The Touch of Hades

[Mature Content] Aurora opened her mouth to say something but only a shaky breath left her lips. Sure she knew she had a sad life, the worse actually. But did fate really have to pair her… With HADES?! Standing before her was the god of death and the underworld. Every picture she had seen of the gods had not depicted Hades’ beauty. The god seated before her was not an old man with a white beard that reached his foot, he was the true definition of glamour. “Well, you beat my expectations. I expected a slim figured sad child.” Hades spoke, his voice sending tingles down Aurora's spine. “And I expected an old man with wonky tooth holding a stick to support his remaining lifeline.” Hades opened his mouth to say something about her outburst, while Aurora mentally faced Palmed herself wishing she hadn't said that to the god of the underworld. She stared at him expecting him to cast her into the darkest hell cell as punishment, but his lips only pulled up a grin. “Well, well… I guess I had expected little from my human mate.” AN-:) IF YOU WANT TO REACH OUT TO THE AUTHOR OR TALK ABOUT THE BOOK (give ideas and whatnot) HERE’S MY DISCORD SERVER NAME ryia6993 LITTLE SPOILER ALERT AS YOU CONTINUE READING I'm going to drop a few hints. *Aurora's POV*

"Mom?"

I called in shocked. Behind her was Madison who also bore a shocked expression on her face. Mom let go of the bottle and quickly closed the door. Something I didn't think to do earlier. While Madison comes to stand close to me, bombarding me with questions one after the other.

This was so not the time to tell her but I thought it best to just ignore her while I stare at my suspicious mom.

"Why are you here Mom?" I questioned.

"To help you get out of here to some place safe where your father can't think of finding you. At least not when you are with him."

"With him?" I voiced my question. I knew she wasn't talking about my dad so who could it be? I wondered.

"There's no time to ask questions. I will fill you in on the necessary information on our way there. Right now, all you need to do is listen to me because more people like that guy are coming and they will do even worse things to get to you."

I wanted to ask why since none of what she is saying made any sense to me. But the fear in her eyes told me to just listen to her... For now.

"You go to your room and pack up." She commanded while she went inside my kitchen to pick up something. I didn't move. I remained where I was standing, not sure of what to do. I had so many thoughts running through my mind. Not knowing what or who to believe. I mean, based on the conversation I listened to, I wasn't sure I could trust her. But then again, she seemed like she really wanted to help me.

But why? I wanted to know more and I didn't like the fact she wasn't willing to answer my questions.

"I think your mom might be part of whoever is trying to get you. " Madison called from behind.

I turned from behind quite taken aback by her words.

"Why did you say so?"

"Instinct." she simply answered before she shifted away from me as soon as she heard my mom's heels coming back to the living room.

"Why haven't you packed?" she questioned when she saw I didn't leave the spot she saw me at before instructing me.

"What are you doing here Mom?" I asked

"I said there's no time to…."

"Well, I need you to answer my fucking question because you don't know where I live to begin with. So what the fuck Mom?!" I tried keeping my tone in check but at this point, I was certainly starting losing it.

She sighs before moving past me with a bottle of bear in her hand. She pops it open and then starts pouring it into my neighbor's shirt. She turns back to me just to notice Madison and me giving her a piercing stare.

"He'll need a story for himself to understand whatever happened and alcohol is the best answer to unanswered questions." she tossed the bottle to the side before she turned to look at me.

"Do you trust me?"

"I love you, but I don't trust you right now," I told her honestly.

She spares a glance at Madison before turning back to me.

"I will fill you in on the necessary details but can we at least do that without a third party?"

"No. She's my best friend." I answered nonchalantly. And I swear to notice a glint in Madison's eyes.

"Haven't you seen a best friend betray you before?" My mom asked me

"No. But I've faced betrayal from those I was supposed to look upon as parents. But that's not what you are here to chat about. I believe you are here because I overheard your conversation so you are trying to get me before your husband does. Isn't that right, Mother?"

"Well, you are right about one thing. I am here to get you before my husband does. He wants to use you for selfish means. There are so many people that want to use you. Well use your ability for their own advantage…"

"And you are not?" Madison chipped in with a question.

"I am not going to deny I didn't pick interest when I realize what and how impactful you would be to our lives. But then I was a mother to you and I realized my husband was taking more extreme measures on how to handle your ability. I wasn't able to keep up. What he wants to do to you is terrifying. What scares me even more, is that there's news out there and the bad people that have been searching for you now know who you are. After the event at the club. They were so many invisible eyes that saw what you thought no one saw"

When she spoke about the club my heart skipped a bit for a minute.

"So, what exactly did you hope to do with Aurora's ability? I'd like to know" Madison questioned, sounding serious. I wanted to know too.

"I didn't even think about it. I was somewhat scared and at the same time, excited about being in the life of someone with such great potential. I didn't really think of what or how you'd turn out. How impactful you'd be in both our lives. Mine especially. I simply wanted to be in your story." My mom says as tears fall down her cheeks.

"Well you were for the most part, and you played a significant role in making me become the person I am right now. But the chapter with you ends here. I hoped you enjoyed the few parts you played in making up the story. Mom?"

For the first time in a really long while, a tear slid down my cheeks. Not that of laughter but of pain and so many regrets.

I picked up the bag I laid on the corner and carried it as a backpack. My iPad was inside already so I started to make my way out of the house with Madison right behind me.

"Wait." my mother called.

I turned to her.

"Even though the few chapters with me being your mom were bitter sweet, I really cared for you. I love you dearly. I won't be a part of your life anymore. But at least, let me make the rest chapters of your life enjoyable. I will give you every detail and then you choose what to do with it. Know who's your enemy and who isn't. But not here… Your dad sent me a message and told me he lost connection with one of his strongest comrades by your hands. So he is sending reinforcements. We need to get you out of here as soon as possible.

"Where should I go?" I raised a question

"You need to be with him. Only he can give you protection away from this world and his own."
