A retreat

A spaceship larger than the rest nose-dived right into the heart of city-c causing it to explode, killing an unprecedented number of aliens and hunters both in air and on the ground, as it destroyed floating spaceships while the explosive force blasted all the flying hunters far away and leaving a mushroom cloud in its wake.

The explosion had blasted Zephyr almost a kilometer away into a wrecked building which causes him to lose consciousness, with blood flowing out of his body, his blood extends outwards looking for materials to hasten the healing process, but there were only rocks in sight.

Then, bright yellow particles covered his body then teleported him amid dead bodies, which his blood immediately attached itself making use of the organic material to speed up the healing process, which didn't take long.

"What happened," he said as opened his eyes to find himself lying face flat on the ground, as he gradually gets up, he looks around his surroundings, a scene from a horror movie greats him, with green blood, cracked items, and body parts all strewed.

His blood begins to boil as he observes the destruction and massacre in front of him, his mind now comprehending the full effect of this war if not ended quickly, he hadn't taken the situation too seriously before, though the core warned him, after seeing the invaders himself, they looked weak in his eyes, but after seeing this, he began to wonder what could have happened to other cities, he couldn't let this war continue at this pace, because it wouldn't matter who won, the earth would be left in pieces.

He began to contemplate his next move when he started hearing chewing sounds like someone was eating something.

He quickly began to move in the direction of the sound as picked up a bloody sword on the ground, he didn't know what it was, but he wasn't going to do anything stupid, he moved gently until he reached where the sound was coming from it was an alley, he quickly hid behind a house barely standing, as he peeked at what it was, that's when he saw it, something very horrifying.

The alien he had confronted on the ship wasn't dead, and it was chewing on the head of a human that had been severed, his tentacles wrapped around it, helping him keep it in place as he kept eating.

That's when zephyr noticed what he was eating, it wasn't the head but his brain and his body which was full of injuries were healing at a visible rate, he couldn't let it completely heal because then killing it would become tougher but he couldn't rush in recklessly.

He quickly observed to see if it still had its plasma gun nearby, the alien didn't think that someone would still be alive, by the time he sensed some vibrations, zephyr had put the sword in his head, killing it in an anti-climatic manner.

Dha'ik had died

Two aliens in a large spaceship about to takeoff on their lord's order to confront the enemy suddenly stop, something had happened, the connection with the Dha'ik had suddenly cut off, and there was only one answer as to what happened, he had perished in battle.

Another alien quickly approached them with a message of a summons from their lord, the two hastily get off the ship as they moved to answer the call of their lord.

They arrive and begin to converse telepathically with their lord.

"I'm sure you must have felt it, Dha'ik has died, it seems we have underestimated the primitive lifeforms on this planet, and I cannot bear having my children suffer any more losses," said the brain in the capsule

"We understand, my lord, so what do you suggest we do?" asked Ag'im

"We'll use 'that' said the brain

Both aliens made apprehensive looks as the brain said those words, and they wanted to change their lord's mind as they said, " But my lord, we-

"I have made my calculations based on the information we have collected from the planet, they do not have the technology to transverse throughout space, and all reports state that the creature can't fly, so we have nothing to worry about, direct the ship towards that planet, we do not have any other choice," said that brain as he cut off Ag'im before he even speaks.

The two could only nod as they left their lord's chamber to issue out the orders to make sure things run smoothly as they called back their remaining units and move to annihilate an obstacle once and for all.

Back on earth, hunters couldn't celebrate the retreat of the alien invaders, as many had lost both comrade and family members, humans were beginning to realize just how weak they were in the grand scheme of things.

About two hundred million people had died due to the invasion, both hunters and commoners alike, and everybody still trying to find out just who the dark blue creature is, and why it had helped them

Commoners were still unallowed to roam out of the underground bunkers until a week passes due to the fear of an ambush

A meeting was quickly being held as world leaders gathered to discuss the next step to take against the invaders that had left their world in ruins.

Scientists got busy as they began to reverse engineer the plasma guns and spaceships as they also studied the corpses of the fallen aliens.

As things got underway, and earth goes into a temporal state of peace, zephyr was back on the island where he met the Scorpions

He's lying down on the sand while going through what else he had discovered about his powers from the planetary core along with some other things.

First of all, the basic form of energy in this world is called Nova Altair or Nova essence, and most beings are born with a Nova core besides our heart.

It had made the interface ten years ago when it sensed a fluctuation in the galaxies boder to help humans prepare for incoming threats by converting the Nova core of monsters into ability cores to make growth of humans process faster and made strength quantifyable in numbers to make sure humans have a fighting chance.

it also created dungeons using nova essence to increase human battle strength by making them train without the fear of death.

I learned to control my power's better now, I think it's because of whatever the planetary core had put into my body earlier, I also made a hypothesis on how it works.

I can't disintegrate just anything, while I was injured my injury closed when my blood touched organic materials, but I think I can disintegrate stuff like metal and rocks to maintain my stamina, that's why I didn't feel physically fatigued while I was fighting.

We both agreed that the aliens weren't done yet, though, we don't know exactly when they'll come back, just that they will.
