The Time Machine- Will they return?

There are many stories about time machines but nothing like the forgotten tale of the Time machine. It all started back in the 19th century when no one has ever thought of anything machine that could make humans or any other creature travel through time. The genius behind the construction was Professor Thomas Davidson. For him to accomplish such a tedious task he needed help but everyone he asked looked down on him and told him that it would never work. He couldn't give up after all the work he went through to correct the calculations. He went on asking engineers and other brilliant minds to help him but everyone said the same thing, "It wouldn't work…"

Alas he decided to work on it himself. No one other than him knew that The Time Machine was under construction. After some intense years The Time Machine was finally functional. He was so excited that he decided to tell people about it. All the people who said to the professor that it couldn't be done were ashamed of themselves. The news went viral all over the world. Subsequently, there were people who thought that The Time Machine was dangerous which could destroy people's believes. Although many people were against it, there still were people who thought that it could change the world for the better, so a world war started and the professor had to hide in fear of being murdered. After all the tragedy four people gathered they were, Tom, Lucy, Zachary and Emma. The four attempted many times to find the missing professor but when they were about to give up, they found him hiding underground. When the professor saw the four he screamed, "Ahhh! Don't hurt me."

The four explained that they weren't trying to murder him but to use his tech and change the world back to how it was. They also told him that they would want to see some moment of history as well. When the Professor heard that, he calmed down and told them that the time machine was hidden in his lab and that if people saw him he would be attacked by protesters and haters. Then, Tom told the Professor that he could disguise himself. The Professor had doubts about that idea but the four convinced him to do it and the Professor had no other option. The professor then disguised himself and went out. His face looked so surprised. The four questioned the Professor why he looked as if he just saw a ghost. The professor replied that the last time he saw the world it was more serene and less chaotic and the environment was cleaner.

All of them sighed and told the professor that they all wanted the planet to be like that again and the only way to do that is by using the time machine. Now they needed a plan to go to the professor's lab which was guarded with haters in hope that the professor will eventually return. The five of them sneaked into a shop nearby hoping to find something useful. Luckily they found a bunch of hovering boots. Now all they needed was a distraction. For their luck they found an electronic store where they found holograms. The professor took a photo of him and projected it using the hologram and all the people guarding the lab ran towards the hologram. While they ran, the professor and the other four ran to the lab. Inside the lab the lights were blinking and almost everything was broken into pieces.

The professor pressed some buttons on the door and a retinal scanning camera popped out and the professor placed his eye straight with the camera. Then the professor told the four to get ready to fall and just as he said it a trapped door opened and all of them fell down into a secret room under the lab. Inside the room it was pitch black. Then the professor gave the four night vision goggles which were hanging on the wall. The four of them asked the professor how he knew where the goggles were. The professor replied that he had pupils which had a special night vision feature. The four were astonished to hear that and wished that they could have pupils like that. The four of them walked around the room with excitement. Meanwhile, the Professor was busy trying to remember the password to open the door that hid the time machine. Suddenly, the four got shocked when the professor shouted, "I remember it!"When the professor shouted the guard outside realised that it was a trick and started looking around it the lab. The five of them could hear them telling each other, "We're going to torture the professor when we catch him." When the professor heard that he got very scared but the four motivated him to use the time machine. The professor finally typed in the password and the door opened.

The machine was so shiny and the eyes of the four were like stars reflecting the light. Now they needed to activate the time machine but when the professor tried the machine sent out errors in the screen and the professor had to try to find the part causing the error. After some hours of searching with help from the four, they still couldn't find the cause. As they were searching they heard footsteps walking to the way of the exit but to make sure all of the guards have left Lucy lifted the trapdoor and peeked and gave a sign saying they were all gone and she climbed down. The professor finally found the cause of the error, it was the nuclear powered engine which had ran out of nuclear fumes, and then Zachary said with a sign, "Now we have to find a nuclear power plant." Then the professor jumped in and said, "We don't need to find and nuclear power plant, I kept some radioactive waste in another room." The four was very relieved to hear that especially Zachary.

So Tom asked Emma and Lucy to stay in the room and guard the door while the professor, Zachary and he went and took the radioactive waste from the other room. So the three of them tip toed so that the guards would not hear them. Then took a big container filled with radioactive waste and came near the trapdoor and knocked asking the two girls to open the door. When they opened the door they lowered the container carefully and then went down. Now the professor asked everyone to wear special clothes and mask to protect themselves from getting hurt by the radioactive waste. While the four of them wore their special suite the professor had already worn it and has started to pen the valve where the radioactive waste should be put into.

Now the five of them slowly lifted the container and poured the liquid slowly into a hole which was later closed by the professor by the valve. Suddenly, the professor hit a glass bottle with his elbow and it shattered into pieces and for their misfortune one guard heard this. The guard felt suspicious and hit the ground very hard until one part of the wooden corroded floor broke apart. From the bottom the five heard a cracking noise at first then decided to move aside when it fell apart. The atmosphere was filled with dust and the five of them were coughing. The dust went inside their eyes and tears were pouring out. The professor looked up just to see what had happened when he saw a face and exactly when he saw the face, the person shouted, "There are people down here!"

The professor asked the four to wear their night vision goggle and follow him. They now could see the area more clearly and so they followed the professor with no trouble. The professor gave all of them a backpack and inside was food and drinks. The professor told the four of them to enter the time machine immediately and so they did. The professor then immediately locked in the destination and the year and entered it. The time machine started to spin very fast and suddenly it was travelling and all they could see was strips of purple, yellow and green. When the time machine came to a stop all of them fell down from dizziness for a while and when they woke up, they saw tall trees and grass were everywhere. The professor said that they are 179.99 million years from 2088 and that they were in the Jurassic period. Hearing that Emma cried, "I don't want to be eaten alive." The professor then assured her that nothing would happen to her or the rest as long as they follow his instructions when they come across a carnivorous dinosaur. All of a sudden, they heard a loud roar which shook the floor. The five of them started to tremble in fear. In a blink of an eye an Allosaurus jumped out from the bushes by the side. When they saw it, they jumped up with fear and started running. The Allosaurus chased them from the back and by looking at it; they could say that it was feeling extremely hungry. Then the professor had an idea, he asked everyone to run into a forest that was in front of them and forced them to rub mud on themselves. Even though they disliked it they had to do it, to stay alive.

Now the five of them were covered with mud and the Allosaurus left. Lucy asked, "Why didn't the dinosaur eat us?" The professor replied, "The mud destroyed our scent so the Allosaurus thought that we were just mud." Everyone was relieved. The professor now asked everyone to head back the way they came back to the time machine. When they arrived there, the time machine wasn't there and instead they saw large, circular footprints on the dirt and when they looked at the direction of the footprints, they saw branches of some tall trees broken. The professor then took out a small white thing with transparent glass on top. Then, he pressed a button and a beam of light came out of the transparent part of the tiny thing. The professor dragged the beam across the footprint and the machine said with a very robotic voice, "Camarasaurus."

Tom questioned the professor, "What is a Camarasaurus?" The professor replied, "It's a big herbivore." By looking at their faces the professor could say that they were relieved to hear that it was an herbivore. The professor asked them to follow behind him as he proceeded into the direction of the footprints. When they walked in, it was very dark so they took out the torch lights that were inside their bags. When they came out of the other side of the small jungle, they saw an enormous grass land full of dinosaurs. They professors eyes gleamed with delight to see so many dinosaurs. The professor asked everyone to stick together. The professor took his syringe and went near a dinosaur and slowly inserted the syringe into its skin and abstracted some blood sample. Then Emma asked, "Aren't we supposed to find the time machine?" The professor responded, "Oh yeah, I nearly forgot."

Then Tom asked, "How can you forget?" The professor was ashamed and told them, "Ok then, let's go and find." Then the professor took out a tracker and it showed a red dot blinking and it made a beeping noise. The professor said, "It is close by." They followed the way the tracker was leading and finally found it. The professor miniaturised it and put it inside his bag. Then Lucy asked, "Why aren't we going back?" Then the professor replied with a smile, "Why do you want to go back there is more to explore and let's look around because it is not every day you get to go back to the past." They agreed and decided to explore since they couldn't possibly loose the time machine again and if a carnivorous dinosaur attacked them, they could escape using the time machine. Neither of them knew where they were going and were just roaming around when they came across a large Acacia tree. The professor provided everyone with an anti gravity floating device and asked each of them to stick it in their shoes. The instance they sticked them, they started to float. The professor then led them to the top of the tree. They took a branch each and looked at the beautiful sunset. Now they needed to find a place to sleep for the night or else they would be tired at their next destination. The professor asked them to put on the night vision goggles and followed him. They followed the professor when Zachary asked, "How much longer must we walk?" The professor replied laughing in embarrassment, "To be honest, I don't know where we are going." Then Lucy told fiercely to the professor, "Next time, you should really have a plan!"

For their luck they found a cave inside the forest but they didn't know if it was safe or not so the professor went inside with a branch for his own safety. When he went inside there was nothing inside, so he told the four that it was safe. They found some firewood and brought it inside the cave to light a fire. They took out some food from their backpack and had their dinner. The professor said, "There is a small rectangular shape thing in your backpacks, take it out and say 'extend'." The four of them followed his instructions and the tiny thing turned into a comfortable bed. The five slept comfortably. The next day, they waited for about an hour after they woke up and then immediately increased the size of the time machine and pressed into another time period. The time machine started to swirl at a very high speed and before they knew, they were in the line of purple, yellow and green when suddenly they stopped.

The door of the time machine opened and all of them were very dizzy. When they snapped out of dizziness all they saw was yellow everywhere. Tom asked the professor, "Where are…" Before he could continue the professor jumped in and said, "We are in ancient Egypt at 2560 BCE when the Great Pyramid of Giza was built." Then Lucy asked, "Where is the Great Pyramid?" The professor said, "Well we will have to walk there." Everyone was not willing to walk in the hot desert. As they were sighing in despair the professor laughed and took out a small car the size of a cupcake. The four were confused to see the professor chuckling when he too had to walk. The professor said laughing, "Do you really think we are going to walk who knows how long?" Everyone nodded their heads. "Of course not, I will make this car larger." said the professor. The four of them were very glad that the professor had brought equipment like that. When the professor made it human size, everyone got on and an automatic GPS drove the car to the destination. When they arrived there, the Great Pyramid glowed intensely.

The professor explained, "The Great Pyramid of Giza was covered with polished limestone but an earthquake hit Egypt and the limestone broke apart and from then on the pyramid wasn't shiny." The four weren't surprised to hear that since they have heard about it before. Suddenly a group of bandits came to their vehicle with their faces covered. The professor immediately pressed on the accelerator and the car sped and headed towards the Great Pyramid. The bandits were so frightened by the sound of the car that they ran away from the car in tremendous speed. When the car stopped, they were near the Great Pyramid. While they were admiring the beauty, they heard people shouting but they didn't understand them. The professor gave each of us two, extremely small round things and asked us to stuff it in our ear. . "What does these do?" asked Tom. "This allows you to understand any language in the world." replied the professor. The instance they stuffed the things in the ear, they understood what the people were shouting. "Hey stop there! We are soldiers of King Khufu!" said the people running toward them with a rough voice. The professor said with fear, "We're doomed!"

The soldiers surrounded the car and grabbed hold of the five and brought them to King Khufu. When they arrived there, the professor asked the four to bow down to the king. The soldiers threw them down to the floor with extreme force and explained to King Khufu, "My king, we found these robbers trying to rob the pyramid that you built." Then the professor said, "My dear king, we weren't trying to rob your pyramid and instead we were just admiring it and…." Before he could continue, a voice came from the corner, "King Khufu, I saw these people and they were riding a beast." It was one of the bandits. The king was very surprised to hear that and ordered them to show the beast. Tom asked the professor, "What are we going to do?" The professor stood up and told the king, "My king, follow me and I'll show you the beast." Now all of them went to see the beast (car).When King Khufu saw this he was puzzled as he thought that the beast would be scary and dangerous and what he was nothing compared to what he imagined. The professor asked the king to let his hands free and he would teach him how to control the beast. Zachary said, "Umm, King Khufu we are also needed to control the beast." Then King Khufu ordered the four of them to be released as well. They all got into the beast (car). The professor started to explain, "First, make sure you are comfortable, then press the accelerator…." Just as the professor stepped on the accelerator the car dashed off.

King Khufu was very furious and he ordered his soldiers to chase after them. Just then, the bandit told King Khufu that his soldiers would never be able to catch it and ask him to ask his archers to shoot instead. So the archers shot the car but none of the arrows could stop the car but one arrow hit the tyres and it popped so the professor had to hit the brakes immediately. The soldiers came running to catch them. Once they were caught, King Khufu fiercely orderly that they were put in prison. While they were in prison, the five were trying to think of a way out when suddenly the king came but suspiciously with no soldiers behind his back. The king told him strictly, "I'll give you one more chance. You teach me how to hide the beast and if you run away again I'll feed you to the lions." The five thought about it for a while and agreed to the king that they would teach him and wouldn't run away but they needed to be treated with respect. King Khufu agreed and said, "Ok, I am only giving this chance because it will help me travel faster in war."

The king opened their cell and the five fixed the car with some spare parts of the car and taught the king how to ride the beast and at last they explained that the beast is called a car. The five stayed there for some days teaching the king how to drive the car. Suddenly a message arrived while the professor and the king were talking. When the king read the message he smiled. The professor asked, "My king, why are you laughing?" The king replied, "The king of Israel had declared war and now I can ride on the car and come back in triumph." The professor asked, "How long will you take to return?"

The replied, "Maybe a week." Then Tom told the king that they could do some adjustments. The king gave them permission to do what they needed to do. The five of them made the silencer to release fire which took some work. So the next day the king set off to war and to their amusement, the king and his army returned within hours with none of his men hurt. The five of them and all the citizens of Egypt were blown away by hearing this. Lucy asked the king, "How come neither you nor your men got hurt?" The king laughed and said, "Everyone got frightened when they saw the car and the fire. They retreated back to Israel." Everyone had he great laugh hearing that. After the successful war, the king let all his men feast all night and rewarded the five each a village but they refused to take it and instead told the king to let them stay in the castle. The king said, "No problem." About three days later, the news about the car started to spread and people wrote about King Khufu's heroic victory. Emma reminded the professor, "Umm professor, aren't we messing up the past?" Tom heard this and told, "Yeah professor, we're messing up the past, and we must stop the news about the car from spreading across the world." The professor agreed and went to talk to the king and told him if people knew about the car, it could destroy or change the future. Then he added that it was very bad news.

Hearing that, King Khufu ordered the whole country to destroy all existing drawings or writing of the car. To make sure the people followed his command, he ordered his most trusted men to go around the country and make sure everyone did as what the kind demanded. Once the men arrived confirming all citizens had done what the king said the five decided to leave and before leaving the professor asked the king to destroy all evidence of the car before he pass away. The king said with delight, "I will make sure that no one will know about the car." Lucy asked a little confused, "My king, doesn't the king of Israel know about the car?" King Khufu replied, "Yes and don't worry we will send them a simple message and ask them not to expose the car." The five waved and headed far out to the desert since they can't risk anyone seeing them using the time machine. The professor took it out of his backpack and enlarged it. Before leaving the professor asked, "Where do you all want to go?"

Emma replied, "I think I had enough going back to the past so now let us go back and…" Before she could continue Tom jumped in and said, "I thought we came back to the past to change the present." Emma said hitting her forehead, "Oh yeah, I nearly forgot." After a while of talking they decided to go to the time when the professor was constructing the time machine. Subsequently, they got onto the time machine and the professor entered the coordinates to the time he was building the time machine and almost immediately the time machine started to swirl so fast as the sand was thrown away. When they entered the purple, yellow and green atmosphere the professor didn't feel well and finally when the time machine stopped everyone got out, everyone except the professor. Everyone asked him to get out but he couldn't, every time he tried to get out something pushed him back and after a while the professor started to glitch. When the professor saw this he said, "Go to my lab and stop me from building the time machine." He added, "I can't get out of the time machine because I already exist in this time period so I won't be able to go out of the time machine and also once you stop me from building the time machine you all won't remember me since all the adventures and memories of the trip will be destroyed as the time machine never existed." Then tome asked, "Professor, why are you glitching?" The professor replied, "Oh yeah nearly forgot, you only have 16 hours to stop the time machine from being built." He also added, "Since you asked why I am glitching, it is because there is another me here, the original so I am like a copy and unwanted by the time." After hearing that, they set off to stop the professor from building the time machine.

When they approached the lab, they heard a lot of banging noises from inside the lab. The four got ready to do whatever it took to stop the time machine from being built. Once they were in, the place looked like a very high tech garage. They looked everywhere but did not see the professor anywhere. Then Lucy reminded while pointing down at the floor, "Do you all remember where we first saw time machine?" Tom replied, "Where was it again?" After asking none of the three remember so Lucy said, "Remember the trapdoor, the underground room?" The three slapped their forehead and laughed. Four of them went to the place where the professor did a retinal scan but now they had a problem, they can't open the door without the professor and they also couldn't see the place for keys or cards. The four ran as fast as they could to the professor who was just waiting stuck in the time machine. When they arrived the professor said, "That was fast of you to stop me."

"We did not even find the professor, he is probably in the underground room." said Zachary. Then the professor gave Tom something small, curved and thin piece the size of the pupil. The professor told Tom to put in on like a contact lenses. Then he explained that the thing Tom just put on had a print of the professor's eye so that when the retinal scan would allow you all to pass. Now they set off again to the lab again and scanned the print of the professor eye. The door opened slowly and they saw the professor using a wrench and tightening nut and they saw that half the time machine was open. When the professor saw the four he questioned, "Who are you all and how did you get inside here?" they explained everything and they also brought the professor to see his future self. To make sure he stops constructing they showed him a video of the future that was taken by the Zachary's phone. The professor felt bad and also he was informed about the consequences.

The professor changed his mind on building the time machine and instead decided to build something more useful. Immediately when the professor changed his mind, the professor, Tom, Lucy, Zachary and Emma was sucked into the green, yellow and purple atmosphere but this time there was time machine and all they saw in front of them was a very bright line of white which they were being sucked into. Suddenly, they were back in their own time zone but they do not remember anything about the time machine or even the professor. The time machine was nowhere to be seen and it never existed since the past professor destroyed the idea of building the time machine. In addition to that their time zone was much more peaceful and the atmosphere was friendlier but the four had no idea what they did. When the four checked their phones he realised that they had some photos that they don't remember taking but all of a sudden when they looked all the photos disappeared. Meanwhile, Professor Thomas gained fame as he was the first to build a machine that allows people to control the weather. All the way back at Egypt the car disappeared into thin air and neither King Khufu, the bandits nor the people of Israel remember anything about the car. Since that day, the professor gained more and more fame inventing astounding inventions while Tom, Lucy, Zachary and Emma continued their studies. They became very successful and surprisingly they met the professor and all of them worked together and had adventures but neither of them remembered neither the time machine nor the extraordinary adventure they went through the time machine. As the years passed by the professor became known as the world's most brilliant mind.
