Family controversy

Lost in thoughts, Dave couldn't realize how much Meena has occupied his mind.

How could she have captivated me like this? Have seen lots of elegant ladies but why am I in captivity by hers. Her beauty is so unique and fascinating. And her voice always sends shivers to my spine each time she speaks. It took me lots of self-control to comport and compose myself in her presence. And there is a thing about the way she looked at me, though sometimes mean. Who wouldn't be when apprehended?

But when I grabbed her, those heavenly eyes...no I don't think she feels the same way. How can I be stupid enough to think she would feel such under the circumstances. Finding out the mystery behind the death of her parents and grandparents. I wonder how she's feeling now and how she's putting up with the whole thing.

I won't let anyone hurt her, not even my father. Speaking of my father, he will feel betrayed when he eventually finds out she's still alive. How do I handle him? Dad is so rigid when he's determined to do something, I doubt if anything can change his mind. But still, he's my father and he'll listen to me.

Still lost in his thoughts before he got interrupted by the knock on the door from his father's hitman and handyman.

"What?" Dave asked as he sat up.

      "You have a call"

      "Come in"

"Your father seeks for your presence," he said as he steps in.

"Got your message, you may leave"

      "Yes sir."

Kendrick has a stubborn and stringent personality, convincing him won't make an impact. Dave thought of a better plan but still couldn't come up with one as he drove his way to meet him.

He stays in Delus at the family house while Dave lives in the neighboring village, Denvis in Nevilla town, Medaline city.

"Dad, you sent for me," Dave said as he walks into his father's large luxurious room.

"Oh yeah, I did boy, have a seat"

"Hope no problem," Dave enquires as he sat on the couch in the corner of the room.

"Not at all son, just that I'm beginning to wonder what's keeping my son from giving me feedback. Aren't you supposed to have gotten rid of the girl? If I could remember vividly, you told me your men found the girl. It's a week plus now, that I was informed of it"

He paused as he stopped moving to-and-fro, to face Dave.

"Is there something that I need to know? All I desire is to see her corpse, then I'll be fulfilled. And am sure my father...your grandfather, will be super proud of us wherever he is" He said moving his face closer to him as he crouches to his level.

"Dad, I know I did tell you the girl has been discovered, but my men messed it up. I know I'm supposed to have let you know of the new development but I don't want to bother you with that knowing well how you will react to it. So I decided to only inform you when the mission is accomplished, sorry dad"

"Dave" he called as he moved to sit at his comfy armchair.

"I was so optimistic, handing this minor task to you. But what did you do? You came back with a dumb excuse spitting it right on my face. You did come here to ridicule me, ugh. Just one simple job...one simple job and you couldn't carry it out" he sips the liquor he has been holding the whole time and continues.

"Why do I have this feeling that you want to betray me?"

"I don't know what you talking about" he pretends not to understand what his father is driving at.

      "Oh?" he expressed questionably.

"Dad, have told you my men messed up and she managed to escape," he said keeping a straight face.

"I've been looking for her for good ten years and it took you four years to find her only for her to escape, how on earth did she evade? Did she know you were coming after her? And I believe there's nothing like a mole working for her. I even requested for you to give me the details of her when you showed me her photo. You said I shouldn't bother that you can handle it and even took the photo back with you" he stopped, sipping his liquor "Alright, so what moves have you taken to recapture her?" he finally asked

"I and my men are working on it"

Kendrick chuckled and went to pour more liquor into his glass "you are working on it..I see," he said as he returned to his seat.

"I comprehend the fact that you are disappointed in me. I'm sorry about that and I don't want any controversy between us. Nevertheless, I'll put in more effort" Dave said as he await to see his father's reaction.

"I give you one week to provide the girl else, I will have to accomplish your failed mission for you" he finally concluded assertively.

"Dad, you don't need to sound rude..besides this innocent girl did nothing, she doesn't even know what's going on. She was just 15 when you assassinated her parents. Haven't you avenged enough? You made sure you eliminated grandpa's killer, which was her grandfather alongside his wife. That should have satisfied your thirst for vengeance but no, you went ahead and assassinated her parents. Now the only remaining lineage of the Judges, you want to eliminate her too. That's so cruel dad, that's cru..."

"Will you shut up?! Shut up, boy!" He shut him angrily and stood up from his armchair.

"How dare you? How dare you preach to me? How dare you speak to me on what to do and what not to do you little brat. Do you think I would have given birth to you if that monster had caught me? And you are here to speak of linage because you never understood the struggle. Your grandparents' lives were cut short cause of that family and you speak of...now I'm convinced that you are hiding something"

He angrily threw the glass of liquor on the wall and the glass slashed all over as he looks at his son with so much outrage.

"You're trying to betray your father? This is so ridiculous, I can't believe this. How can you stand with a total stranger...your enemy, than your own family?"

"Dad, you don't get it, I'm not doing any of these things you accuse me of. No one is betraying anyone here. I'm only trying to make you understand..."

"Understand what Dave? Now I want to ask you, where is the girl?"

"I have no idea," Dave answered, still maintaining his cool.

"Don't get on my nerves boy, where the hell is she?!"

"Dad I think you have stressed yourself so much that you need some rest"

"And who gave you the guts to talk to me like that?!" He shouted as he moved toward Dave and gave him a heavy slap.

"What? Dad! What did you do?"

Dave stood up holding his face with his right hand shocked by his father's action. Something he hasn't done before.

"And I will blow your head off if you don't get out of here. One more thing, make sure you deliver that girl to me in a week cause if you don't...then your grace days will be over. I won't just behead her when I find her but will make sure it's alongside yours, you traitor"

      "Is that a threat Dad?"

"No boy, it's a promise. And you know your father so well on how good he is in keeping promises" he said as he came closer to Dave an inch away maintaining eye contact.

"You know what happens to traitors like you right? Not even the knowledge of you being my son will make a difference. Just one week, then you will barely recognize me as your father!" He finally said and moved away.

Dave drove straight to his penthouse with so much rage piling up in him. He couldn't believe his dad will go the length of threatening him. He thought he could handle his father but never could he have imagined him to overreact in such a manner.

He sounded dangerous, perhaps if I don't provide Meena, I have automatically become his hostile. I thought I knew him but I didn't.

Dave in deep thought freshened up and tried to know if he can catch some sleep. But he couldn't.

Being on the bad side of his father is something he wouldn't want, but letting him hurt Meena is not an option either.

Maybe I should've let my boys do the job without me seeing her. But should I have allowed the blood of the innocent to stain my hands? This isn't my fight and won't get involved in it.

As for my father, since he's cruel enough to see me as one of his foes and threatened to kill me if I don't deliver Meena, then such a man does not deserve to be my father.

I'm ready for whatever outcome and am not scared of him. A week you said? Then let's wait and see.
