Sometimes it's bad to love

Wú Ai's POV

I hunted the forest but was only able to get two bush meat. I was already headed to the cave when I thought about Qianfan, it won't be fair on my part to feed me what he doesn't eat or starve him so I looked for a river nearby and fortunately for him, I caught a lot of fishes, more than I've ever caught before. I went back to the cave and my heart skipped a beat as I saw how weak he looked, he must have lost a lot of blood because his leg was bleeding profusely. I dropped what I was holding and rushed to his side.

"Hey, Qianfan. Stay with me"

I applied the remains of the herb to the leg and wrapped it with another clean clothes.

I mopped his body with water and he opened his eyes.

"You're back?"

"Are you that silly? You couldn't even retie the scarf to stop the bleeding?"

"I was so weak and hungry and beside, I was only listening to you"

"Listening to me? In what way? By making me a murderer?"

"I'm sorry, I never meant that but you told me not to move an inch and I respect every of your decision for me"

I blushed softly, it was the first time someone had ever listened to me, even at the expense of his life. I adjusted my hair to the back of my ear, my gaze fixed on the ground, my mind went blank and I was short of words to express how I feel. It's been long since I felt such happiness. Qianfan softly lifted my head and I gave in to him.

"What's wrong? Are you blushing? Is a master supposed too blush at the words of her slave?"

My countenance changed instantly and I wrote back my serious look.

"Who told you I was blushing over what you said? I haven't thought, remember? And only I can listen to it so I can blush whenever I want"

"It's fine, you don't have to be that furious. I was only joking. What do you have for us to eat? Meat? I think that's going to be a great meal for dinner"

"Really? Are you going to eat meat? I thought you said you don't eat that" I asked, setting sticks to hang the meats and fishes on.

"Of course, I will. Anything for you, master"

I set the sticks while Qianfan helped in kindling the fire. I offered him fish but he insisted on having the meat, after much pressure, I gave him and allowed him have the meat.

"This is so delicious, you're a great cook" he said after his first bite but I noticed that his body changed.

I wasn't so sure, maybe it was because I was tired from hunting but after the second bite, my assumption became right. His face got red and his hands, swollen. He looked like someone bite by a swarm of bee and he looked like he was going to throw up any moment from now.

"What's wrong with you? What's happening to you?" I asked, patting him at the back.

After a while, his body calmed and I helped him back to his bed.

"Are you really that stupid? You know, your level of stupidity annoys me a lot"

"You know, you look more pretty when you're furious"

I looked at him and was about to get up to leave but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.

"Why? Are you that angry that you don't want to talk to me anymore? You really shouldn't be like this, I don't even know what I did wrong"

"You don't? Why did you eat the meat when you know you're allergic to it? That might have cost your like"

"Would you have missed me if I died? Of course, you would. After all, I'm your slave."

"Stop flirting with me, will you? "

"You're too beautiful for me to stop, Ai. I think I feel something for you. Even when I know it's wrong, I still can't control myself. "

I broke free from his grip, went outside the cave and sat them. I don't know why my heart beats faster at every word he said, I don't know why I've gone soft for him, I really don't want to get broken again. The last one almost cost me my sanity.

Su Qianfan's POV

Maybe I shouldn't have expressed my feelings to her, I mean, we just met not quite long and I already feel this way about her. I don't know how to face her now and I'm scared she'll just starve me to death and stop tending to my wound. I decided it was best to apologize to her so I went to where she was sitting and sat beside her but she moved a bit away from me, I sighed softly.

"I'm sorry about everything I said earlier. Just take it as a joke"

"An expensive joke at that? It's only been days since we met and you're now in love with me? Is that how easy it is to fall in love with someone? Is that how easy it is for guys to love a stranger? No wonder, he left for for her. Now, you're here telling me the same lie he told me back then. Keep this at the back of your mind that I'll never fall for those cheap lies, never!" she said, tears rolling down her cheeks freely and went back to the cave.

She no longer look like the tough lady I know, it must have taken her a lot of determination to be that strong and I feel sorry for reopening those hurtful pages of her life. I decided to stay outside for a while so I wouldn't disturb her cry or sleep.

After some minutes, perhaps twenty minutes, I went back into the cave. I saw her lying on her bed, with her facing the wall and with the way her body was vibrating, I could tell that she's sobbing. I would be best if I just let her be for some time but I badly want to give her a hug and a shoulder to cry on.
