It only took them a few minutes to get to the orphanage so the ride there was not long ago. When they arrived at the gates of the orphanage. Damien stopped the car and Marcel quickly unfastened his seatbelt. Rather than jump out of the car, he turned to the back seat to check on Liam who innocently looked back at him.
"I'm going to get our stuff, I'll be back," Marcel said and hopped out of the car, but rather than go to the orphanage, he opened the door to the back seat and undid Liam's seatbelt and moved him to the passenger's seat.
"Why don't you keep uncle company while I go inside," Marcel said as he ruffled Liam's hair. Before either of them could respond, Marcel had already closed the car door and walked towards the orphanage.
Liam turned to look at Damien who looked quite baffled at the whole situation. Where was he supposed to have gotten any experience with children?
"Are you my brother's boss?" Liam asked Damien. Damien was surprised by the question. He did not know that the kid would be so perceptive especially when he took his age into consideration.
"Mmh, how did you know?" Damien asked curiously. Liam looked at him from head to toe pointedly before looking at him with an expression that said: "Isn't that obvious?"
Damien chuckled in amusement and ruffled Liam's hair as Marcel had done before. The child wasn't just cute but he was smart as well.
"How are your studies?" Damien asked curiously.
"They are okay. We got our exam results today" Liam answered. It was quite a strange sight since Liam was introverted but it seemed like he was quite comfortable talking to Damien. If Elise saw how talkative he was being she would definitely feel betrayed.
"How were they?" Damien asked curiously. Liam opened his worn-out backpack and took out his exam papers. He wanted to show off his effort and it had never been satisfying to tell Marcel since he only patted his head and told him he did well.
Damien, on the other hand, noticed how worn out his backpack looked and that drew attention to his worn-out uniform and shoes. Before he could think about it any further Liam took out his test papers from his bag and passed them on to Damien who helplessly took them.
When looked at the papers his eyes widened visibly. The child had gotten full marks on all his exams. The gaze he used to look at him visibly changed. Wasn't it a waste to let the child waste away in a subpar school.
Before he could say anything, his attention was drawn by some noise in the orphanage. Damien frowned and opened his car door and got out of the car. Liam was worried about Marcel so he also got out of the car.
"Are you playing me for a fool?!" Marcel was shouting on the other side of the gate. Before Damien could open the gate to go see what was happening he felt his arm getting grabbed.
When he looked down he saw that Liam was holding on to his arm so he picked him up and went inside just in time to see Marcel get pushed by a fat short man. He wanted to go forward but before he could react he saw Marcel lift his leg and directly kick the man's fat stomach.
"Now you're putting your hand on me? Didn't I tell you I was taking him back for the weekend? What trip are you talking about all of a sudden?" Marcel said as he threw the bags he was carrying to the ground and went to lift the man by his collar. It was quite a sight if Damien had to say anything.
Marcel had always been level headed but since he was a woman before it had been part of his character to be emotional but now if he combines that trait with testosterone he becomes a formidable opponent as he will scold you and beat you up at the same time.
"The child still belongs to the orphanage, you can't take him anywhere without my permission," George said.
"Who told you I was asking for your permission? I was informing you that I was taking him with me for the weekend" Marcel said after scoffing at him.
"I'll call the cops on you the moment you leave with him" George threatened and was immediately lifted even higher. Only the tips of his toes were able to touch the ground. Damien saw that things were getting out of hand so he stepped in.
"What will you tell them?" Damien asked and everyone's attention shifted towards him. It was actually a mystery how they were not able to notice him since he was even taller than Marcel and his blonde hair really set him apart.
George was completely stumped when he saw Damien. How could he have predicted that such a big shot would appear today? He was even carrying the reason he was arguing with Marcel in his arms.
"Well?" Damien asked pushing for an answer.
George speechlessly looked at Damien as he could not come up with a response. Who did not know of Damien who had been a famous actor that had graduated law school and was even on a hiatus so he could be a practising lawyer for two years in his father's law firm. He had nothing he could say that would put him in a favourable position.
"Marcel, let him go" Damien finally said when he saw that Marcel was still grabbing the man by his collar. George was finally able to breathe properly when he was released.
He was not too nervous about how Marcel was handling him because he had been in many similar if not worse situations before. So he wasn't fazed but the grey eyes that were icily looking at him did not let him feel at ease.
Marcel picked up the bags that he had thrown on the floor in a fit of anger and walked towards Damien.
"Why did he change his mind about Liam?" Damien asked Marcel.
"He is saying that there is a trip with the kids of the orphanage this weekend and Liam HAS to be there. HOW SUSPICIOUS!" Marcel said as he turned to glare at George with his green eyes. He was very familiar with these trips.
"Is that so?" Damien said and looked at George. Marcel's reaction was too overboard for it to be something minor something must be going on with these so-called trips. Even though Damien wanted to investigate it he did not feel obligated to do so.
George, on the other hand, felt sweat drip down his back from the gaze that he had just received from Damien. He just hoped he wouldn't be nosy enough to investigate it.
