Apology (2)

"My Lord," she bowed and curtsied in front of him. Adira prayed a little that he wouldn't ruin her day. She wished to sleep peacefully after all.

Adira raised her gaze and fixed it on his face. If it were her previous self she wouldn't have done that. The current Adira did and will continue to do it.

"Adira…" Zaros said as he tore his eyes from the divine scenery only to fix them on his wife's eternal beauty. A satisfied smile formed on his face as he looked at her. His heart felt calm strangely with her presence.

He forwarded his hand asking her to give her hand. Adira gave her hand like a robot. When she realized what she had done, she decided to retract her hand but he held it firmly, making her unable to get her hand. She pouted at his act yet said nothing.

Zaros said nothing he just smiled to himself at his childish wife's antics. He made her sit on the couch and he sat beside her.

Cupping her soft and smooth face, in his calloused palms, he gazed at her with guilt, regret, and love.

Love?

Does he love her?

He does.

His heart yearns for this innocent beauty.

Regret?

He does regret the actions that he did. He knew he did them under the spell, but he can't deny the fact, that he did it unconsciously. If he was careful with his jewelry, then he would have escaped the horrible scenario. She wouldn't have suffered. He was careless.

Guilt?

He was guilty of his actions. He wasn't able to protect her. He failed to protect the woman whom he promised to take care of in the presence of nature, the moon goddess, elders, family, and citizens.

Adira was confused when she saw his expression. She was confused by the things she saw in his eyes. She wanted to believe him yet something stopped her. Adira was not sure if she shall believe him or not.

For some reason, her heart was asking her to give him a chance today. If he doesn't act like a dick today… then she would give him a chance.

Call her foolish. She wants to give herself a chance in her married life. After all, she has no choice. She has to mold her life in the best she could do it. Adira couldn't just live a life full of hate, anger, and all the negative things. She needs happiness, peace, and joy too.

Even if she didn't have a happy marriage or a marriage of love, she can have a married life filled with peace and respect. She deserves that. She would do to get that. This way, she could have an understanding of her husband and it would be peaceful to rule the race with her husband.

Before she says something to him, she decided to know what he wants to say. If he doesn't say what she was expecting to, then she would say it out. If the peace-making attempt fails, then she would go with the rules she set for the marriage.

She looked at his silvery eyes which were the exact copy of the full moon that appears once a month. They have a shine that captures her heart every time she looked into his eyes. Maybe this was the reason why she was willing to give him another chance. She slightly nodded her head at him as if asking him to go ahead.

"I remember everything from the past two months," he said with a nervous smile to her which seemed new to her.

Adira felt nothing in her heart at his words. She knew he never forgot his memories. It just confirmed her doubt.

"I know," she said quietly.

Zaros felt like he was walking on eggshells as he looked at her. Why does she need to be so calm?

It's like water flowing calmly. When it was angered, it would cause a disaster in a way that nobody could fix it.

"Aren't you angry?" he asked. He couldn't stop himself. Why was she keeping a straight and expressionless face?

Even earlier her face gave away that she wanted to leave the chambers. Now he couldn't decipher anything from her.

Was it that… she was too tired of him and doesn't want him anymore?

He panicked at that thoughts. Every nerve in his body felt shaking at this thought. He couldn't imagine his life without her. Dread took over his face as he looked at her.

"Why shall I? If I didn't see you creating something out of anything, then I shall be worried. I know you are acting. I guessed it. Nothing surprising. It was fun watching you acting like you are dumb," Adira pointed harshly. Her words felt like a hard slap on his face that started to hurt him badly.

He let it slide because he embarrassed himself with his stupidity. He can't blame her for this.

"I am sorry. I wanted to forget those things. I didn't know how to do it. So, I faked it. I thought you would get back to me. When things were better, I wanted to reveal them to you. But… things went oppositely," he said hoping to see anger in her face but she was only smirking at him.

Adira was proud that she didn't fall for his acting. She just smirked at him as if she was taunting him that she wouldn't fall for him.

"I thought I could have my wife. I can let my sister have your brother. And I felt that is the right way to fix the problems. Things didn't go the way I wanted and I messed them up. Now… I want to fix them, wholeheartedly," Adira raised a brow at his confession.

She wanted this to happen. As she doesn't want to have regrets in the future. Yet look at the situation, he was apologizing and asking her to be with him. Maybe things will turn out well.
