All about Mei

Li Háo's POV

"Chāo! Chāo!! Go get me that silly Fenhua."

He came back with me after some minutes. I signalled at Chāo to let us be alone and he left.

"You requested for my presence, master" he said, about to take a seat

"How dare you? How dare you try to seat down after all the mess you made? You should be on your knees, thanking me for saving your life"

"I'm sorry I had to let you go through all those stress for me. It was intentionally and I promise I'll forever be grateful to you, master." he said on his knees

"Of course you should be. But why did you help him?"

"I can't really explain as well, master. Something was just troubling my mind through out the night to save him"

"I'm not saying you shouldn't help, you also know I'm not pleased with the way we capture people but be careful. This is our job and we must do it right. I wouldn't want this kind of mistake to repeat itself again, is that understood?"

"Yes, master."

"Okay, you can leave now"

He bowed down in obeisance and left my chamber.

Su Qianfan's POV

Ai and I went to the river, she took her bath while I caught some fishes for breakfast. She took the fishes home to prepare while I also took my bath. I dressed up and afterwards, went back to the cave.

"You're back? Come have a seat, breakfast will soon be ready"

I sat down beside her, waited patiently for the meal, though my stomach wasn't making it easy for me. I ate the meal like someone that has been starving for months.

"Slow down, will you? You're going to choke on it if you're not being careful. The food doesn't have legs to run so why the rush?"

"You can't understand the way I'm feeling. I'm so famished"

After we finished eating, Ai parked out things and we set to leave the forest. I could see the excitement written all over her face and I'm happy that I'm the reason behind such happiness. I led her through the path out of the forest and in no time, we emerged from the forest to the express.

"Yesss" Ai jumped and shouted excitedly

"Wow! We made it, Qianfan. We did it"

"Be careful and stop jumping around. I heard it's pretty dangerous here in the city"

"Say who" she asked, looking back at me with her usual serious look

"I mean, we do read it in book, don't we?" I asked and chuckled to lighten up the tense mood but she didn't fall for that

"Well, I've lived in the city all my life"

"Really? I thought it was in a village or a small town."

"Did I ever mention such? Just shut up already and let's go have some fun"

She took me to places I've only imagined and seen in books, they look more beautiful in reality and I must confess, I had a nice time.

Soon, the night approached us and it was dawn on us that we have no place to spend the night. It would be a bad idea to go back to the cave to sleep because it was late and we could fall victim to bad circumstances.

"What do you think we should do now?"

"I don't know. It would be a bad idea to go back home or you think they would have forgotten about the past and be happy to see me?"

"Of course, they will be. It's been three years now, I'm sure they would have forgiven you"

"Okay, then. Let's board a taxi"

She stopped a taxi and told him our destination, they discussed price and Ai told him she's going to pay him when she gets home as she had forgotten her purse and the taxi driver arrived. We entered the taxi and after what seems like ages, we arrived at her house and she went in to get money while I stood with the driver.

Wú Ai's POV

I knocked at the gate and a new face emerges through the gate small hole of course, I wasn't expecting to see the old gate keeper.

"Good evening, sir. I....... " he interrupted me

"We don't have money to give to beggars like you so just go away"

I swallowed hard at the embarrassment and my eyes became teary.

"Mister, I'm not a beggar. I want to see those living in this house" I said in a shaky voice

"You want to see those living here? Who are you to them? Do you have an appointment with any of them?"

"They are my family. Just tell them it's Ai"

He opened the gate and scanned me from my head to toe, then laughed abruptly.

"What's going on there? Am I going to spend the whole night waiting for my money? Why is it so hard to get your purse?"

I looked back at the yelling driver

"I'm sorry, mister. I'll join you in a bit"

"So you said you're part of this family? And you look like this? Even the youngest of this family will have you sleep with him for money"

Now, that was the peak of it. Even if I wasn't going to be allowed into the house, this low life gate keeper has no right to talk to me in such manner so I slapped him hard on the face. He stared at me for some seconds and was about to retaliate but I was fast enough to dodge him and pin him down. Then I heard a voice from the house.

"Ān, what's going on there? Why are you shouting?"

I recognized the voice immediately, even before I saw her. It was Mei, my step sister and she happens to be my enemy. I let go of the gate keeper as she saw us.

"Wow! See who we have here, the lover girl. Are you back to beg for food again? I think you should just go back before father sees you and get angry"
