Before she could process his words, he took a step forward and closed the gap between them. Mauve's breath seized and she fought the urge to take a step back as she had done in the library. She was scared of him but she did not really think he would hurt her.
Mauve slowly raised her head, she could not hear anything except the loud beating of her heart. Jael's blue eyes were searching her face, even in the low-lit corridor, his eyes glowed. She opened her lips, it was suddenly too hard to breathe.
Jael dipped his head and Mauve instinctively closed her eyes. He flicked her hair over her left shoulder, his cold fingers made her shiver. She gripped her dress tighter as her heart threatened to pop out of her chest.
He touched her shoulder, tracing the outline with a finger. "You should go to sleep." His voice sounded musky.
