Emily

When I regained consciousness, I stood up hard because my hands were tied up. I wandered in the room. There was a fireplace, a small bed, a wooden chair and a table. I heard some voices coming towards my room, so I rushed to the door and eavesdropped on the conversation.

-"So how is our little fortune? Did she have something? She must has been hungry. Go and give her some food." said the first voice. It was strong and hoarse. And full of pride.

-"Of course. Sir but..." said the second voice, this voice was weak and low.

-"No buts, you are here just to obey. Don't forget that. No arguments or else..! "

-"Yes sir, of course, I will go and get the food."

After two minutes, he came with the food. He was thin and he has brown hair. His eyes were grey and he was wearing a black

T-shirt. He came towards me and put a plate in front of me. He then pulled a pocket knife from his pocket and cut the ropes that tied my hands.

"Here you go little one, eat as much as you can " said he . I was afraid of him, I was looking at my hands. He quickly replied "Oh sorry, where are my manners? My name is Theodore, I work here on the ship as a servant. What is your name?"

-"Emily"

-"Emily, you have a beautiful name ,Emily. "

-I was looking to my hands ,

then he said :

-" Are you hurt, show me your hands "

I showed him my hands. They were hurt from the ropes.

-" Oh, don't worry. It is just a small scratch, just wait for me, I'll be back in a minute "

Then, he went out of the room, and after a while he came back with a bandage and an antiseptic.

-" Now show me your hands " said he

-" They hurt", said I

"I know. Just be patient until I bandage your wound"

"Where are we going? ",I asked the man

-"We are heading to London"

-"when will we arrive? "

-"Just a couple of hours and we will be at the port, maybe we will arrive at dawn"

-"and.. we are finished. Does they hurt now?" said he while bandaging my hand.

I replied :"No, they don't "

-"Alright, now hurry up and eat your dinner before it gets cold "

Then, he left the room. I ate my dinner and then went to sleep. I woke up to loud voices and a traumatic shaking of the ship . At first I didn't realise the ship was sinking, but the moment my feet touched the floor and the water in the room had almost reached my kness, I was sure of it. I tried to open the door but It was locked. I looked for anything that could help me , but I didn't find anything. The window was tightly closed, and even if I managed to open it, I won't be able to swim in that wide and deep sea. I shouted "Help me! Help me" but no one came. I heard men saying "we are sinking get the lifeboats ", I went to the bed because it was the highest area in the room. The water was rising until it reached my waist . I was very scared because I knew that there weren't any exists. I started sobbing. I remembered my family and my home. I thought I won't be able to see them again. Then suddenly, I heard a smashing sound on the door.

-" Emily, are you there? "

It was the servant, Mr. Theodore. I enthusiastically said "Yes, yes I'm here, please help me"

-"Ok, just stay where you are. I will break the door, stay away from it "

Then he broke the door open and said "Are you alright? "

-"Yes, I'm ok".

-"ok let's hurry up before the ship sinks "

At this time, the water had reached my chest. We swam out of the room and then we reached the end of the ship. Mr. Theodore looked at the sea as if he had lost something.

-"oh no, someone took the lifeboat, we have to jump into the sea" said he

-"but I can't swim" said I

-"don't worry I will hold your hands, just don't ever leave my hands or you will drown. Now jump! "we jumped together into the sea. The water was too cold.I was shivering. Mr. Theodore was swimming very well while holding my hands. He told me to swim using my legs, then he found a fallen box from the ship which was floating on the sea, he looked at me and said "climb on this box and stay on it " I did what he told me, then I told him "What about you?". Then someone suddenly said :"Stupid Theodore, do you think you can fool me and take the girl with you? ". We looked behind us, we saw a man on a lifeboat whose hair was black and has many scars on his face. His eyes were blak and full of anger. He said "Now give me the girl ". Mr. Theodore stayed in front of me and said :"No Mcjones"

I didn't know why Mr. Theodore was protecting me although he worked with them.

-So you want to fight? "said the man on the lifeboat

Then he got a knife out of his pocket and tried to stab Mr. Theodore, but he grabbed him to the water and tried to drown him, but Mcjones stabbed him in his leg and punched him in his face, I was frightened. My heart was pounding very fast. I looked at the the sea and found a plank. I tried to grab it while they were fighting, and fortunately I succeeded. I hit Mcjones on his head with that plank with my shaking hands. Mr. Theodore seized that moment took away his knife and stabbed him in his arm. Immediately I jumped on the lifeboat and shouted: "Quick Mr. Theodore, get onto the lifeboat", he got onto it and we started rowing quickly. We heard Mcjones saying "you won't get away I will get you. Do you hear me? Theodore, I will get you". We managed to get away from him, but Mr. Theodore was hurt badly in his leg. It was bleeding profusely.

-"your leg... "said I

-"Don't worry. The most important thing is that we are safe now" said Mr. Theodore. At that time I was really scared. It was the first time I experience something so serious. I didn't know what to do.

-"Don't worry. You did well there, you were brave Emily" said Mr. Theodore

-"I just did what I could. So where are we going now?" said I

-"I don't know maybe we should head to the shore, first. "

-"Yes, I think that's right. We should row to that direction. I can see shimmering lights over there. "

It took us a long time to reach the shore though I thought it won't. We waved to a passing car .

" Can you pick us to the nearest hospital?", Mr. Theodore asked. "

-"Sure "said the driver in a low voice. We got onto the car. All along the way, I was staring at the window . I didn't know where we were, so I asked the driver and he told me that we were in a suburb of London. There was one question that kept repeating in my mind over and over all the time. "Shall I be able to meet my parents again?".
