Chapter Two Hundred & Three: Pain

"Are you back at Aysun?" It was Darius communicating to Velma through the necklace. "How are things?"

"Bloody," Velma heaved. "The forte was relatively safe but the Alpha was attacked today by the Beta."

"Lord Cyrus?" Darius asked.

"No, Cyrus is dead. By his son Vallus."

"That's..." Darius trailed off. "How is he?"

"He is fine, I was able to heal him," Velma said. "Vallis escaped before he was killed. The actions of the guards were suspicious. They seemed to be on his side while pretending to be loyal to Artemis."

"Is this what was prophesied about?" Darius asked. "The Beta's only son shall become alpha?"

"I don't believe the moon goddess will choose Vallus," Velma murmured. "All I know is that Dana is the key to everything."

"When... When does she leave her spiritual hibernation?"
