The Eight Gates!

Ren collapsed on his bed. He had just come back from the hospital. A whole day of healing had pushed his Mystical Palm Jutsu to a new height.

[Medical Ninjutsu: Mystical Palm Jutsu (Active)- Lv 5 (3/500): An A-Rank Medical Ninjutsu in which the user uses their Yang-natured portion of their chakra to stimulate the physical energy in the target cells, forcing them to increase the rate of regeneration.

An increased sustained burst of Yang chakra could further enhance the rate of regeneration by forcing cells to increase the rate of replication. This comes at the cost of reduced vitality and overuse of this technique could lead to a permanent reduction in VIT.

Ren closed his eyes as he allowed the new technique to slowly settle in. This happened every time he gained new knowledge because of his ability. The reason he gained this ability has always been a mystery to him, but after 2 years he had come to accept these sudden enlightenments.

'So that's what those tenketsu are for...' Rem thought as he meditated a bit. He could feel his chakra flowing throughout his body, the chakra flowing through his veins and the tenketsu scattered throughout his body.

There were 361 tenketsu, other than the one in his heart Ren had always assumed that the rest of them were the same. Only when he upgraded his mystical palm skill today, not only did he get some more knowledge about how to heal a tenketsu, but he also got knowledge about the existence of 8 special types of tenketsu in his body.

'The 8 gates, isn't this the skill that Lee used, I remember he had 121 Endurance and he was able to open the 5 gates...' Ren thought, he opened his status page and looked.

'According to my new memories, opening each gate puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the body. And since Lee could open 5 gates...' Ren thought for a moment before he took a deep breath and sat down in the meditation pose.

All his senses were locked on the Kaimon, the Gate of Opening. The Kaimon is located in the brain's left hemisphere, it controls a user's mental inhibitions. The 8 gates were interesting to Ren because according to the theory his body had these limitations in place, although it would not be totally safe to remove these restrictions. In desperate times, this technique could be the game-changer that he needed.

'Now the question is, how do I go about opening these gates.' Ren thought as he observed the tenketsu. Like any other of its tenketsu, it was a circular node that regulated chakra flowing through his body. As a medical shinobi, messing around with your tenketsu felt a little wrong but since these tenketsu were called gates he had an idea.

Ren cleared his mind and focused, he took control of his chakra and put pressure on one side of the Kaimon. It was surprisingly easy to push past the barrier. His body trembled as the gate sort of popped open which led to an increased chakra saturation in every section of his brain. 

Ding~

He opened his eyes. He stood up noticing the change in the sensations he was feeling as he looked around. His senses were reaching far wider than before, he could almost sense as far as 700m away from him.

The stillness in his surroundings was familiar, the world had slowed down slightly to him, like it happened every time he focused on something particular, though right now the effect was more pronounced. There were a bunch of notifications in front of him, but Ren focused on stopping the flow of chakra that was blowing through his Kaimon. 

The sensation stopped and a feeling of weakness overcame Ren, his legs wobbled as he fell back down on the bed.

'What?' Ren questioned as he looked at his status.

A small pain radiated through his body, Ren quickly flew through the hand seals for the Mystical Palm Jutsu and scanned his body for any injuries. His eyes widened as he realized that throughout his body there was a small amount of damage to his muscles. 

Ren looked at the 50% reduction in his two stats STR and DEX, both of them were highly dependent on the muscles so it made sense, as he sat down and slowly began healing his body his eyes focused on the earlier notifications he had ignored.

As Ren healed himself the amount of stat modifier that was affecting him kept on decreasing, even with his medical ninjutsu which was at a very high level, it took him over 4 minutes to heal all of his injuries.

'Even if my Mystical Palm Jutsu reaches Max level, I would need to use 2 minutes to heal my Injuries. But if my endurance crosses the threshold of 200 then opening the first gate likely wouldn't damage me.' Ren thought, that getting access to this technique was a god-sent.

When he faced Obito, if he had been able to double his thinking and reaction speed, then he would have been able to do something.

'Plus each time I use this technique, my Endurance increases as well, I can heal myself and then grind the technique, though I should search for scrolls regarding this back in Konoha. Since Lee knows this technique there should be some mentions of it in Konoha's archives.' Ren thought.

Ren then focused on his chakra reserves that had doubled, he created a shadow clone and dismissed it before he flopped on the bed.

'I can double my chakra every time I open this gate, and if my reserves are less than half then this technique should top up my chakra reserves...' Another loophole appeared in his mind as an excited grin stretched across Ren's face.

AN - In the Anime Guy was able to open the 6th and even the 7th gate without suffering from quite a lot of adverse effects in his fight against Kisame. While Lee was practically crippled by just opening the 5th gate. So I added the END check to simulate that point!
