Case 0: And it Begins

We start this case in a small rural town known as Whispering Pines, where nothing very interesting happens, boring is considered the norm here, and everyone is familiar with one another. 

Lucy spent her morning getting ready for the big homecoming game today because this might be the first time that she'll be allowed to perform the cheer routine she spent weeks practicing.

After filling her back with everything she deems necessary she heads downstairs to leave:

"Bye Mom, gotta leave early if I want to make it to practice." 

"Alright dear, have a great day also go ahead and invite Tim over for dinner."

Lucy leaves through the front door and gets on her bike leaving for school, while exiting Whisper Widow (Lucys Street) all of her neighbors are gathered outside in a line on each side of the street shaking their heads furiously while smiling as Lucy leaves for school, Lucy doesn't think anything of it as its just another regular day in Whispers peak.

Lucy arrives at her high school "Whispers High" and instantly heads for the girl's locker room to get ready. While changing she sees Mrs. Morgan cleaning the floors and Lucy smiles and waves at her, Mrs. Morgan the school's only janitor gives Lucy a big-toothed grin, and deeply stares at her as she leaves the locker room. While heading to class someone taps Lucy's shoulder and she turns around to see her friend Cherry.

"Hey Lucy, think Coach Hedge will finally let you do something today?"

"I hope so, my performance is going to blow the roof off today, who knows maybe the crowd might even cheer more for me than the guys."

"Alright sure Lucy", Cherry says while rolling her eyes. "Just make sure you don't embarrass yourself in front of your boyfriend Timmy"

"First of all his name is Tim and you know we're not dating yet, he doesn't even know I like him, but during the game today I'm gonna make sure to tell him how I feel after we beat the other team."

"Sure Lucy, you've been saying you're going to ask him out since sophomore year, also which school are we playing against?"

Lucy looks puzzled and says "I'm not sure but Principal Jenna says that their a pretty big school"

Cherry has the same puzzled look as Lucy and says " You mean Principle Martin?"

While in the seventh period Lucy looks around searching for Tim, she thinks that he is just late, but remembers that no one in their school has ever been late or missed a day of school, which naturally makes her extremely worried. Lucy goes through all of her contacts to call Tim, however, she can't seem to find his phone number anywhere in her phone. Lucy leans over to talk to Margrett about the situation.

"Hey, Margrett have you seen Tim anywhere? His number isn't on my phone for some reason." Lucy whispers to Margett.

Margrett laughs and asks "Who's Tim? Is he a new secret guy you're dating?"

Lucy ponders for a few seconds before saying "Hmm, honestly I don't even know where I got that name from."

"Hey, Lucy just make sure your brain is still working before the big game tonight." Margrett says sighing.

(*1 year later* in New York City)

"What Is this Sir!?!" Ace says as she follows behind the commissioner.

"Why did I have to be paired with the new guy? his terrible at his job and his most useful asset are his jokes, and I know for sure I'm not the only one who doesn't find that guy funny."

"Look it's already been decided Ace, you've been with us for 2 years now and you're already one of our brightest detectives, but not everything can be done alone."

"BUT WHY HIM?!? He's been working here for less than 2 months and his last partner transferred, due to how utterly useless Ruben is. He's a terrible detective and an even worse partner."

"Look Ace I don't need all this yelling in the morning your already a great detective, you're strong-witted and you know his uhh...I mean...I don't know, but he is something, ill be taking my leave Detective Ace, try not to kill him alright kiddo?"

Ace walks back to her desk, while the other cops avoid eye contact with her.

Ruben walks up to her desk with his big grin and drops a file on her desk, before leaning in.

"Hey partner guess what I got for us?"

"What is it, Ruben? By the way, don't call me partner again." Ace says while ignoring Ruben.

"Anyways, partner guess what I got for us?" Ruben pauses to see the look on Ace's face, "Alright never mind forgot you don't like suspense, but I got us our first case together."

"Really? The commissioner gave you out of all people a case? Is it good?"

"Yep we're going to a small shitty town called..."
