Death fight

Finding himself with barely any time to react, Ethan instinctively raised the shovel as a shield, attempting to block the incoming attack.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Gunshots echoed through the silent streets, harsh and piercing. Ethan felt no pain, just a violent shudder throughout his body as his heart raced, realizing he was in an unprecedented crisis.

"Damn, that was abrupt. Aren't they supposed to monologue a bit and give me a chance to escape?" Ethan thought, struggling to accept their directness.

The impact of the bullets knocked him to the ground. Without feeling any pain, he wasn't sure if he had been hit, but he knew he had to do something.

"What do I do? Play dead? No, he fired three shots, that's cautious enough. And the cleaner's gone, clearly, the bodies have been dealt with." In an instant, Ethan's brain worked overtime, but the reality brought him despair.

"Boss, killing two of them will get us into trouble," one of the men beside Carlos spoke.

"It doesn't matter. Once the Submersion Ceremony begins, no one can stop us," Carlos replied calmly, still aiming his gun.

"The key is to leave no living witnesses." Carlos's words plunged Ethan into despair; from the beginning, Carlos had never intended to spare Ethan, only hoping to extract more information from him.

"Kill them!" Just as Ethan was about to give up, that voice echoed in his mind again, seemingly magical, filling him with courage.

"Screw it, I'm going all out!"

Ethan leaped from the ground, suddenly realizing his body had become incredibly light.

Too light! This unfamiliar sensation made Ethan uneasy, so much so that he jumped higher than expected, landing right in front of Carlos.

Caught off guard, but quick to react, Carlos and his companion returned fire.

The bullets hit Ethan but seemed ineffective; he felt no pain.

"What's happening? Did I activate some invincibility cheat?" Ethan was filled with questions, but this was not the time for contemplation. Seeing their gunfire ineffective, the other man in black aimed the butt of his gun at Ethan's head.

Without hesitation, Ethan threw a punch, landing it squarely on the man's face before he could react.

The man was sent flying by the force, hitting the ground hard and rendered completely incapacitated.

His punch was unnaturally powerful!

Seeing this, Carlos and the remaining man began to retreat, firing as they went. "Hey, I apologize for our earlier behavior," Carlos said, "Join us, and you can be part of the upper echelon, along with endless wealth. What do you say?"

Despite their words, they continued their intense shooting. After Carlos emptied his magazine, he promptly pulled out another peculiar-looking pistol from his waist.

Ethan didn't trust him; Carlos's lies came too naturally. He wouldn't entrust his fate to such a person.

Ducking, he charged forward!

"Bang! Bang!" The strange gun in Carlos's hand fired, and two bullets struck Ethan, halting his charge and sending him flying backward.

Blood! A torrent of blood spurted from Ethan's stomach, and he finally sustained a serious injury after their confrontation.

"Ah, young man, you should learn to heed advice and not overestimate your abilities," Carlos said, pleased with the effectiveness of the unusual gun, as he began to reload.

"This proves those people really made a breakthrough. After the Submersion Ceremony, our dominion is assured!" the other man laughed.

Despite the severe pain, Ethan remained conscious, the agony keeping him acutely aware. He felt as though he couldn't breathe, likely due to a bullet in his lung.

"What the hell, why did my cheat stop working? Is it because of that gun? What do I do now?" Lying on the ground, Ethan began to analyze his situation.

"I seem to still be able to move. Has the scroll enhanced my body as well? My vitality is unbelievable." Ethan couldn't see his wound from his angle, but he felt his stomach itching, and his lung seemed to be healing.

"Bang!" Another shot was fired, but it did no harm to Ethan. He guessed the black-clothed men had reverted to using a regular gun.

"Normal bullets don't work on these disgusting things at all. Is this the monster mentioned in the prophecy? Truly horrifying," one of the men commented.

"These disgusting things?" Ethan was a bit puzzled by what he was saying.

"I'm afraid only the bullets they've developed are effective, don't be careless, go check on No. Three, would you?"

"No. Three?" Was that the code name for the man he had knocked down earlier? What an opportunity!

Ethan thought. He decided to jump up from the ground once again!

But what he saw next left him stunned. He hadn't expected Carlos and another man in black to be cautiously pointing their guns at him; they hadn't split up at all!

Shiiit!
