YOU WERE SPYING ON US?!

BRIA

I helped Nora to get Cameron to the only available safe place in the mansion- Devil's office on the ground floor. I turned off the lights and gave her the study lamp to work on Cameron's wound as I didn't want anyone to notice this room and attack us.

Cameron passed out, and Nora told us that we needed to shift him to the hospital, but how could we get him out through this war?

I couldn't come up with a better idea than informing the police. There was a chance that it would only worsen the situation, but I had to take a risk. I moved the curtains of the window to see more men rushing inside the house.

It was not great!

"Nora, where is the phone?"

"Bria, I think I forgot it on the kitchen counter."

I shook my head in annoyance. "I am asking about a phone in this fucking mansion. A landline or wireless?"

She told me that they had only one phone in that big mansion as nobody really used it or needed it.

Great!

I checked the bullets in the gun I had with me to find I could only survive ten feet outside that room with what I had with me. I began searching through the drawers and shelves. Nora kept reminding me that King would kill me if I misplaced any of his stuff, but I was not in the mood to think about him.

I would prefer to die by his bullet than die in the hands of these attackers!

Finally, I found a fully loaded gun, and I slipped out of his office after telling Nora to lock the door from the inside. As I neared the living room, I saw the white marble covered in only red and numerous dead bodies all over the place.

My heart sank at the condition of the house. Not a single thing was left unharmed.

Those attackers were worst than me!

I looked around the room while taking refuge behind a chair which had more holes in it than a fishnet. My eyes caught the phone on one end of the living room, broken and useless.

I cursed under my breath and shifted my gaze to see Devil fighting with a tall and bulkier man with a long beard and high ponytail on the back of his head.

He looked a few years older than the devil and was giving him a hard time. But I couldn't help but admire the devil's fighting skills. Watching him every day would make you think that the man had stiff bones, but right now, I had my mouth open in awe as I watched him using his body the way I could never!

Was that man made up of an elastic, or had he pulled out all his stiff bones from his body?

I was broken out of the trance when the glass cabinet right beside me shattered loudly.

Phone! Right!

I began searching the pockets of all the dead bodies, but nothing came to my hands. I ventured further into the room and was busy checking the pockets. My hands were shaking violently as all the bad memories danced in my mind.

My hands and clothes were covered with the blood of many people, including Cameron's.

Cameron! He shouldn't die! No!

I froze when I felt something boring holes in my head. I dared to lift up my gaze to see two brown eyes glaring at me. If looks could kill, then I would have been six feet under the earth by now.

The man took advantage of the devil's distraction and hit him hard. Devil staggered and fell back on the floor. But managed to counter his further attacks.

'Forget about him Bria! Let him die now and your every problem will be solved. Cameron and Gabriel will get another chance at life. He is the reason of all this mess. So let him die!'

I continued my search, but my attention again diverted to the devil to see him receiving a punch in his face. I cringed, seeing his torn lip as blood oozed out of it.

My mouth opened, but no voice came out of it as he shook his head subtly looking at me. His eyes told me to leave.

What was he doing?

The man was about to turn his head in my way, but the devil kept him busy.

Wait! Was he trying to save me?

But why?

He could let me die, and that way, he would not break his word and our deal. Wasn't it what he always wanted all along?

My heart began thudding loudly in my chest, and my breath stuck in my chest when I saw the other man raising the gun at the devil. And the brown-eyed monster remained on the floor, waiting for me to run away.

The other man threw his head back, and his taunting laugh cut through the commotion, slashing my heart painfully.

I had two choices.

Let the devil die and end this mess or...

And without another thought, I pointed at the man's head and pulled the trigger. The sound of the gunshot stopped his laughter before he fell face-first in front of the devil.

My mind went numb right after that, and all I recalled was the devil running in my way and catching me in his arms before my legs gave up on me. Faded noises fell on my ears, and things moved in front of my eyes but none of that made any sense to me.

I clutched his arms, silently asking the devil to save me before I fell into the pit of darkness. And he did!

I didn't know when he carried me into the car, and we left the mansion, but throughout the whole journey, he held me closer to him. His hands held me tight against his chest as he carried me on his lap.

KING

"Bria... honey. Don't say that. You are not a killer!" I heard Nora's voice coming from the room where Fire rested.

"No... I killed him. I killed him with my hands! I let mom and dad down. Benji... he will be disappointed at me." She screamed.

"You did what you needed to do. You saved King's life. It was the right thing to do!" Hearing Gabriel's voice, my mood got even worse.

Even after all this, he dared to go near her again!

"No... it was not. My kids... Gabriel... how am I going to face them? How am I going to tell them that I have killed someone? I am a bloody murderer!" She screamed, crying hysterically.

But I was not in the mood to take more of her shit. I strode through the door and grabbed her arm, nearing her. Nora and Gabriel jumped to their feet in shock. Before they could react, I began dragging her out of the room.

She cried, and pleaded to let go of her but not today!

Bringing her into the living room, I threw her on the floor. Cameron came out of his room in a wheelchair, now in a better condition.

I sat in a chair across them and pointed him to come in front of me.

"What exactly happened?" I asked, refraining myself from looking her way. Because... I would be a mess if I caught her doe-like eyes staring back at me with that look in them that I hated the most.

Cameron gulped and narrated the event of the last night, right from the start.

"She told you to get back to the mansion?"

"King, actually-"

I was right in front of Cameron, leaning down to his eye level. I asked through gritted teeth making his eyes widen in fear.

"Yes or no?"

"Y-yes, King!"

"You told her to call me but she didn't?" I asked the next question.

"I tried but got stuck with the password of his phone. Then-" Without looking at her, I held her face digging my strong fingers into her cheeks.

"y-yes, King!" Cameron stuttered.

"It was her idea to go outside?"

"No. It was my idea."

"What about spending a night at a beach?"

Cameron looked conflicted. "I-it was her idea."

Leaving her face as only the thought of touching her did something weird to me. I straightened up and walked back to sit in the chair.

When Kyle came to stand beside me, I noticed the shocked looks on both Cameron's and Gabriel's faces.

He pulled out a pen drive from his pocket and held it for Fire to see it.

"Remember this, Bria Maxwell?"

I clenched my fists, watching her face draining all the colour. She knew it!

"No? Fine! Let me remind you. This I recovered from your room. It was well hidden under your clothes. Rang any bells?" Kyle asked.

She remained silent but avoided meeting anyone's eyes as she stared at the ground. Cameron and Gabriel looked shocked hearing that.

Cameron leaned to touch her shoulder and whispered audibly, "Bria... what's going on?"

And she broke.

"I - I am sorry. I -"

Kyle grabbed her by the hair and forced her to look at him. "King doesn't want your apology. Just tell the truth. Let me remind you that we still have your family on our hold. So think twice before you lie anymore." He threatened.

She shuddered in pain, making my body go more tense than before. If it was any other situation, I would have ripped Kyle's hand from his body without a thought for even touching her like that.

But she made me do this!

"When you killed P-Patrick Becker, I decided to collect evidence against all of you. I sp-spied on you by eavesdropping on your calls, looking for documents and going through your g-gadgets. But I couldn't find anything solid against you.

One day C-Cameron was working on his laptop when he got an urgent call. He forgot this p-pen drive there. I took it as a piece of evidence of avoiding the CCTV cameras. I hide it in my room, waiting for the right time to pass it into the right hands." She confessed, and something inside me snapped.

"B-Bria... you were spying on us?" Cameron was astounded to hear that.

"That is not the only mistake she has made. How conveniently she agreed to the deal to stay with us under one roof. She was there when Adam fell into the swimming pool. She casted her spell on Gabriel and look where it has led him." He pointed at Gabriel.

"That day when Finochi attacked, she purposefully ran out of the car towards the isolated area where he was already waiting for us. That day she was not at your place only to meet you, Gabriel... she was only looking for a chance to escape and give that pen drive to the authorities. But her plan failed, so she tried again by taking Cameron out yesterday.

It can not be a mere coincidence that we were attacked twice during the period of two months and that too when she was present there."

I could only listen to it as anger bubbled inside me. But more than Kyle's voice, her soft sobs bothered me more.

"Enough Kyle. Shut up. You are talking nonsense!" Gabriel growled, unable to take it anymore.

"Non-sense? Really? We are known for our high tech security and secrecy in this business. Then how you are going to explain that our enemies were informed of our plans and locations? It must be someone among us who ratted away on us. Everyone here knows the consequence of crossing paths with King. Except her! Haven't it crossed your mind that we are facing more problems than usual since the day she stepped a foot in the mansion?" Kyle argued further.

And that shut Gabriel's mouth.

"Shut up... just shut up, you asshole! I haven't done any of that. Do you hear me? I don't even know what's in that pen drive. I don't know who your enemies are. I am trapped in that shithole all these days without any means of communication. How am I suppose to contact the police even when I want to? And if I could then I would have contacted my family before than anyone else." I heard her yell in a fury.

This was the first time she had defended herself.

Nora tried to defend Fire, and that fuelled Kyle's anger. But more than that, I could feel Fire's eyes on me. I couldn't take it anymore.

So I stormed out of there without another word.
