop me and knew I could do this all day long if she wanted to play this game of cat and mouse.

But as I turned to the last corner I looked behind me to see how far she had caught up to me yet I will forever regret that decision.

I couldn't see where I was going and before I could reach the library doors I collided with a figure and I toppled into them.

We fell onto the freezing floor as pain shot into every part of my body.

I groaned in pain as I placed a hand on my head trying to stop myself from feeling dizzy.

Whoever I landed on must have been really tough because their body felt like a brick wall.

They had a muscular body as if they worked out practically every day and their arm was wrapped around me like a huge blanket.

As I opened my eyes Alina and the other girls caught up to me and before they could grab me they stared at the figure in fright as some of them even hid behind Alina.

"Oh my god," She whispered to herself.

I didn't know what was so shocking until I stared at the person laying on the ground.

My eyes widened as I saw a figure of a male around the same age as me.

He had ruby-red eyes that stirred like a ravishing sea of red colour.

He had a porcelain skin tone and a long scar ran through his jaw.

His hair was blonde and he had three ear piercings on each ear.

He had a black smoke-like tattoo that went through his neck swirling around as if there was no end to it.

He wore a black suit that matched him so perfectly I would believe that his whole personality was based on suits.

Yet what intrigued me was the black horns on his head.

They were pointing towards me and just touching it could feel like a wonder of excitement.

He was fascinating and something I had never seen before in my life.

He quickly stood up dusting off any dirt that had gotten into his perfectly designed suit.

"What vile creature like you dares to fall onto me?" He growled in a deep tone of voice.

All my amazement then turned into disappointment, having another Alina was worse than I thought.
