Lex

When the light dimmed, Raven found himself standing in his living room, the same place he was before being teleported. He still couldn't completely take in what had happened but vowed to utilize this chance to the best of his abilities.

Raven slowly walked up to the couch and sat down. Remembering what the voice had said about all the progenitors having an assistant, Raven decided to try it out quickly since he just couldn't seem to sit still.

He quickly called out his status once more and said, "Hello, anybody there?"

Seemingly waiting for the question, a red blob popped out of the screen. The blob seemed to violently shake for a few seconds before exploding. In its place was a small red bat.

The bat looked straight at Raven and spoke, "I am Personal Assistant Number 4637, dedicated to assisting the progenitor of vampires."

Looking at the bat trying to put on a serious face, Raven couldn't contain his smile. While smiling, he said, "You know that name is going to be quite difficult to say, so how about I just call you Lex."

"Since I am created to be your assistant, you may call me as you choose," replied the bat, now named Lex.

"So Lex, what can you help me with?" asked Raven.

"As Gaia may have introduced, the progenitors can do anything they want once they reach Gaia. But before that, each progenitor is responsible for making a basic structure for their races. After that, progenitors may rule over their respective races or leave them to fend for themselves. However, it is recommended for progenitors to look after their races, as they shall then be given certain extra perks," answered Lex.

"Wait a second, so the voice who talked with us was Gaia?" Raven asked, suddenly noting what Lex had said.

"That would be correct, or to be exact, it was the awakened consciousness of Gaia," said Lex before adding, "Now, before anything else, we have to deal with minor tasks."

"Minor tasks?" Raven asked.

"Yes, such as your name and such," said Lex.

Raven thought for a while and said, "Oh… I see… I quite like my name, so let's keep it as such, maybe slightly change my last name to something like 'Nightshade.' Yeah, that's it, let's change my name to Raven Nightshade."

As he said it, he felt something change within himself, so he asked Lex, "Lex, what did I feel just now?"

"That would be your true name imprinting on your soul. A true name defines a being's very existence. If you were to attain any characteristics or traits in the future, they would also get added to your true name," explained Lex.

"Okay, so Lex, did I get any powers or something when I became a vampire?" asked Raven.

"Currently, you haven't entirely turned into a vampire due to the absence of mana. Only when you reach Gaia can you truly be reborn as a vampire," answered Lex.

"So, how are new races going to come to Gaia?" asked Raven, curious.

"In your case, you could choose to evolve people from your planet into vampires. Other than that, people could also randomly evolve into vampires after getting chosen by an ascendant," Lex answered.

"So, can we go to Gaia right now?" asked Raven excitedly, to which Lex said they had to wait until tomorrow.

Hearing this, Raven decided to take a nap and get ready for the beginning of his new life.

_______

When Raven was having a sound sleep, the same couldn't be said for many. In an office a few miles away from Raven's house, a meeting was being held.

In a dimly lit room, a number of people were sitting around a large table while a young man stood in front of the table, speaking to the audience. After he finished talking, the whole room was enveloped with an eerie silence.

"So, what you're saying is that all those people who came into contact with the meteor were teleported to a place where they were evolved into progenitors, and that all humans are going to be slowly teleported to another place called Gaia, correct?" asked the person sitting at the head of the table.

"Yes, sir, that would be correct," answered the man.

"And you are the progenitor for an entire race of dog people?" questioned the person at the table.

"Kobolds, sir, they're called kobolds," replied the man with visible displeasure.

Seeing this, the people around the table decided it wasn't wise to continue this topic. They quickly intervened.

"Sir, I think it would be better for us if we quickly find progenitors. Only then could we have any sort of power in the new world."

Hearing this, everyone nodded.

The man at the head of the table ordered, after some thought, "I want our entire power to be put into finding any progenitors and attracting them to our sides."

Hearing this, everyone quickly dispersed and started mobilizing their forces.

Similar things happened around the world, with those in power trying to retain the same power in a new world where otherwise they would have to start at the same line as others.

______

While the upper echelon of society was trying their hardest to find progenitors to establish authority in the dire times that were to come, the general populace had no clue as to what happened and what would happen. The majority of them were sound asleep or living as they usually did, unaware of what was to come.
