Fredrinn did not hold these men for long. After demanding several things they must remember, he simply kicked their apologetic backsides and warned them to behave as he entrusted a dozen of his men to establish the ways of his village to the Yrett Tribe.
As for the possibility of his men getting killed? Fredrinn scoffed. A bunch of scandalous, blabbermouths, after being exposed to his strength, would find some ways to flatter him instead.
Moreover, he was more interested in the Legendary Yapper. How godly such a person would be if he brought them to a diplomatic rendezvous? Wouldn't they absolutely decimate their opposition?
Perhaps if the Yrels originated from the twenty-first century, Fredrinn would snort at their nonsense. But their upbringing was just some tribesmen. What could possibly be used as references for them to make such claims? Unless they heard it for real!
To ensure he didn't miss out on this interesting existence, Fredrinn told a dozen men to prick their ears about anyone who was peculiar, eccentric, and good at talking.
Soon, the mournful mammoth-species dark creatures continued their journey with their deflated masters. As for Fredrinn, Kel, Ter, and others, they continued on their conquest.
It took a while. At some point, even Fredrinn had to resort to some measures to make the process more efficient. He knew how backward those villages and tribes were, so he decided to split the group into four groups. Kel, Ter, and a trustee of Kel became the squad leaders of these small groups.
Fredrinn was alone. His strength was too overbearing; his men may be decorations again like how the previous conquest processed...
A few days later, all the men gathered in a certain zone they'd agreed upon to be the gathering point. Fredrinn smiled as his eyes lingered on his personal information. It may take a while to digest all of this.
| Current Force: Village (Level 1)
Family Members: 3
Members: 3,102
Livestock: 903
Total Strength Gathered: 1,073,270 kg.
Fredrinn smiled in satisfaction. As of now, his strength has surpassed 4 million kilograms, hypothetically on par with a Mid Master! This was concluded based on the fact that after entering the Grand Knight realm, it was no longer as simple as physical power.
At that stage, one could manipulate the pure energy at will, drastically enhancing one's combat power!
"My Lord, all of the men have been scattered, leading the subordinated villages and tribes to gradually integrate them with our rules. When the time is ripe, unification wouldn't be difficult."
Conquering and uniting are two different concepts, and Fredrinn would not feel secure if he merely did the former. He launched the campaign not for the glory and the wealth but for the people!
"Good. How about the news from Lutto? Is there any?"
Kel furrowed his eyebrows, his eyes narrowed, "Lutto seems to meet an obstacle to deliver the recent news, but he ensured that it wouldn't be too long. Perhaps 3-4 days from now, the news would come."
Hearing this, Fredrinn was somewhat surprised. There were dozens of knights and hundreds of squires attacking the border, but Viscountess Nemhil still stood strong after many days.
Perhaps the terrain there was advantageous for her to use, rendering the enemies helpless? Or maybe she was a genius woman who could see the flow of the battle clearly and use it to her advantage?
It wouldn't even be strange if she already made a deal with the Outcasts beforehand, ensuring her safety while turning blind to those who entered the kingdom's territory.
Interests, what a devilish drive!
It's such a shame he did not have enough connections to gather more information. Such a pity.
He rubbed his chin, his eyes shone with appreciation. As expected of someone who survived in the midst of waves, she was no ordinary woman!
As for the obstacle, he could send some men to handle this. It was probably a technical issue, so it wouldn't be so troublesome, hopefully.
"My Lord, are you going there alone?"
Such a question was supposed to be asked with concern and worry, but there's only excitement in the old man's tone. Fredrinn nodded. There are many reasons.
Not to mention that he alone was enough; his worth would significantly surge in the eyes of those included in this battle, especially since he was alone. The Human mind is very skilled in conjuring assumptions, and depending on one's confidence, the chance for the conjurer to believe what they conjured is quite high.
The more confident one has, the more they'd be enraptured by their own assumptions. There's a saying that men cannot be left alone with their thoughts.
He, alone, suppressed everyone. Wouldn't everyone be shocked and curious?
After everything had settled, he just had to agree with whatever ideas they'd come up with on their own. It's equivalent to filling up the holes with their land! He, Fredrinn, just has to act heroic and badass.
Why would he need to think hard about his background and the origin of his persona? Just let them think of it on their own, and he only needs to go along with it.
As for Viscountess Nemhil, he'd naturally treat her differently. After all, he's indeed in desperate need of connections. By telling her some secrets left untold to others, she would have the foundation of trust to cooperate with him. Treating one differently from our usual attics to convey the fact that they were more important is quite a good tactic, no?
Fredrinn kept planning as he watched Kel and what left of his men after the campaign, blankly observing as they enjoyed the sunset.
He also sat with them and enjoyed the wild beast's meat. As his strength grew, his ambitions naturally followed.
When his force was strong enough to withstand any storm and disaster, Fredrinn would go out and conquer the world with his men...
Don't misunderstand. With his strength, it was natural to have thoughts about the kingdom. It was very hard to calm down his ambition when he had the strength to take on the world.
But the calamity truly left a huge shadow on his heart. Fredrinn could not afford to make such a mistake again. It was a constant reminder that while he was strong, his people were not. In a world where strength reigns supreme, the strongest man he had was Kel, a mere knight expert.
Back then, he was careless, following the surging fire in his heart to increase his power by conquering nearby forces. Now, he would not only consider his interests. His people also have to be considered.
They are the source of his strength, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say that his people are his interests!
Every step must be thoroughly thought out, leaving no gaps behind. Aside from orthodox talents like Lez, Ter, and others, Fredrinn valued those who are smart the most! As of now, only Ryly met that criteria, with Kel barely reaching the threshold.
When he had hundreds of knights under him along with thousands of squires, that's when he'd sweep the Mystyr Kingdom along with its neighbors, setting an unprecedented hegemony!
In his calm eyes, resided an inextinguishable flame that would not stop at anything!
"Men, go back to the territory and ensure that the integration runs smoothly. Make sure to cooperate with Ryly well in his project. I promise you that I will create a haven we call home!"
Their reply was a chorus of cheer and tearful screams. Even the stone-faced Kel showed a shimmering look.
"Long live the Lord!"
"I'll take on the demons at your command, my Lord!"
"Lead us to victory!!!"
Their morale was unprecedentedly high as they marched ahead, never stopping their exclamations of admiration and awe towards him. Fredrinn saluted in reply as he watched his men leave.
After they were gone, he sat on the soft meadow for a while, closing his eyes. When he opened them, they were no longer stern and ambitious and were filled with indifference.
His eyes were cold as he looked in the direction of the Litel Trading Site.
"Prepare yourself, viscounts. If you're heinous, then pray that the Ones Above would forgive your sins and let your souls rest in heaven. If you're good, then too bad, that has nothing to do with me. Blame yourself for being too weak."
"I've been there, and fortunately, I survived. Can't say the same for you, though. I suffered the same, and you should too!"
This persona has no sense of justice or shame. Even if he was openly hypocritical and was someone who justified everything he had done, so what? At least he was not so hypocritical by calling others hypocritical while being a hypocrite himself.
Sometimes, when one accepts one's shortcoming, the very shortcoming would be their strongest weapon.
With a cold and ruthless look, the endless nightmare that had unleashed its wrath on the Kennel Branch Family reappeared once again, ready to spread the reason why he was able to do such a cruel thing.
This time, he is not Fredrinn. This time, he would be their biggest nightmare! He, a mere killer, has never been keen on showing mercy!
